I guess Hansu really loved Sonja but he was toxic, he didn't know how to love. He never wanted to marry his wife in the first place but it was cruel and stupid of him to accuse his wife 'being not able to bring a son'. Sunja made the right decision, Isak loved her much better and properly. I am glad, that she loved him as well.. it wasn't the way she loved Hansu but still.. it's nice to see, that there are some realities in k-dramas. Because most of the time, this is how it is in the real life. We don't always go after people who we love but who loves and cares for us.
Isak and Sunja are truly such a beautiful couple in so many ways
Lee Min Ho did so well in this series. I can see and feel Koh Hansu’s pain, love, hurt, anger and own struggles in this character. Well done Lee Min Ho. These series are so haunting, it has been haunting for weeks for me now, really impressed.
At least she chose the right person to care and love her. It’s understandable why she ended up choosing to wed that guy instead of Hansu.
Sometimes doing what’s best for ourselves means you need to make tough decisions to leave someone you love who is toxic and unhealthy behind.

I read this novel back in 2017 and I think the series is doing a wonderful job so far adapting it; definitely recommend everyone to watch!

Hansu never loved sunja it is isak who did . Hansu only pitied her for using her to vent his lust .
In the book, you hear his thoughts more and he does loves her, in the emotional stunted way he knows how to love. She is the only women he ever loved, but he doesn’t know how to express love, only power and control.
TV Hansu shows his love more in s2, but it’s still a controlling love. He does make sure she and the children are safe from the war though. I also ways wonder how much of his love is bound up in his desire to be more involved in Noa’s life? Noa is his Korean son and that matters a huge amount to Hansu.
He’s a very complex character, lots of bad but some good as well. I always feel he’s a very lonely person who longs to be back among Koreans but will not give up the wealth and power he’s accumulated. Lee MinHo is doing a fantastic job of playing this morally complex but intriguing character.
@@Liverbird-zp7yg if he really loved her he should have accepted noa , he didn't take responsibility really. Providing what he has is easy but Isak gave all that he had ,even was ok with Sunja marrying another person after his death for her good.
@@simplynothing2544 Hansu doesn’t know how to love like Isak does. I’m not saying Hansu was right, he should have told Sunja he was married at the start. He tries to take responsibility for Noa in s1 e4, but understandably it’s not what Sunja wants.
Hansu thinks he is providing for them by watching over them in Osaka before war breaks out, but he’s controlling Sunja’s life without her permission. Hansu thinks this means he loves her but he’s just controlling her again in his quest to have some sort of relationship with his son.
As I said before Hansu is a very complex character, shaped out of his past experiences and the daily racism he lives with by being a Korean in Japan. Both Isak and Hansu love Sunja, just in very different ways. I mean you could criticise Isak for not thinking of his family when he was arrested and imprisoned for sedition, but people are much more complex than that.
I love Pachinko because not everything is black and white, like life it is complex, made up of many shades of grey.
@@Liverbird-zp7yg ummm.. to me Hansu isn't powerful, it is Sunja who is most powerful and responsible than any both the men . It is neither isak nor Hansu who can teach what love is but Sunja , she knows how to give , treat and believe that's truly what love is to me .

in that time ..the time of my grandmother it was normal that you end up marring some one you do not love ..and makes it even worse than cheathing ...thank God we can make our own choises ...🙋♀️😉🍹🇨🇼🇨🇼
yes, he did.. and the worst thing is, he accused his wife 'being not able to bring a son' because they had a daughter together and he was desperate to have a son. His wife family was rich and powerful so she couldn't care less about him but still.. I love Lee Min Ho and it's so refreshing to see him doing other characters than just 'the good guy' but in this series, we all hated him :D
