I'm still wondering how they made the visualizer react to the beat like that, it's such a cool and neat visualizer style.
its not 'reacting' the visuals were created to coincide with the audio..
No he's probably right, the visualizer is reacting to the beat. How this usually works is that the sound track volume is split in to frequency ranges (using a Fourier transformation if your interested in the math). The volume of certain frequency ranges is then mapped to some effect. For example, in this video the amount of distortion of the red surrounding and the angle of the skull seems to be mapped to the volume of the bass.
Of course this won't help you alter the pattern around certain passages of the song like the drop/chorus/bridge. So some human work is still needed to get results like you see at 0:57.
If you're interested in creating something similar, Adobe After Effects has a function to convert audio to keyframes and is often used to make animations like these.
They probably use Red Giant Trapcode Sound Keys with After Effects!

Dubstep will always be considered to be an alternative-sound. Even the sonic-makeup of dubstep (grime, reggae, dub, DnB) are/were all alternative sounds. Its not designed to be part of the mainstream.
Dubstep has only been growing. Overtime I see more and more people at the dubstep stages at music festivals, even massive festivals dedicated to the scene (lost lands)
