Classic oneupmanship, just like Lamborghini did to Ferrari. Back then, if Ferrari had overhead cams, Lambos had DOHC. When Ferrari had 3 twin-choke Webers, so Lamborghinis had 4 triple-choke carbs (one choke per cylinder.) Ferruccio always had to one-up Enzo every time a upgrade came along to a Ferrari. With the Cizeta, everyone else had a V12, so it received a V16...everyone else had pop-up headlights, so he had double. Even the cars dimensions - the widest supercar of its day was the Testarossa, at about 6' wide. The Cizeta was 7' - but somehow, it still retained a sense of proportion, so it didn't appear oversized or lumpen. This is a beautiful, well-proportioned design - and it's what the Diablo was supposed to look like before Chrysler modified the original design and basically screwed it up. Note the shape of the front bumper, the headlights, the shape of the side glass...it's all very Diablo, only moreso. (Marcello Gandini, the designer, was famously unimpressed with the changes Chrysler made and took his original design to - yep, Cieta.) 😀
@@aussiebloke609 yup, a classic Italian dick-measuring contest 😂 I’ve seen the original Diablo prototype, and to my eye it looks a little wonky. It’s like someone took a Countach and added an early 2000s JDM fiberglass body kit to it (especially that awkward skirted rear wheel). I don’t know if you’re familiar with it, but the Diablo based Zagato Raptor is far more beautiful than the Diablo or the Cizeta.
Gotta say those huge shirts have gotta be super comfortable and great for Miami weather.. But personally Really not a fan of that style.. To each his own though!
Brilliant automobile. I remember when I heard about it and thought "the guy who made a song with Donna Summer is involved in a car company! " wow! Magnificent nineties exotic car.
Never forget as a teenager reading the issue of CAR magazine in the UK with the Cizeta on the cover, as you say one day it will be the king of kings, stunning car and love you sharing your amazing access to great cars with us. Jaguar XJR 15 is another contender, the EB110 is already there.
Thank you John, for the insight of such a beautiful and incredibly well engineered "time capsule of the 80's and 90's". It is for sure one of the greatest collection master pieces of the time.
Fantastic work John, it's just a shame that it needs a video from someone of your standing, for people to understand the importance and quality of the Cizeta. Such an under rated car!
stunning car! I really like how you appreciate the small details John, it's certainly what makes 80's and 90's European cars in a class of their own, this one especially!
So awesome sauce.... thanks for sharing with us. So many of these types of cars are hidden away that we have no idea about them. Now we do thanks to you!
Lol mates with the previous owner of that Murcielago GT1 at 1:14 . Would still take the Cizeta any day though like damn how they fit two Urraco V8s transverse and still make it fit in a single traffic lane?
If supercars are about extremes, this must be the ultimate, thanks to a crazy 5995cc 16-cylinder engine - transversely mounted! No wonder the Cizeta was so wide, it had eight cylinders across its girth! With 560bhp at a dizzying 8000rpm, the noise was supposedly awe-inspiring at full chat, thanks to 64 valves doing their stuff. It was claimed the V16T could top 204mph, but nobody ever officially tested the car, so who knows? Despite the prototype emerging in 1989, it was 1992 before the first cars were ready; the last was made in 2003. A great looking car, even by todays standards. If i was rich, cars like this would definitely be in my collection. IF i was rich! Thankfully we still have yt to see them.
sold for $1,363,500 USD - the only Cizeta-"Moroder" - I also thought it would go beyond 2 million.. - hope this car will not be just a collectors item & put away in some private garage.
Loving the content and the 4K quality John. A question if you have time: on a car like the Cizeta, very small production numbers with a unique bespoke engine etc is it something you would restore ? Or do you sell it as is ? Just wondering about your thought process here, if you leave it untouched or if you detail the whole car including engine bay/interior. What makes sense to do in terms of financial return when you sell it ?
Fun fact: Claudios test mule was a Ferrari 308. It had the V16 engine and driveline stuffed into it! And Claudio was so secretive about it that said it had a Miura engine in it or some sort of uninteresting boat engine. He even kept it a secret from his wife until the first running prototype was made!
Marcello Gandini was the designer and he didn't designed the 250 but the 308 GT and he also designed Miura, P140, Lancia stratos Zero, De Tomaso Pantera SI
Also, while there is a bit of pounding, we'd refer to one off manually fabricated body panels as being "hand formed", and the S is silent at the end of the word "Concours". It's best to talk like an American (if you are one), or pronounce everything the way its nation of origin would have.
I wasn't 100% sold on this channel at first, but i find myself longing for new vids all the time. Lots of history and knowledge of the cars, great selection. Now i just got to earn some cash to buy something from you. Also was that an engine tick at the end of the video?
It is so interesting that the Claudio at the time had a Miura and a 250 gto and he sold them in order to fund manufacturing cost of this car and they asked him why v16 and he said why not everyone is doing v12s I want to do it my own way so they developed 6.0 liter naturally aspirated v16 only for a low volume production car developing an engine that’s not feasible but they did it
BadA$$ logo. Love that Italian Artist theme. It looks so Italian, but he took it to the next level. If you don't go All-Out, why even try? Always FLEXin'
The REAL STORY -- the one we're not getting -- is how the Sultan of Brunei's car got from Brunei's storage facility to the showroom floor of Curated in Miami, FL.
I still have one Or two magazines about this amazing car I think the white with red interior but this blue is also amazing it's wowwwww what a find, these cars are rare and find one is almost impossible just Like the Bugatti EB110 they were been bought "cheap" Here in europe as an investment and in 2 years a 190k € went to half a million and still going because they know the worth of them... Not these modern VW Bugatti they have nothing to do with the EB110 and John you drive these Countach and Diablo and you know this.
We need a Daddy Doug quirks & features review of this beast.
@The Real Senad Imsirovic no we dont
@The Real Senad Imsirovic the same we who is in your comment
When will we get a follow up and driving video? I've been waiting for two years! 🙂
@@martinsliepins6225we need, you just dont ser it.
Over 3 years since you left that comment and daddy doug still haven’t reviewed this unicorn
The little key laser-blast chime was pretty cool!
That engine sounded like it had a s👋light tick right after idle maybe a cold litter.
I think the Lights opening mechanism has to be my fave part about this V16.
What’s cooler than pop up headlights?
Double pop up headlights.

Love the Baby Doll dress! Adorable!
This is hands down the best supercar TH-cam channel out there!
Big compliment, thank you!
20 year ago, i think I played need for speed for 6 months straight, to unlock this car, it's a legend
This car the Cizeta is Like one of the rarest gems ever like other super cars that time like the Bugatti EB110
I am surprised that there aren't events begging to have you show that car already. God bless the era which produced these awesomely outrageous cars.
That shirt!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Fits like a tent.
Gotta say those huge shirts have gotta be super comfortable and great for Miami weather.. But personally Really not a fan of that style.. To each his own though!

Interesting to see the lighting console in the roof is identical to that in the Alfa Romeo 164. 😁
Thank you John, for the insight of such a beautiful and incredibly well engineered "time capsule of the 80's and 90's". It is for sure one of the greatest collection master pieces of the time.
A better looking car on the video than in pictures. The blue enhances the design of this unique supercar.
Fantastic work John, it's just a shame that it needs a video from someone of your standing, for people to understand the importance and quality of the Cizeta. Such an under rated car!
The “radio off” laser sound got me, I’m enthralled! Can’t wait for a more in depth look!
stunning car! I really like how you appreciate the small details John, it's certainly what makes 80's and 90's European cars in a class of their own, this one especially!
I've always loved this car - especially as the Diablo owes so much to it.
Can you make a video of you driving it ?
So awesome sauce.... thanks for sharing with us. So many of these types of cars are hidden away that we have no idea about them. Now we do thanks to you!
Another great video John. The production quality of your videos is always fantastic. Would love to see more of this car.
It has a unique sound
Because there is pretty much almost no other car in the world with a V16 :)

Such a wonderful acquisition John! Your little guy gets cuter every day. My Best to you and your Family!

Nice work John
Amazing! I'm really looking forward to the test drive!
I loved the 80's excess!👍
I feel that this particular special car could be in no better hands than with Curated. Thank you for sharing with us!
1:05 What's with the maternity sized T-shirt... Is that a new style I'm not yet aware of?
Brilliant Video All The Best Of Health To Everyone.
Sounded like a video game from the eighty's when John turned the key forward 😂
Love this car. I'm old enough to remember the original launch
Fantastic video of such a rare car. I remember as a kid reading about it and being very curious what it's really like
I really like the wheel design.
Un millón de gracias Jonh por compartir/share, tus cocimientos y amor por esas obras de arte, thanks a lot.
Next best to owning it, which isn't going to ever happen! Thanks for your efforts.
Beautiful!
my new favorite chanel :) have watched all your videos. keep it up bro
@TheStradman this would most definitely be an incredible vehicle to add to the collection
Love that a V16 car has an ECON mode :-P
That is for the A/C lol
Key Chime sounds straight sci-fi....so dope!
I love these videos! looking forward to the next one already!
It's been two years - when will we get to see it drive?! 🙂

Very underrated channel.
Awesome automobile. Thank you for sharing.
would love to come down and see this car....
You should do a master series of men behind cars like th se and many others. Even production as well
Excellent !!!

This is an Amazing find !
John where is the test drive video...
What kind of work goes into a car in this condition before a test drive?
Can somebody tell me what color is this called? 💙💙💙
Such a cool car
Very interested to see what the chassis number 001 prototype will go for at RM Sotheby's definitely should be well north of 2 million
sold for $1,363,500 USD - the only Cizeta-"Moroder" - I also thought it would go beyond 2 million.. - hope this car will not be just a collectors item & put away in some private garage.
One question, does it have leather?
Cant ever have enough of this car 👌
Awesome!
Finally! Thank you!
Right hand drive? From Italy
Didn't Gandini design this and the Diablo at the same time? Using a super similar design language for both cars?

You were correct about that future car prediction. Bugatti announced the tourbillion.
What happened to the test drive of this car?
Love the vids but
Whats up w the nightgown ???

I’m curious, is that a V16 from the ground up or is it two V8’s mated?
It's actually a true V16. Amazing really that they fit all those cylinders in without noticeable larger rear fenders.

Yes
Back lights from Alpine A610 turbo
Doug DeMuro would have a field day with that Cizeta.
When are you going to drive the mother ?
I want to hear what a v16 sounds like when it’s approaching the red line 😎
Hopefully it will be soon !
Flown all the way from 🇧🇳 👌

Nope. It sold at RM Sotheby's before we had a chance to film a drive in it.
@@WeAreCurated that’s a shame, I would have loved to of seen it. I’ve been fascinated by this car since I was a kid.
Please do a video on the white Benz
beautiful car of an unrepeatable era, P.S. are you sure that the engine is in perfect condition, the sound at the end of the video doesn't convince me
