Great vid and love your shelving. Can't wait until I can get my stuff organised and shelved properly. I have a lot of the same stuff but I had chased that Six Gothic Tales original set with the book for ages and never quite found it for a good price or in the right condition. I have the movies individually but I'd still like to get my hands on that set and I do love a good Arrow book. Tell me, do the titles in that set also come with booklets inside (which the individual releases I have do) with different stuff to the big set book or is all of the individual booklets just collected into the book and the individual titles don't have booklets? I've always been curious and haven't been able to find anything definitive online to clarify. Be cool when you have a chance if you could provide some insights into that mystery! Thanks! I think my favorite Arrow set is the Gamera complete set (which I am also lucky enough to own). I also hope Criterion (or someone else) do further box sets of the rest of the Godzilla eras. Love myself some Kaiju battling cinematic goodness! PS: where did you get the shelving from? I have my eye on some but want to compare to yours to see the height and capacity difference. I want to get the best bang for buck in terms of capacity so having something as close to floor to ceiling would maximize that I think. Have a link or something to the exact shelving?
Hey Darren, thanks for that! Yeah we certainly were very lucky to grab the Six Gothic Tales set when we did, I'm a sucker for the Arrow books as well. I just checked the boxset and the cases in fact do not come with booklets inside! The book included is quite substantial and has about 80 pages worth of writing followed by a few comics but I do wonder if excerpts from the book were taken and made into booklets? If you need some more info on the book itself, let me know! I would love Criterion to release the other Godzilla films as well, it'd definitely be something I get immediately haha. As for the shelving, I got them from an Australian seller but they may be available internationally as well. The brand is called Artiss and each shelf is marketed to store 528 dvds per unit. The shelves are adjustable and we're happy with them. They're not without downsides though - the material is a little bit cheap and for some reason a couple of the rows aren't sitting perfectly so some movies don't slide in very well. That said, they were cheap at the time and do what we need them to do so overall we're happy :) I checked the dimensions online and it says the overall dimension is 102 x 23.5 x 194.5 cm.
@@amateurfilmies8844 cool, really appreciate you getting back to me with all of that info about Six Gothic Tales and the shelving. I have my eyes on a few shelving solutions at the moment and currently still deciding. You're probably not going to want to hear this, but the Battles Without Honor and Humanity complete collection is back in stock on Arrow's website for 30 pounds. I like Inferno and yes, the underwater scene is amazing. The Zombie Flesh Eaters steelbook is beautiful. Madman is great, very atmospheric. Squirm is good, but I prefer Slugs. Hounds of Love is amazing. Dead End Drive In is awesome and it's Australian and Brian Trenchard Smith directored it. I liked Cruising. Are you going to get the Children of the Corn boxset?. Amazing collection, Matt.
The one on sale now is not the same as this one.. doesn't come with the book. Which as you know some of us silly collectors froth at the mouth for the original limited editions with those lovely books! Sad but true! 😳
Hey Andrew! Yeah I saw that announcement lol. As Darren said though, this set is still unique in that it includes the book, separate cases and I believe some exclusive special features (I could be wrong though). With that said, I still think it's great that Arrow are releasing a standard edition of the films bundled together and if I had never found the limited edition box I would have certainly gotten the new one. Glad to hear you liked Madman, I'm looking forward to that one for sure. And same for Dead End Drive In, it sounds very interesting and am glad to know you enjoyed it (makes me even more keen to watch it!). And yeah Sarah and I will absolutely be getting the Children of the Corn box set, we were very happy to see that get announced. Thanks so much for watching mate, hope you've been well!
Such an amazing collection Matt! Aptly timed too for the Camp Arrow II sale. I had to go back for a second purchase because of some of your commentary, so thank you for that. Always good to see you my friend, hope you both are doing well!
Hey Nathan! I'm glad I was able to convince you to check out some more titles while the sale was still on, I hope you end up enjoying them when they arrive! Thanks very much for watching mate, hope you've been well too 😊
Glad to hear you like it too, I REALLY want to watch it sometime soon. I actually was about to watch Tokyo Drifter but had to delay it, have you seen that one by Sezuki by any chance? And thanks for watching mate!
Great collection - In terms of numbers I have something similar but there are a few titles in yours I'm envious of and would love to have in my collection - The price of the Gamera set put me off at the time but its a massive regret now. I have been buying less Arrows over the past year, many of their recent releases dont really interest me. Glad to see another Henenlotter fan, I love all of his movies. Interesting you werent a fan of the Exterminator, its one of my go to guilty pleasure movies - I adore movies depicting American Cities and all their sleaze in the late 70s/early 80s (Taxi Driver, Basket Case, Deadbeat at Dawn, The Warriors) so Exterminator is right up my street. I take it you havent picked up many of the early Arrow DVD releases? There were a lot of movies that they put out on DVD but not Blu Ray such as Martin, Stendahl Syndrome, Christmas Evil, Macabre and The Deadly Spawn - decent releases and worth a grab if you see them for cheap.
Hey mate! Yeah we certainly got lucky with the Gamera set. While the big limited set is now OOP, I'm still glad Arrow have at least put out some standard edition boxsets/steelbooks for those who missed out. That's totally fair, I must say that we've haven't been picking up too many Arrows over the past few months. There are definitely some announcements that we're excited to get but for the most part I'm happy to wait until the newer titles are discounted a bit during the sale before taking a chance on them. Some recent ones that we've been really interested in getting though are Dune, Children of the Corn trilogy, A Tale of Two Sisters, True Romance and The Daimajin Trilogy. Henenlotter is a legend! Absolutely love the movies that I've seen from him. I also really like the sleazy city setting you described and really love all the other movies you mentioned but I just didn't vibe The Exterminator when I first watched it. As I said though, I'll definitely give it another go to see if I enjoy it more on a second viewing. And yeah we don't have any of the early Arrow DVD releases actually. I do generally try to get blu-ray when possible but if I see them cheap I'll definitely consider picking them up. I'm looking forward to seeing the Martin release by Second Sight and have been keeping an eye out for a cheap copy of the Stendhal Syndrome from Blue Underground. The Deadly Spawn is supposed to be great fun from what I've heard also. Cheers for watching mate, hope you've been well!
That's a cracking collection 👍 I totally understand the backlog issue, I try to only buy films I want to watch (unlike lots of collectors I see buying everything from every distributor going) and still struggle to watch everything. I will add that I watched Microwave Massacre at a friends and was overjoyed that I hadn't wasted £5 in the BOGOF sale at HMV 🤣
Hey mate! Yeah in the past I've definitely been guilty of trying to pick up everything I can from distributors but we've slowed down a bit and are trying to be a bit more selective with our choices. Lmao yeah Microwave Massacre is definitely a hard sell, you did the smart thing in watching a friends copy instead hahaha. Cheers for watching mate!
A question with all these video collections is, does someone collects movies/titles or dvd/blu ray from specific brands...?Because there are so many differences between films...I mean, it is quite impossible to like all these different movies...So, a collection is based on what...?
That’s an interesting question. There is an element of aesthetic to collecting movies from the same brand of course but most importantly it’s about the quality of the release and transfer. I’d say that all of our collection is filled with films that we love or that are culturally/ socially relevant. If we do not like a movie generally we tend to sell it on. Our collection is based on our love for both the films and the labels that release them.
Thanks so much! And yeah I saw that Arrow announced a standard edition boxset of the movies, it's really awesome that they're re-releasing it (the films are great too, I hope you like them!). Cheers for watching mate
Hi from the UK. I'll have to watch this video in too parts but you have some great releases. The Slayer" (1981) is not for everyone but i love it, If you've seen the "Nesting"(1980) you will enjoy it for sure. This obviously was on the 72 nasties list over here in Britain and every release thereafter has been horrendous and poorly scanned plus very dark. Thats why i love "Arrow Video" and other companies that take great care in their restorations. To some people it may be a bad movie but these types of films need restoring or they're going to be lost forever. I only recently found out there is no negative for "Hell Night" (1983) except a archival print which is a sad affair. Regards
Looking forward to 101 films upcoming black label edition of Hell Night! Hopefully they have managed to get a great edition out in terms of picture, sound and extra features.
Yeah it's definitely a long video haha, I don't blame you for having to split it up! Glad to hear you're into The Slayer and cheers for recommending The Nesting! I had seen the cover before but hadn't gotten around to checking it out, will keep an eye out for a blu-ray of it. I'm in total agreement, while some of the movies being released aren't going to be for everyone, I have a lot of respect for the boutique companies who are restorning them and subsequently giving me the chance to watch films I might not otherwise have ever known about. Cheers for watching Darren!
@@amateurfilmies8844 it's a great time to be movie fan and film collector that's for sure. If anything there's too much stuff coming out too quickly you my wallet to keep up! I guess the only criticism I have is the tactics up generate FOMO (fear of missing out) due to things like limited releases that you know if you don't buy at retail will sell out and become uber expensive on the second hand market. On the other hand... For those of us that have invested in such things (and I don't invest you monetary gain mind you but in the art of cinema and to feed my passion for film and film history) perhaps it will be a bonus that the collection might actually be worth something one day when eventually handing it down? Who knows. First World problems right? 😊
@@darrenblizzard3851 As i know it will be the exact release Stateside from Shout Factory. There is no negative or elements to obtain except a archival print (As would be shown in cinemas) So no 4K release ever.
I know I'm late to this video, but I felt the same way with the Phenomena soundtrack. I like the music, it's just not really fitting. I kind of enjoyed it during my first viewing, though I did find it out of place. After multiple viewings, I'm kind of asking why Argento went with it. I do really enjoy Argento's films. Phenomena is as amazing as the best of them, but the music is so vastly different from the atmosphere. Still a great movie, but every single time I watch it I am taken back a bit when the heavy guitar riffs blare seemingly out of nowhere. Take Suspiria for example. Great movie, great visuals, and great score. I don't know if Argento was kind of experimenting with Phenomena, but I can't name any other film he has made where the music was just not fitting. Also, is it odd that I think Tenebrae was a better giallo than Deep Red? Deep Red is a classic, but I don't think it's the "creme of the crop" when it comes to giallo, which seems to be a common consensus. I can name multiple giallos that I enjoyed far more, and some directed by Argento himself. Opera is far better in my opinion for example. I think Deep Red is a good starter film I suppose.
What a huge waste of money. Arrow fanboys will buy anything! As long as it's a film no ones ever heard of it's a guaranteed 20 bucks from you all or 40 if it's in an oversized cardboard case🙄 You'd probably buy a turd if it was packaged in a steelbook & had Arrow stamped on it lmao🤣

Thanks very much for watching mate, hope you've been well too 😊
Branded To Kill is awesome!
Glad to hear you like it too, I REALLY want to watch it sometime soon. I actually was about to watch Tokyo Drifter but had to delay it, have you seen that one by Sezuki by any chance? And thanks for watching mate!
@@amateurfilmies8844 Yes. It’s very cool. I prefer Branded To Kill though 🔥
@@JohnnyCoffeen haha I guess the only solution is to watch both! Cheers mate 😊
Love Arrow! ❣️Are you here in Australia?
Nice collection! Too bad that arrow video doesnt offer their movies in germany...
Thanks mate! And yes that is a shame, they at least need to diversify their language and subtitle options
Our collection is based on our love for both the films and the labels that release them.
great video, lovely collection.
I've pre ordered the battles without honour set, 30 quid, bargain.
Love your collection I've just started a horror channel love horrorman
You'll save a lot of money if you stream movies first. Then you'll know which ones are worth owning and which ones are trash.
Your collection is amazing im hoping to get there some day ..I follow you and wife on Instagram great video as usual 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much mate! Awesome to hear that you're generating your own collection :) Glad you enjoyed the video mate, we both really appreciate you watching. Cheers 😊
