Thanks for testing this! One comment: the fact an r1 mourneskull doesn’t show up in the legendary gems section of the breakdown is not a bug. That only tracks the damage directly coming from the gem, which with mourneskull is only the vile spirits that haunt enemies. It does *not* reflect its impact on other sources of damage through buffs, so is not a meaningful indicator of a gem’s overall strength for dps. The fact your dps and total damage were higher with r1 mourneskull than r10 viper’s bite is, however, informative. Viper’s is a great gem, but mostly for farming and PvP. Pure dot gems don’t add much to single target dps. Mourneskull has a bigger range than I expected, though is still not ideal if you’re playing at max range with a ranged build (as tested by Apollyon), but may be great for the kinds of builds and play styles you tend to prefer. However, it’s stronger for burst than sustained dps, and according to Auroth, not ideal for raids (as you start most raids with only one target), but could be great for other types of content.
Yeah it does seem powerful but I’m still undecided on whether or not to use it. I’ll try to gain more copies during the event but I’m not upgrading it yet. I don’t really want another PVE gem, and for wizard, it feels like that’s what it would be. 🥲
@ imho good for burst for any melee to midranged combat in pve or PvP, when regularly facing 3+ opponents. So not as clear a “must have” gem as the high percentage made it look, since it also has a duration and cd. If you stack beneficial effects duration, you can get over 1/2 uptime on it, which makes it decent but not great for sustained damage in the above situations.
Can conquer the raid section iv a r5 mourn and on raids it seems ermmm. I'm unsure doing dps but the fervant seems better. But as for owf opan world fast movingulti targets I think it's good.

If its limited to the event no f2p will be able to rank it to 10 (about 800 crests needed - i barely get around 30 crests a week x 4weeks event thats 120 maybe 150 - still a looooooong way from 800)
They’re looking into ways of obtaining it after the event but haven’t yet finalised anything. I personally feel that the reason this gem is hard to obtain/craft/is mainly limited to this event, is because it’s very, very strong for a 2* - it should have possibly been a 5 star, but of course, a lot of people don’t want to/cannot invest in another 5 star gem, but 2 star feels more accessible to a lot of players. Plus everyone got one for free from the event rewards, meaning all players have the opportunity to use it.

It depends on your situation, but I have a friend that is FTP and he had saved over 2K telluric fragments, so was able to craft a bunch of copies towards upgrading his free one. I guess we will have to see what state they have in store for it after the event, as of now, nothing is finalised for it.
I think the only thing about testing it on dummy is you're only getting one target instead of the full potential from three targets, right? Looks like a solid gem.. just wish there were more slots so we didnt have to make these tough decisions! PS.. Have you tried Mao's unlimited power build for wizard? Thanks for the video!
Yeah it would be great if we had some way of actually tracking our DPS in ow to see the true potential with it. For now, a comparable test will have to do. If it’s the spam build then yes, I have tried it. But I only have mobile to play on, and without any kind of backbone so it’s pretty tricky to use. 😅 A lot of fun though!
I kept wolfheort and broke void spark for this gem on my tempest, i awakened it rank 5 and i saw bigger dmg on kikuras rapids solo doing in my work rather than rank 4 void spark, wolfheort is not replaceable if you are playing it especially with gloom cask

f2p players who wishes to lvl this gem to rank 10 in future, forget it, unless u can get 3840 fragments b4 10 dec dolphin or + players, who wear 2 stars rank 10s for dps, if you dont have the fragments needed, would you burn your lego crests to farm a 2 stars gem or 8-10k plat / gem from market?
Even as a mid-spender I am still undecided on this gem. 🥲 Firstly I’d have to choose which gem to drop, and then work on upgrading it as fast as possible. For now, it’s a no from me.
Some of the old 5* gems definitely need a rework. There are many that are just not at all powerful and underperform when tested against 2 star gems which is just wild to me. 💀
If you’re measuring true DPS, then yes, but in comparative testing it gives you an idea of whether or not you’re getting more damage from one gem or another. 👍🏻
It would be suck if thus event over and the gem remove from crafting considering the limited time event kinda short. Please tell Blizz go easy on us F2P please
@TheOnlyRicia My CR & power enough to kill monster in infer3 but the monster in real damnation in side quest can't killed it's nlike nerf this happen before the maintenance & I thought fr. Latest maintenance had benn already solved but still has bugs only in real damnation side quest
I’m sorry but This is not a good way to test a gem at all. First your just using the total damage of all your gems. You could have had gems like StarFire or Viper hitting with a lot more Crit hits on one of the attempts increasing a lot of the total damage but having nothing to do with the new gem. Also the biggest impact your going to get from the gem is the dmg boost to all sources after draining 3 souls which you cannot do here. & testing a max gem on a level one Aux gem imo is just pointless Sorry but this video was not helpful at all. There are much better ways to actually test the power of a gem
Ok 👍🏻 I did also test the *rank 10* gem as the *only* equipped gem but I guess you didn’t watch that part of the video? Rank 1 was Auxiliary because, as I explained in the video, rank 1 as the only gem equipped doesn’t register the damage coming from the gem as it’s actually boosting your overall damage. Others have also explained this in the comments. Test dummy is the only place in the whole game that gives you a breakdown of where your damage is coming from. So if you can suggest where else I could test gems, and show a comparison with a breakdown, that information would be welcome, as you said there are much better ways to do this?

Mine has reached rank 6 :') still a long way to go but yeah its a must have gem for f2p/mid spenders. one of the best DPS gem.

If you're a range class then it's no use unless you're using it for pve.
Yeah this is why I’ve not invested in it yet - I’d rather strengthen my PVP builds and secondaries for now.
For ranged clases its good only in pve. For pvp no because we wannt to keep a distance from barbs ,crusader...

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t use this in PvP unless I was playing a melee class. Keeping my DOT gems for PvP always! 💪🏼✨

I use Viper’s and Bile in PVP too. Great gems with Pain Clasp.
