9:30 Awesome job here with the production. It really sets the erie tone and it's great to see Orthodox content that touches on modern issues while using presentation that resonates with a modern audience.
Thanks father. Gods presence causes a dry morsel and water into a banquet. His compassion is the bread we know nothing about is one pleasure. Your love is better than life said king David. I thank God for you father and praying 4 you. I'm new to orthodoxy but have been praying and fasting 4 years by God's grace.
But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'" -Matthew 4:4
Thank you Father! All your videos are right on time, as these questions were in my thoughts last night. Is there a video you have on the “rules” of what’s legitimate and permitted in an a orthodox marriage during times of non-fasting, non-Lenten durations. Thank you 🙏🏼🕊️
Abstaining from legitimate, natural sex in the context of marriage during fasting days (Wednesdays, Fridays, fasting seasons and one day fasts) has destroyed many pious Orthodox Christian marriages. Yes, sex should be placed on a lower priority during fasting days, but not completely abstained from. St. John Damascus isn't talking about abstinence but the focus on moderation and placing the pleasures of the soul as primary. Based on my study and the research of several Orthodox Christian Church historians, theologians and clergymen, insisting on abstinence from married sex during fasting days is an innovation that leaked into the Church from Papism (due to certain historical trends of placing celibacy/monasticism on a pedestal in Papism). When we read about the early Church, we see that abstinence from married sex was only insisted for the evening, night and morning/day prior to receiving the Holy Communion. So abstinence from married sex was only from the evening until the receiving of Holy Communion. That's also the time when we don't eat or drink, a time of complete fasting. It's very hypocritical when clergy talk about the problem of low birthrates while they at the same time insist on abstinence from married sex during fasting days. When you combine the number and dates of fasting days with the number and dates of fertile days of a woman and the chance for conception (both of which vary due to countless elements), the chance for a pious obeying married couple to conceive a baby during a year is extremely low. I haven't heard Fr. Josiah talking about birth rates, so I'm not calling him personally a hypocrite. I'm talking generally. And that hypocrisy is usually a result of ignorance. And for those who want to use 1 Corinthians 7:5 as an argument... What I said is actually completely in line with the verse. And the word "fasting" in that verse is a later addition. It's not present in the earliest copies of 1 Corinthians.

Struggle, obedience and discipline. All are needed if one wishes to take part in the full joy of Christ.
