I have a belt style humidifier that I use that my dad got back in the 70's. It runs constantly from about dec to feb for the last 40 years.

My HCM-6009 lasted 10 years running continuously (every day, every month) but then the caps started leaking and I can't find replacements. So I have this POS as a replacement.

I have one of these and the best thing is the bottles they are so easy to fill and are 2.5 gallons each, its a simple design and the beauty is in that. Also the design has been in production for so long space parts are easy to get. I broke a valve on a bottle when I dropped it and was able to find one online.

I had one of these. I will say that it was effective. But the auto fan setting always resulted in the fan going to the highest speed and staying there. And then the humidity reading and the humidistat became erratic. The plastic was thin and flimsy. You can see how well it blends with decor in this video... I replaced it with two smaller units of another brand, and I have ordered two more units of yet another brand using a different evaporative mechanism. I am determined to find the best solution to prevent my wife's nosebleeds at our high mountain altitude.

Thanks for the feed back. I can't believe that mine is still running like a champ. I do agree with you though the Auto setting goes to high too easy. I set the speed on ours to 1 with the Auto on. This way it never gets too loud.

My Essick Moist Air unit is 10 years old.
    It has been wonderful!
Easy to fill. Easy to clean.
Unfortunately, this year, the fan on the right side has quit.
I am ticking along through this 2020/2021 winter by laying a small box fan down on the top over the broken fan.
    Seems to do the job.
I am saving my $$$ to purchase a new unit for next year.
I would like to find someone who can repair/service the broken fan.
I like to repair items and keep them in service when I can.

I bought one of these two years ago, for the first year it worked good. Second year it didn't work near as good, seemed like the humidity control was wacky. Might become dumpster food.

Boy, the humidifier business has really gone downhill over the past 10 years. That's how long my Honeywell HCM6009 lasted before the bottle cap spring started to leak. This Aircare 1409 is made from the absolute lightest grade plastic I can imagine. There's not even a handle on the humidifier, probably because the plastic is so flimsy it wouldn't support the weight. Holy cow guys, really?

Not sure what you could be refering to. The unit should be a couple of inches from the wall as this is where the air gets pulled into the unit.

We just Bought The very Same unit today and we filled both tanks and turned on and the humidity is set on 61 but the f button keeps flashing eventhough the tanks are filled to the top

    • @generalproductreview8256
      @generalproductreview8256  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It sounds like you do not have the float in the back of the unit properly installed.
      - I am assuming that it won't run either?
-if it does and you have the float in it might just need adjusting, or is the unit setting on a level floor?

Had same problem. Put together and plugged it in. The fan motor would not switch between speeds, and the digital display and F would flash back and forth. I took apart again and BOOM it started working. Have no idea what I did to fix. This thing seems janky at best. We will see how it holds up

if all else fails tilt the unit so that the front is higher than the back. add a little block of paper or something to bring the front wheels up higher than the back.

I tried this unit and the motor unit failed within a week. The replacement I received didn't last 2 days even before it failed. Both failures were proceeded by a burning smell. It was a shame because it really did put a good deal of moisture in the air.

There no way that this unit can deliver 50% humidity to 2000 sq ft. We are talking about 6000 cu ft capacity. The humidity sensor is so close to the unit for the reason to show the humidity in close proximity. If you will measure that 10 ft fro the unit you will not see that humidity. At 25C or 74F for 100% humidity per cube meter (35.3 cube ft) you need ~25 g of water, at 50% humidity ~12 g. Asuming that outside is 0C and 50% humidity you will reduce your requirement by ~2 g, so you need 10 g of water per cube meter or 1.69 liter of water per air exchange in house. That should be at list 3 time per hour . The meas you need 5 liter per hour or 1.33 gallon per hour. Look like you will need to refil that containers every hour or so .
All this whole house unit are no sense. We need spot humidifier that will blow the air where we are sitting or sleeping.

Wow, If have not done the math but I would expect there are a couple of variables that need to be taken into account. Namely the the acctually HVAC unit you have running. Several of these have humidifiers in and require less. What is the temp out side and how much is the air being cooked by the HVAC unit.

Looks like all their humidifier are the same super noisy at max fan speed and not powerful at slower speeds, with the high price tag for just a fan, wick and digital control in a cheap plastic enclosure...

The temperature difference between outside and inside is the biggest factor. If the environment you live in is really cold and you like your place to stay on the hot side, it takes more water to reach the desired relative humidity.
