I forgot to mention this when I was talking about "high character".. But there is a huge difference between "character issues/high character" vs "immaturity issues". If you are a low character person, you cannot coach that out of somehow, vs someone who is immature could mature and wake up with good leadership/direction.
I love the idea of taking production over traits. Vontaze Burfict comes to mind. Even my high school safety was as slow as a lineman but he broke the state interception record. If you can play you can play period.
Not taking Jeanty if he's available would be criminal. Outside of Travis, he's the biggest star in this draft. He's a very classy and well-spoken kid. And he's damn near impossible to tackle. The Raiders have historically passed up on players that ended up being all-time greats. Why would you want them to continue that trend?

Jeanty is a must get because He will be transcending talent at running back that can break plays. One thing I've been telling people every game he had at least anywhere between 50 to 70 yd touchdowns on one carry. That makes him special. Boise State don't have nobody that's going to be drafted in the top two rounds on their offensive line. If you got the chance to get the best running back out of a deep class of running backs, you get the best running back.
These are my favorite of your videos. Love the background info on staff & players. Appreciate your work on this. Looking forward to seeing what Spytek can bring. Hope MD stays out of personnel & lets him stay here for a while. Thanks, Sanjit.
I’m beyond drinking the cool-aid of optimism but a positive direction has to start somewhere the highiring of Spytek may be the first step in a positive direction. Telesco drafted okay but going with Minshew as free agent QB was doomed to failure. Why would anyone think that would work.
I also think he has the soul of a Raider. I like his high-octane approach to dismantling defenses. AND we can have tons of "Dart Raider" gear that will make Davis lots of money.
Barton over Powers-Johnson is very similar to taking Tyree Wilson over Jalen Carter. I can't decide who's better, but I'm leaning towards JPJ .because it's rare to see someone playing with the intention to hurt people on the O-line. Telesco did something right by stealing Bowers & Powers-Johnson in his first 2 picks. Imagine if we had Telesco 2 years ago ,Jalen Carter would probably be a Raider .I really hope the Raiders do it right this time. And yes, we need some consistency with the front office to the staff, Rome wasn't built in a day. Just Win Baby is something we all want some consistency in.
Have you heard the recent news about Coen in Jacksonville now that they fired their GM and Spytek hasn’t been officially announced yet? Are we going to have another Kliff Kingsbury situation??
Everyone can talk all the mess we want, if we don't take a QB at 6 or trade up, then we HAVE to take Jeanty. Everyone can talk about not taking an RB that early, and 99.99% of the time, I'm right there with you. This is the 0.01% though. Nothing about him playing for Boise St, or whatever, changes a damn thing about how good he's going to be. We just watched RB's be game changers for teams again, all season long, the position has evolved and Jeanty is the perfect prototype of that evolution, he is 3 different RB's in one. He will be Saquon or Henry or Gibbs, as you need him. Having an RB of that level is like having a high end TE (We also have), it makes any QB's job that much easier, it makes the pass game open up that much more, they can't stack the box against a Jeanty when you can throw the ball to Bowers, and vice versa.
That Running Back pick at #6 is a waste if you don't have a legit Quarterback that's a true Threat to throw the ball down field. The Raiders have to fix the Running Back and Quarterback positions at the same time.
You said in a previous video that not taking jalen carter was a massive mistake. I remember the reason he fell down so low was due to character concerns, no one doubted his talent. Do you think that spytek, with what he says about character, would have also passed on carter or does he make that pick?
Jalen Carter was immature. He never had any issues outside of the racing incident in which the other car he was racing lost control. But he didn't have character issues for example as someone like Damon Arnette had.
Watching the Detroit game(s)you can see how important a RB can be. They selected Gibbs I think #13th in the 1st round. Before making a selection I agree someone needs to find out what the draftee is all about. Al Davis used to draft players based upon measurables not character. Hell in the 60's and 70's quite a few Raider players had a screw loose. That was then, this is now. Drafting a RB at #6 means you're drafting a generational talent. If not then you've got to consider who is else is better on your board.
I am getting kinda excited. The Bucs seem like a strong roster to me. Was it Spytek who took a chance at Baker Mayfield? Kudos if he did. Now, let's just hope he can do the same for us.
@paolo-n2000 Nobody could have predicted Henry Ruggs would find himself in that kind of mess. Missing out on Jalen Carter is a perfect example that you cannot predict a human's future behavior & you cannot entirely judge a human by past behavior.

Jeanty is a great back but I’m not using the 6th overall pick on a running back. There’s lots of good backs in this draft that can be drafted after the first round. Take a prime position player at six.
Draft example: what do you do when you’re on the clock and there is a player who is an extremely productive game changer but doesn’t have the best character vs a player who is very productive but not necessarily a game changer but has very high character traits. Who do you choose? Your team has to get better but you don’t want a nuisance on the team. These are questions GM’s have to answer. These choices often get GMs fired or extended.
