Many millionaires are moving to Puerto Rico because you pay 0% capital gains tax! If you are a high income earner, you are paying 40% short term capital gains!
Logan Paul just recently announced that he is moving to Puerto Rico! He is the first major social media influencer to have made this move, and I expect others to follow as well.
If you’re wondering if I’m moving to Puerto Rico or not, I’ll give you the answer to that question!

So even if you learned the game and are playing it you can not take advantage of what foreigners are doing in PR. So it won't matter if you play the game as long as you were born in the island, we are not hating the players we are hating the game which is basically forcing puertoricans to migrate out of their land and bringing foreigners to live in it. Is not poor people making excuses is that they are being excluded from playing the game.

I live here in PR, and was largely influenced to move here from the Philippines for the tax incentives. The community of entrepreneurs is pretty amazing here. People should be aware of some of the expenses and additional taxes that are generally not talked about. There is a municipality tax that is generally 0.5% of gross revenue, so if you have thin profit margins it can be an issue. Also, you have to have at least one employee if you're running your business and pay them a reasonable salary of which they/you pay normal PR income taxes. And finally some of the CPA firms will try and eat you alive with fees because there's just a lack of decent options. I paid over $10,000 in accounting fees this last year. Put all that together and I'd say your business needs to be making around $400k-$500k net a year to be worth it. Otherwise you'll likely do better with the FEIE. Maybe I'll broaden to RE and end up in Vegas lol.

Puerto Rican here. We pay state taxes and not federal taxes (unless we do activities that require federal taxation). How does the government use us taxpayers' money? The same way as the rest of the states: bad or worse 😂. PR has all of the taxes money as collateral for loans, so the government can't use a penny of that for infrastructure. Streets are fkd up, hospitals are struggling (but not as bad as the media says), public education is a mess, electrical grid is abysmal, crime is through the roof, and creating a business is a heavy bureaucracy, just like some states. And now we have this issue of rich people trying to live here to evade taxes...
Believe me, they will not benefit much for living as kings here. Once they experience their first hurricane and earthquake that immediately take out the power worse than what happened in Texas last week, they will not see PR with good eyes anymore. Oh, and they'd better be starting to speak spanish, because the vast majority of our people don't know or speak english.

Great that you are bringing to your viewers. PR is far from perfect, but I applaud the PR Gov for taking action in 2012 to change the course they were heading. A LOT of problems in PR, but if handled properly and your business and you meet all the requirements, then can be a great blessing. Just remember, the whole premise for the ACTs are job and economic creation. They are tightening up the guidelines and fine tuning things, so more is required now than in the past.

I honestly don’t see how people are complaining about it rather than acting upon it. This is actually great for the island because it means additional influx of capital that wouldn’t come here unless this existed. This means you can build a meriad of different businesses yourself around this new influx of capital and gain your own personal wealth.
If your already wealthy and just want the tax breaks PR is not the only place in the world to offer this, catch is you would just have to move elsewhere and if you don’t want to do this then whats your point exactly? Cause thats exactly what they had to sacrifice to get such breaks.
Government wise this is great. Why? This people are coming in and buying property which equals money for the developer and engeneers and construction builders and material distributors. They buy furniture so local ebanists get a cut. They buy cars so dealers get a cut. They buy boats, food, home appliances, local tourism, buy goods that pay the huge sales tax and many many more options of capital influx to the island.

I thought that they get bad hurricanes and floods there? It's like saying I want to move to Florida and wrestle an alligator in my yard and get swept away in a hurricane. Who cares about taxes? If you're making that much money just pay your taxes. Just because there's hundreds of loopholes to sidestep taxes as a rich person doesn't mean it's right. Everyone should pay their taxes and the rich should pay their part instead of letting the poorest pay. I pay thousands a year and I'm poor. Constantly trying to screw other people over so you can have more is a terrible morality problem. You shouldn't be chasing money your whole life because it's harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than a camel to travel through an eye of a needle. It's because you start worshipping money instead of God and you're willing to put him and others aside for your greed. Don't become that.

People have been complaining about taxes for thousands of years. They're all dead now. so get over it. Every single thing in life has a tax or is taxing to your life in some way. I live in Texas. Sure, I don't pay a state income tax. but my local sales tax is high as shit and my property taxes avg. 2.6% (depending on the area of town). And for all that money I save in state income taxes taxes, we have a power grid that cakes it's pants the second shit hits the fan for 2 days. Taxes are what pays for allllll the things that keeps a country stable and open to opportunities to prosper. (that doesn't mean take 90% and leave me with 10%. It means, I'm not going to spend my life being a fucking penny pincher, bitching about how I want 24% taxes instead of 35%. or whatever.) If there weren't taxes, we wouldn't have a military, roads, schools, social programs, or even the government at all. It'd be anarchy. Where you'd have to fend for yourself everyday of the week. Leaving no time to produce a product, flip a house, own a business or anything. I could go on and on, but no one's going to read this whole comment anyway.
