This looks INCREDIBLE!!! Easily one of the best games of all time, and the fans are making it EVEN BETTER!! So incredibly exited for when this reaches a stable state, you have no idea!!!!
Can't believe I'm finally seeing SF64 in 60 frames and widescreen. Looks amazing! Can't wait to play this port! I didn't think this would happen that soon.
After all these years, we are finally unlocking the technology to see these games the way we thought they looked when they were first released. Simply beautiful.
Simply beautiful. I swear this is how I remember it on my n64 back in the 90s, minus the wide-screen of course. Cannot wait til its release, already modded my n64's controller for it.
Can't wait for this to be played while extremely modded, uncompressed voice lines and HD textures, might be like discovering fire for the second time for me.
I just hope there's interest in an Animal Forest PC port if it is decompiled. Paper Mario reached 100% decompilation over a year ago, but the decompilation team said they have no interest in a PC port, so it never happened.
It doesn't need to be ported for a full translation, just decompiled. Once decompiled the source can be modified with translated text patch, then recompiled into a playable rom. Once decompiled a pc port is mostly about building a toolchain so that the code can be compiled for a different processor than the N64 MIPS processor. All of this is a ton of work though that in most cases has to be done for free...
There's really no point aside from morbid curiosity. The original N64 game is so lacking in features (no Museum, no Able Sisters, no Island) that you can really see all it has to offer without the translation if you know your way around.
You have no fucking clue how much it burns in me hearing the menu theme. Not really in a bad way, but still not one i enjoy. Simply because it takes my mind back to the first time playing it. My best friend got it for his birthday and we played it so much. Even have still a picture of that day on my PC. That... 3 years and it has been 30 years. 3 fucking decades. God damn.. i just want to go back.
these projects are purely to bring the games to 60 fps, and add "some" extra features, this is by no means a remaster or re release, the rom is not altered, and NO SOURCE FILES are in the program, YOU STILL NEED AN OFFICIAL ROM FROM AN OFFICIAL CARTRIDGE. This is all done this way to keep Nintendo from shutting it down due to 0 nintendo made assets being used within the program.
Really hype to see that there's already a functional beta of this!!! The wait for it to be properly playable and public isn't nothing compared to waiting for the day a video like this confirming something on the way - this is gonna be a real treat to play when its done 🎉
Dude, this is amazing as heck. I can already see mods that can make the game similar to what the 3DS version looked like but maintain the technical fidelity of the original. That would be dope. Now imagine if they port F-Zero X...
I looked to see what kind of progress there is for F-Zero X and from what I've gathered there's a few decomp projects out there but it doesn't look like any recomp projects are in the works. One of the decomp projects I found has had recent activity though and recomps don't usually begin until after decomp is complete (it is technically possible to use a tool to recomp from a ROM to a PC port without fully understanding the source code but it makes it a lot harder to fix bugs or create mods, it does look like that's an approach some folks are going to go with in the hopes it encourages more people to help with decomp).
Marvellous...absolutely Marvellous. If we can just get Smash 64 and Banjo-Kazooie and/or Tooie (Tooie's better, fight me), we'll be truly feasting with these definitive ways to experience N64 Classics courtesy of truly passionate fans, because the IP owners sure as hell ain't gonna bother making definitive native ports of their beloved classics - they'll only seethe and mald with pure, unbridled rage if word gets out to them and they unleash their unstoppable Nintendo Ninjas like the whiny, spoiled little scuzzbuckets they are.
I only managed to catch the end of this stream but I am so excited for this. Seeing Macbeth and Aquas running at more than like 10/15 FPS consistently is amazing!
Widescreen and 60 fps is amazing. Didn't know or expect my favorite N64 game to get the PC port treatment. Can't wait for the full release! HD Textures, raw audio added, and even quality of life improvements from the 3DS version like gyro controls and score attack would make this the definitive remake.
This will be a welcome addition to the ranks of PC ports! I don't have the patience for N64 emulators anymore, so I just play on my real N64, but having it on PC is gonna be killer. This looks buttery smooth at 60 fps, I can't wait.
Ahhh I'm so happy star fox is 2nd game I love in N64 during my childhood the 1st place is both zelda games. You guys are legendary for this PC port and I can't wait to see mods in the future. I wonder if the game cube will ever get a PC port someday because both adventure and assault needs a lot of polishing and I can't comprehend the mods with these games if that ever happens.
I was legit just thinking about grabbing an emu and getting SF64 again, but now? I can wait for this bad boy to be released. Is it still on track for a december release?
Every time i see a Native port like this, my first tought goes to mods. Imagine playing as samus on his gunship, Or kirby in his starship Plus all the extra pilots all across the series It always gets me excited for these games futures
like imagine a game mode where you have 2 teams of 4 (or more) and each team has a mothership/great fox that are launching missiles at each other and you have to blow them up. This game has some great potential for alternative modes and lots of fun
Seems like there a some little things with visuals and audio that need a bit of fixing. Like how Andross' hands aren't metallic and his voice doesnt reverberate for example.
Will be neat to someday see the uncompressed audio modded vack ij by someone. I played with it on 3ds and it was very nice except for it being only in the left speaker.
(Copy and paste of a comment I posted elsewhere and didn’t feel like retyping): There’s this really cool Star Fox fan game you’ll probably want to check out called Star Fox Event Horizon. It’s basically a reimaging of the 64 continuity using content from the other reboots. It’s really impressive what the guy was able to make. There’s a crazy amount of content. The creator UndyingNephalim/IceCreamMan got Krystal’s original voice actress to do work for his mod (mod for Freespace Open. This open source game, so it’s 100% free). It’s a lot of fun. Unfortunately, due to engine limitations you can’t really have on foot missions, so Adventures/Assault won’t feel right (he’s also cramming a bunch of stuff from Dinosaur Planet into the Adventures arc, which simply doesn’t work). There’s tank missions, but they’re super janky. A lot of the characters have UGLY faces (they’re well animated/expressive, but they don’t look right). The guy might also be a pedoman. Back in the day me made this cringe RPG Maker Zelda fan game called Time’s Menagerie. It’s a sequel to his Fallen Sage fan game. In it he made nude loli drawings of his kiddy waifu Saria (there weren’t any “details”, but that doesn’t make it any less disturbing. She was a clone who didn’t have any memories and looked YOUNG, so mentally and physically she was a child), he has sus stuff with underaged characters, and there’s this one part where this poor Zora woman has been gone for a few decades and was used by this octopus man against her will to breed an army of Zora Octoroc hybrids. In this Zelda rts he made later on he shipped an ambiguously aged Saria with a much older man, and when he was confronted about it in a livestream he gave the Ken Penders excuse that “it’s a backwards medieval world, and that kind of thing happened then”. Except unlike Ken Penders who left it at that before moving onto another dumpster fire this guy will go ON AND ON about how much better medieval society was from what we have now, and how we should go back to the good old days🤣. In his Gerudo Wars comic with art that looks like Ken Penders attempt at a Zelda manga on the official fan wiki for his Zelda setting it talks about how the Kokiri are “an immortal race of forever children”, and said that Saria (one of the previous mentioned children) is “heavily pregnant”. Insert my boy PPP screaming WOAH BUDDY then going on a righteous rant about sickos🤣🤮
Impressive! I know it's early days but the option to enable / disable the 'film grain' effect that the fade-ins and outs have on the original. Also, I never though I'd ever say this but the parts of the game that use motion blur (mainly the warps) look like they need to have the effect amplified a bit. I could barely notice it. Possibly a side effect of the 60fps motion?
Damn that's smooth as BUTTER! Nintendo needs to off their butts and away from closed exclusivity shit and just launch a PC store for games like this. :)
I want to know what i need to get this working once it gets releeased. will this just be somewhere for us to download or will there be more i would have to do in order to play?
That is unlikely to be an official option since they came from a leak, but they can be modded in somewhat easily once custom asset support is eventually added.
I bet there are people salivating about the prospect of potentially playing this with a flight stick one day
Flight stick + VR headset 😎
You can play with a flight stick via an emulator. I've done this nearly 20 years ago 😅

Can't believe I'm finally seeing SF64 in 60 frames and widescreen. Looks amazing! Can't wait to play this port! I didn't think this would happen that soon.
Holy shit, this look SO good. I love these decomp projects. First Zelda, now Star Fox. You guys deserve all the awards in the world.
This is fantastic news, StarFox64 is one of my favourite games. Love seeing any 64 game being ported. Can't wait to see what kinds of mods get made
It makes me so happy that people still show this game love. It's literally on my mount Rushmore of games. Thank you guys.
I guess I should be thankful.
Thankgiving

I can’t wait to see this get modded with high quality uncompressed voice lines.
This!
Lylat Reloaded high definition texture too perhaps..??
There is some mod that makes falco a complete ass too with new lines haha
I was thinking the same thing! Finally we might be able to use those high quality audio that we got with that gigaleak

I can't wait for animal forest 64 to be decompiled. Not for the pc port exactly, but for it being possible to be finally fully translated.
I just hope there's interest in an Animal Forest PC port if it is decompiled. Paper Mario reached 100% decompilation over a year ago, but the decompilation team said they have no interest in a PC port, so it never happened.

@@apollo4295 for Animal Forest they said the same. No interest in making a pc port.
There’s actually an Animal Crossing GameCube Decomp which is closer to completion than the N64 one for now.
There's really no point aside from morbid curiosity. The original N64 game is so lacking in features (no Museum, no Able Sisters, no Island) that you can really see all it has to offer without the translation if you know your way around.
A big thank you for the very smart people who make such things possible.
Spectacular. Star Fox 64 is the best corridor shoot 'em up of all time. Can't wait to play a truely upgraded port.

wonderful news! i love this game to death and i'm excited to see new life given to this classic!
Yoooo, your vid is how I find out a native SF64 port is happening? This is cool af homie

You should check out the Mystical Ninja recomp also, it's insane

crazy news! I wish someone port Wave racer 64 to PC too :)

download a rom -- input the rom into the game maker -- it will rip what it needs from the rom and build the pc version
The standard with this ports so far is that you have to install a setup from the official site and you must get the rom of the game.
I Wish they had a way to combine Venom 1 & 2 into one level.
Amazing! Do you know if the team plans to use the uncompressed voice audio? (I’m still watching, forgive me if eventually answered)
Pretty sure they won't. Decomp efforts never use leaks, I believe that would be illegal.
That is unlikely to be an official option since they came from a leak, but they can be modded in somewhat easily once custom asset support is eventually added.
