      I'm happy it helped! I'm surprised Toyota made a bulb replacement this tricky, but I guess they have their reasons.

    Thanks, I am always worried about breaking the plastic connectors when I am removing all of the plastic parts to get to items like brake lights......good video!

      I know, the clips always stress me out too! I'm happy the factory usually uses a bunch so if a couple get broken I can still get it back together and I have started buying little bags of clips off Amazon as they are getting really cheap. I'm glad the video helped!

    Great videos! 👍 would you happen to know what the little white clips are called? They're the ones on the light assembly that you pinch together so the assembly unclips from the vehicle.

      Hello, thanks for watching! I couldn't find the name of the clips, but if you have a dealer close by, the parts counters has always been good about printing out the exploded assembly diagrams and we work together to determine the parts I'm after. If you don't have access to a local dealer a Google search for a parts diagram may help determine the name. Best wishes!

    Thanks for video. First time writing on here. I own an old Toyota Matrix 2004, basic model. There's an issue with the rear brake light on the right. Left side is fine. Tried to change the bulb. it's not that. Pushing break pedal only lights the left side. I also noticed that when the engine is off, and I turn the headlights to high beams, the lights in the back also light up - and both sides. - all the lamps! I know, this sounds like a mistery. Any advice would be aprreciated. Thx.

      Hello, I have thought about this and only have two ideas. My first thought is that the bulb socket may have been damaged by corrosion if water has ever leaked into the lens, but it would probably be obvious as the bulb you removed would likely have evidence of corrosion. Secondly, I have heard of instances where the tail light wiring harness has a sharp bend or can abrade on the lens mounting screw, but it is odd that it would fail without shorting out first and blowing the fuse, but I have heard of it. Wishing you luck as that seems very strange!

    Are we suppose to touch bulb with fingers?

    • @andrew_ball
      @andrew_ball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, thank you for your question! High performance bulbs like halogen headlight bulbs should not be touched as they get extremely hot and oily deposits from fingers can create an uneven bulb surface temperature which can interfere with the tungsten / halogen gas cycles in the bulb which could shorten its life. For regular tail light and marker light bulbs it does not really matter as they do not get hot enough to allow surface contaminants to alter their lifespan much, but for piece of mind they can be wiped clean after installation.

    Geez there is no open latch on the interior rear door....the lift gate exterior latch broke. Can't open it to replace drive side rear light bulb(brake).

    • @andrew_ball
      @andrew_ball  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, sorry to hear about that. At the same time I made this brake light bulb replacement video, I also made a video on replacing the rear latch which is part of the playlist this is attached to, hopefully that will help. The interior trim panel on the tailgate can be removed with the tailgate closed, but the rearmost seats would need to be moved forward to give you room to work. Replacing the rear latch takes a little finesse, but it is not too bad of a job and is pretty cheap if you do it yourself. Best wishes and many happy returns!
