The fact that he kills Juke showed how much Kanan cared about Tariq. Watching Raising Kanan rn and you can see how him and Tariq are literally the sane, it's crazy. As much as he loved Juke, he couldn't bare the idea of Tariq being dead.

Ghost and Kanan knew something that Jukebox did years ago that reminded them of what she could've potentially done at that moment to Tariq, and I believe they've seen her kill kids younger than him without hesitation. Because Ghost was really really scared.

Rewatching shit really makes you realize things. Juke telling Ghost he was “all out of his slick ass moves” was a specific choice of words. Ghost was always a quick thinker, who was persuasive & astute, who always had control of his situations & therefore the outcomes. This moment right here was when Ghost truly did not know who would walk out of that building. Even Tariq saying “Dad!” & Ghost not being able to do or say a single thing, shows just how helpless he truly was. Juke’s character had mad potential for her to have Ghost(& Kanan) shook like that.
That's cause Juke watched all of them Kanan,Ghost and Tommy grow up running the streets. I believe Tommy was the way he was cause Marvin and Juke both were influences on him. Kanan,Raquel and Lou Lou definitely taught Ghost how to move

This proves Kanan point about Tariq not being built like his son. Setting him up with the police, Killing his dad, being more main stream with the drug game, ( Not using corner boys but technology) killing that cop( for his sister)but he still got a lot to learn. Kanan didn’t kill Ghost out of respect for Tariq, not the other way around but he knew Tariq would eventually make a play on him & his dad, sooner or later. Ultimately, its Juke's fault. She brought Nicole around an environment she shouldn't have been around and knew nothing about. Nobody's mentioning how Nicole had smoked a laced blunt with Famous, and that itself was a gateway to getting high(er). The truth is, and its sad to admit, had Nicole not been around Jukebox, she'd still be alive. Sometimes we aren't good for people.
Wow. Seeing how Ghost loved his son and was crying because he thought it was the end for him, and how Tariq killed him and set Kanan up, makes me think about how there's alot of naturually evil people out there who'd kill you no matter how much you love them.

The writers for Raising Kanan are on point. That scene about two episodes ago where Juke and Kanan were watching TV together, their dialogue set this scene up. It was a nice Easter egg.

If y’all remember this episode, remember before they went in the house to try and save Tariq, Kanan said to Ghost: “Jukebox is gonna wanna kill Tariq the minute she get that money. I don’t know who she got in there wit her, and ion know what they gonna do to me.” ^^^ that raises a red flag. What did he mean, “I don’t know what they gonna do to me.”??? And when Juke started whispering to Tariq, you could see Kanan tryna signal that she was doing too much, So after watching the first episode of Raising Kanan, it’s seems like Juke is the ringleader of they whole squad, she seems to be the one that keeps everybody in check. Because after Kanan kills the dude, everybody immediately came at Juke like “where the fuck was you at???” So it’s slowly starting to all make sense. I’m eager to see how this whole thing unfolds, and how Juke & Kanan develop.

After watching episode 6 raising kanan brought me back to this scene. Kanan and Jukebox was really close. It's fucked up how Kanan chose Tariq over Jukebox.
You could tell they weren’t that closed in the original Power like trust wise after a bit. Also as you saw in this video Juke is a loose cannon. Shit will end up going really south for her.

I'm assuming a majority of Kanan's family ended up betraying him in a real bad way that he made enemies of them in the end and had to clip them and the betrayal route all starts with when they had his friend D-Wiz clipped. Jukebox would be the last person among the family to betray him, right after Shawn.

When Kanan was young, he did not have someone like himself, teaching him the ropes of living out in the jungle. Pretty much how Kanan does for Tariq. That's one of the reasons as to why Tariq reminds Kanan of himself so much. That is where their big and little brother or father and son relationship stems from and Tariq appreciates Kanan's honesty, hence that Kanan tells him the truth about Ghost, while Ghost would always lie to Tariq (but only to protect him from that lifestyle.) Kanan did not want to kill Jukebox, but she kept pushing Kanan, by every moment of her opening her mouth. Even before he confessed to Tariq, as a psychopathic killer, he already made up his mind, from Jukebox's gunpoint that he is going to kill her as soon as she drops her guard, which is what is revealed in the scene. When Kanan finally dies, after being instantly betrayed by Tariq: Kanan killed every police officer and shot the last one in execution, while staring into the eyes of Tariq, while Tariq was in the backseat of the cop's car. Kanan could have killed him but did not - this is Kanan's way of telling Tariq that he loves him, like a son. In his eyes, Tariq was not cowardice, plus Kanan knew he was going to die after that shootout, so he knew if he killed Tariq while he was sitting in the backseat, nobody would get Ghost. If Kanan wanted to kill him, he most certainly would have, as Kanan killed his biological son in execution, during a heated argument. But in this video, this scene - After Ghost hugs Tariq, Kanan had the chance to kill Ghost but doesn't want to, because as time progressed, he began to realize that it shouldn't be him who kills Ghost. He began to see it as something to leave up to Ghost's son, Tariq. Because he understands how much Tariq hates Ghost. For Kanan, in a sick-twisted way, he feels if anyone is going to kill Ghost - it should be his own son. Since Ghost betrayed Kanan, when they were younger - Kanan preferred Ghost to be dead. Kanan cares for Tariq, so he spares Ghost's life for Tariq to finish the life of his father.
“ I ain’t never been good. I wasn’t raised that way” watching raising kanan this line gives you chills because his mom & uncles were killers, & even his dad was a dirty cop. Line just hits harder watching raising kanan cause he’s really a product of his environment.

In retrospect if kanan stayed the person he was he would’ve lived longer, he was cold hearted and knew what HAD to be done but when Tariq came around he shows weakness and compassion which got him killed
nah it was that Kanan simply didn’t see it coming. Tariq was like a son to him & he had in him what Shawn lacked, the affinity for the game. He was mentally built for it & had the brains to match. Kanan was cold asf and his downfall wasn’t showing Tariq compassion, but rather underestimating Tariq’s coldness. His fate was already sealed once he found out he was betrayed, because there was no getting out of it for him.

Rewatching shit really makes you realize things. Juke telling Ghost he was “all out of his slick ass moves” was a specific choice of words. Ghost was always a quick thinker, who was persuasive & astute, who always had control of his situations & therefore the outcomes. This moment right here was when Ghost truly did not know who would walk out of that building. Even Tariq saying “Dad!” & Ghost not being able to do or say a single thing, shows just how helpless he truly was. Juke’s character had mad potential for her to have Ghost(& Kanan) shook like that.

I'm assuming a majority of Kanan's family ended up betraying him in a real bad way that he made enemies of them in the end and had to clip them and the betrayal route all starts with when they had his friend D-Wiz clipped. Jukebox would be the last person among the family to betray him, right after Shawn.

When Kanan was young, he did not have someone like himself, teaching him the ropes of living out in the jungle. Pretty much how Kanan does for Tariq. That's one of the reasons as to why Tariq reminds Kanan of himself so much. That is where their big and little brother or father and son relationship stems from and Tariq appreciates Kanan's honesty, hence that Kanan tells him the truth about Ghost, while Ghost would always lie to Tariq (but only to protect him from that lifestyle.)
Kanan did not want to kill Jukebox, but she kept pushing Kanan, by every moment of her opening her mouth. Even before he confessed to Tariq, as a psychopathic killer, he already made up his mind, from Jukebox's gunpoint that he is going to kill her as soon as she drops her guard, which is what is revealed in the scene.
When Kanan finally dies, after being instantly betrayed by Tariq: Kanan killed every police officer and shot the last one in execution, while staring into the eyes of Tariq, while Tariq was in the backseat of the cop's car. Kanan could have killed him but did not - this is Kanan's way of telling Tariq that he loves him, like a son. In his eyes, Tariq was not cowardice, plus Kanan knew he was going to die after that shootout, so he knew if he killed Tariq while he was sitting in the backseat, nobody would get Ghost. If Kanan wanted to kill him, he most certainly would have, as Kanan killed his biological son in execution, during a heated argument.
But in this video, this scene - After Ghost hugs Tariq, Kanan had the chance to kill Ghost but doesn't want to, because as time progressed, he began to realize that it shouldn't be him who kills Ghost. He began to see it as something to leave up to Ghost's son, Tariq. Because he understands how much Tariq hates Ghost. For Kanan, in a sick-twisted way, he feels if anyone is going to kill Ghost - it should be his own son.
Since Ghost betrayed Kanan, when they were younger - Kanan preferred Ghost to be dead. Kanan cares for Tariq, so he spares Ghost's life for Tariq to finish the life of his father.

In retrospect if kanan stayed the person he was he would’ve lived longer, he was cold hearted and knew what HAD to be done but when Tariq came around he shows weakness and compassion which got him killed
nah it was that Kanan simply didn’t see it coming. Tariq was like a son to him & he had in him what Shawn lacked, the affinity for the game. He was mentally built for it & had the brains to match. Kanan was cold asf and his downfall wasn’t showing Tariq compassion, but rather underestimating Tariq’s coldness. His fate was already sealed once he found out he was betrayed, because there was no getting out of it for him.
