Beautiful indeed. Franco is fantastic, as always. Handel in fact re-worked this marvelous duet, composed in 1727, into a quintet in his last English oratorio, Jephta (1751, HWV 70), retitled 'All that is in Hamor mine'. For a splendid rendition of said quintet, I recommend the Vanguard classic performance by Reri Grist, Maureen Forrester, Alexander Young, John Lawrenson and Helen Watts (Vinyl 1969, CD 1995). On TH-cam, another nice rendition can be found of this last of Handel's English biblical oratorios and this quintet.
Too late. A DVD/CD was being planned, but publication would have needed the approval of all artists involved and this couldn't be reached. It was also tried to do a second reprise for the 40th anniversary of the Händel Festspiele Karlsruhe, but again someone crucial to the production did not agree to do it, so those plans were scrapped.
Riccardo Primo will also be presented by Opera Theatre of St. Louis in its 40th Festival Season of June 2015. We are promised an outstanding cast, and the conductor will be the well-known Baroque music expert Christian Curnyn. Robert M. Feibel
Norberto Torriente This is the cast also for 2015: Riccardo I. Franco Fagioli Costanza Emily Hindrichs Isacio Lisandro Abadie Pulcheria Claire Lefilliâtre Oronte Nicholas Tamagna Berardo Andrew Finden Franco is magnificent in this role!
Agreed! Except that the opening ritornello is missing, & the lute spoils the third fermata by gratuitous & harmonically questionable filler that detracts from the vocal solo (instead on enhancing it), I believe Ive found my dream performance of this duet.
Seems to me that, bar a very few exceptions, the best trained opera singers are the counter tenors like Franco Fagioli, Max Emanuel Cencic, Philippe Jaroussky and Josef Jakub Orlinski.
@@alesaandrosevero4670 I know for sure they didn't. There are videos from rehearsals, but it was definitely not filmed professionally for release. Some of the people involved in the production objected to it. There is just an audio from a radio broadcast. Shame really as it was gorgeous and one of the best productions I have seen (and I saw most of the performances).

Fantastic! Two superb voices, perfectly blended. This duet is one of my personal favorites and this rendition is utterly beautiful.
So captivating - the performance and the vocal acting. A gift to all of us.
so graceful
Handel, Franco, Emily - just a wonderful combination :)
Great interpretation of great music!

Please let us have all of this beautiful production on youtube and as a DVD!

Surely it is not right that an individual member of the team can exercise such a veto. Great art belongs to the whole world.
Anyway, couldn’t those people be asked again? They might have changed their opinions by now and then the DVD could go ahead! Please try!

This opera performance (Riccardo Primo that is) will have a reprisal February 2015, again in Karlsruhe, at the Händelfestspiele. Go see it if you can!

any chance of Ricardo Primo being released on DVD?
Unfortunately not. It wasn't filmed and there won't be any more performances.
How sad!
@@justy2408 I'm sure they have recorded the entire opera in full, it's just that the recording is not published to the public
