Game cartridges in the 90s had only 4MB of memory, so developers had to be economical with their resources. Creating two sets of sprites for both sides of Kano's face would've been hard on memory.
I've been watching your videos for a while and I gotta say that they are great. The sprites animation quality is pretty good and the episodes are quite entertaining. I couldn't help but notice that you stated that you'd like to bring MK3 story to life in your first remake video, but aren't you doing your own storyline? If I recall correctly there are not emeralds in the official canon and Shao Kahn managed to invade Earthrealm because he has Shang Tsung resurrecting Sindel, his "wife", in Earthrealm. Which gave him the protection from the Elder Gods obliteration and allowed him to invade Earthrealm in order to save his "loved one". I also couldn't help but notice that a lot of characters that didn't die in the events of MK3 just got killed. Don't get me wrong, your work is amazing. You're not really bringing MK3 story to life though, you're creating your own version of the MK lore (like the MK movies and web series). The canon lore was set up by John Vogel and John Tobias with the MK comics, strategy guides, trading cards, character bios and things like that. But Reconciliation is way too different than what was set up by then and that's why I'm commenting. Shouldn't you say this is your own version of the story other than saying that this is MK3 story brought to life? Some people who have no knowledge of the lore may get confused. Anyway great work man, keep up those videos!

Mortal Kombat storylines have always been poorly writen with many contridictions. *cough MKX * I think the best MK games in terms of story was Deception and Shaolin Monks. They should've continued with the Shaolin Monks games and carry the story into MK3 in Shaolin Monks II.
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation The story was usually poorly written but suited the games, and for a fighting game it was pretty good. I didn't like the path MK:SM storyline took very much, and well, it's not a canon game so I should've expected them changing a lot of stuff. I agree with you about MK:D though, it had a great background, good explanations for what was actually happening and a main character that didn't felt OP without reason (looking at you, Cassie Cage). I mean, Liu Kang was trained by the White Lotus Society his whole life, since he was a child. He was trained to be the Earthrealm champion and defender by Raiden and Bo' Rai Cho themselves and learned ancient shalin techniques. He was made to fight Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung. Onaga gave Shujinko a skill where Shujinko was able to absorb the powers of anyone he trained or came across with, he fought and trained his whole life and learned how to fight like pretty much the whole MKD roster and even some more characters. That's what made him fit to defeat Onaga after he discovered the truth behind "Damashi". Now in MKX we have Cassie Cage. The daughter of Johnny and Sonya, descendant of a Mediterranean warriors race and a military. Did she receive ancient training? No. Was she trained to be Earthrealm's protector? No. She was just a goddamn military cocky girl. And she managed to defeat Shinnok that easily just because her powers awoke when she saw her dad in danger? One of the worst writings in the MK history. Raiden almost destroyed Earthrealm in his fight with Shinnok. A lot of people were killed in MK4 before Liu Kang managed to defeat Shinnok but Cassie just kicked his but like that? I was really pissed off. Anyway I love the MK universe and the original trilogy story, even if the writing is not always the best and I think MKX story was pretty good save for some chapters and the ending. I mean, D'Vorah's chapter was really great and had some twists I didn't see coming. Kotal's was also pretty good. Now Jacqui, Takeda, Sub-Zero and Cassie's chapters felt so "meh". Sometimes I think John Vogel forget about the past events he wrote in the MK universe. There are giant potholes like Kenshi's, who was supposed to save and be trained by Ermac in order to develop his telekinesis skills, but since Raiden changed the timeline this didn't happen, yet Kenshi can use telekinesis, which doesn't make sense at all.
Diogo Nepomuceno There were no build ups in MKX at all. No character was put over as strong or unbeatable. Everybody gets beat up by everybody which makes the top antagonists look useless. A former elder god WITH his amulet should have godly power even great than Raiden, yet he gets smacked around like a bum. Some characters had no story at all like Ferra/Torr and Erron Black. The only interesting storyline was with Kotal Kahn because he was a neutral character. When you first meet him it's hard to tell if he's good or bad, but in the end he turns out to be on his own side. Plus there was no explination for what happened after MK9. Sub-Zero is supposed to be Cybernetic but he's human again for some reason.
Mortal Kombat Reconciliation There are explanations for what happened between MK9 and MKX but they're not in MKX. The MKX comic books connect the story and explain the events after MK9 and before (and during) MKX. It was explained why Sub-Zero was turned back into his human form and gave us some Erron Black and Ferra/Torr background. The comic explains how Kotal Kahn created the rebellion and earned his follower's respect, I don't wanna spoil too much for you though. I just wish they didn't make Erron Black and Ferra/Torr "punching bags" who get beaten by everyone like they did with Reptile and Baraka in this new timeline. Erron Black gets his ass kicked even in the comic books, but at least he do some important things before (if it were not for him, Cassie and Jacquie could've been killed). So yeah, MKX characters have a story but those stories are not developed in the story mode. They're developed in the comics and in their bios, pretty much like how it used to be in the good 'n old MKs (not that this is a good thing). Anyway everyone got to beat up everyone since MK9, this is something I really find bad and lazy about the new MKs story mode. There are some great things about MKX story mode though. There's way more character development than in the previous games, even though some characters were not developed at all. The characters feel way more realistic, for they have psychological conflicts not only with themselves but with the ones around them, and this is kinda new to the MK since we didn't see much of that before (save for some characters like Kung Lao). You can see that Cassie, for instance, holds a lot of pressure and has the world on her back. She's young but her mother is Sonya Blade and her father Johnny Cage, both Earthrealm defenders, and she's supposed to lead a new group of Earthrealm defenders. This adds a lot to the characters. It was not a bad story mode and it was far better than MK9's, but the ending and some characters just felt bland and they had potentital, which is really sad.

Looks to me like I created a texture, then created the borders around the face and the text. The blood effects are the real blood sprites from MortalKombatWarehouse.com. The large blood slatters are from royalty free green screen stock footage. You can search for these green screen effects on google or TH-cam. Don't buy any premium green screen footage online because it's a scam, the free stuff is just as good.

+Mortal Kombat Reconciliation the music is great for pumping up all of the senses in your body. these tracks are awesome to fight to and the special force are awesome ass kickers and that is my most favorite faction in mkx. I like the black dragon as well, they were awesome as well. In part 8 I Liked the crotch attacks that were epically added in the Episode. God Bless you and keep up the amazing work
