Out of all of the historical inaccuracies in this game, I think the fact that an American soldier is fighting using a British Lee Enfield Rifle is what does it for me lol

I’ve been into WW2 quit a bit ever since I was a little kid and they did an amazing job on graphics and cut scenes, but I just wish they would be a more accurate with the history behind it and all the small things too. They didn’t have fires because they didn’t want to give away their position and get a artillery barrage on top them just small stuff like that I wish they would have paid more attention too. It has a lot of potential for sure honestly.
They most certainly did have fires in the Ardennes...you don't know what you're talking about.

I truly feel like the developers did literally no research when making this game.
They were, especially in this scene where on the Battle of the Bulge the Allied air force were grounded because of the bad weather. So those P-47 was coming straight from the Developer's wet dreams.
The fucking Lee enfields... oh my..
This is probably the worst world war 2 game ever created.
Historical inaccuracies aside, Pierson is by far the worst character. He wouldn't be so bad if he had ANY redeeming qualities. He exists just to be an asshole. The explanation as to why Pierson is such an ass doesn't make him any less hate-able.
He finally becomes decent after a drunken fight with Red. That's it. There is no development.
And the squad mates are beyond forgettable. They're watered down iterations of the squad from Call of Duty 2 Big Red One.

My Grandfather fought in the Adrennes Offensive as a targetter in a tank for the 2nd Waffen SS Panzerdivision "Das Reich"
A great man, 18 years old, fought untill the end when they had to retreat and got out without being captured. He then was moved to the eastern front in Czechoslovakia, where he got captured by Soviet forces and thrown into a prisoner of war camp. He "celebrated" his 19th birthday there and got released after a year when the war was over.
I never met him since he died in '76 from leukemia. But since my dad is the best human being i ever met, he mustve been a great man and a loving father. I hope ill see him in heaven and finally get to meet him.
God bless and RIP to everyone who died, no matter the side they were fighting on..
SS? Hope he didn’t commit any war crimes
@@julianhernandez9646 Unlikely if you take into consideration where he fought.
Also: most ss soldiers didnt commit any war crimes. A small handfull of "Einsatzgruppen" (Taskforces) with help from local militias commited 95% of those.
If you would know history of the second world war, you would know that the SS had a couple of million conscripts over the war and there even were SS logistic and Medical troops. Aswell as scouting troops, engineers and so on.
Work on your understanding of the conflict man, instead of hearing "SS" and immeadetly assuming that the person commited war crimes.

Murder of civilians in Yugoslavia
During the invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, members of Das Reich committed crimes against the civilian population as well as Yugoslav prisoners of war in the area of Alibunar (Vojvodina, Serbia) where an estimated 200 people were murdered. 51 corpses were found in a mass grave in Alibunar's Serbian Orthodox Church's yard, as well as 54 others in the nearby settlement of Selište. The crimes were committed as a retaliation for the involvement of armed civilians during the fighting in the area and the murder of the regimental adjutant.[37]
Murder of Jews in MinskEdit
A support unit of the Das Reich division aided an SS extermination group in the slaughter of 920 Jews near Minsk in September 1941. [38]
Tulle massacreEdit
Main article: Tulle massacre
After the Allied second front opened on 6 June 1944, all resistance groups joined "into the uprising". Part of Das Reich was ordered to attack strongholds of the rural guerrilla bands of French Resistance fighters as it moved to Normandy.[39] After a successful FTP offensive on 7 and 8 June 1944, Das Reich was ordered to the Tulle-Limoges area.[40] The arrival of Das Reich troops "rescued the beleaguered" army troops and ended the fighting in the city of Tulle.[40] On 9 June, in reprisal for the German losses, the SS hanged 99 men from the town and another 149 were deported back to Germany.[40]
Oradour-sur-GlaneEdit
Further information: Oradour-sur-Glane
The division massacred 642 French civilians in the village of Oradour-sur-Glane on 10 June 1944 in the Limousin region. SS-Sturmbannführer Adolf Diekmann, commander of the I Battalion, 4th SS Panzergrenadier Regiment (Der Führer) that committed the massacre, claimed that it was a just retaliation due to partisan activity in nearby Tulle and the kidnapping of Sturmbannführer Helmut Kämpfe, commander of the III Battalion, although the German authorities had already executed ninety-nine people in the Tulle massacre, following the killing of some forty German soldiers in Tulle by the Maquis resistance movement.
On 10 June, Diekmann's battalion sealed off Oradour-sur-Glane, and ordered all the townspeople to assemble in the village square, ostensibly to have their identity papers examined. All the women and children were locked in the church. The men were led to six barns and sheds. One of the six survivors of the massacre, Robert Hebras, described the killings as a deliberate act of mass murder. In 2013, he told the U.K. newspaper The Mirror that the SS intentionally burned men, women, and children after locking them in the church and spraying it with machine gun fire:
It was simply an execution. There were a handful of Nazis in front of us, in their uniforms. They just raised their machine guns and started firing across us, at our legs to stop us getting out. They were strafing, not aiming. Men in front of me just started falling. I got caught by several bullets, but I survived because those in front of me got the full impact. I was so lucky. Four of us in the barn managed to get away because we remained completely still under piles of bodies. One man tried to get away before they had gone - he was shot dead. The SS were walking around and shooting anything that moved. They poured petrol on bodies and then set them alight."[41]
Marcel Darthout's experience was similar. His testimony appears in historian Sara Farmer's 2000 book Martyred Village: Commemorating the 1944 Massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane:[42]
We felt the bullets, which brought me down. I dove... everyone was on top of me. And they were still firing. And there was shouting. And crying. I had a friend who was lying on top of me and who was moaning. And then it was over. No more shots. And they came at us, stepping on us. And with a rifle they finished us off. They finished off my friend who was on top of me. I felt it when he died.
Darthout and Hebras' eyewitness testimony was corroborated by other survivors of the massacre. One other survivor, Roger Godfrin, escaped from the school for refugees despite being shot at by SS soldiers. Only one woman, Marguerite Rouffanche, survived from the church. She later testified that at about five in the afternoon, two German soldiers placed a crate of explosives on the altar and attached a fuse to it. She and another women and her baby hid behind the sacristy; after the explosion they climbed on a stool and jumped out of a window three meters from the ground. A burst of machine gun fire hit all of them, but Rouffanche was able to crawl into the presbytery garden. The woman and infant were killed.[42]
Diekmann was later killed in the battle of Normandy in 1944. On 12 January 1953, a military tribunal in Bordeaux, heard the case against the surviving sixty-five of the approximately two hundred SS soldiers who had been involved. Only twenty-one of them were present. Seven of them were Germans, but fourteen were Alsatians, (French nationals of Germanic culture). On 11 February, twenty defendants were found guilty, but were released after only a few months for lack of evidence. In December 2011 German police raided the homes of six former members of the division, all aged 85 or 86, to determine exactly what role the men had played that day.[43] SS-Brigadeführer Heinz Lammerding, who had given the orders for retaliation against the Resistance, died in 1971, following a successful business career in West Germany. The French government never obtained his extradition from the German authorities.[44]
Also also Das Reich was a volunteer division. So none of that conscription bullcrap.
I kinda realise that COD's impression of the Battle of the Buldge is always the Americans able to hold the line from a thousand Germans.
Reality is often disappointing.
media doesn't portray something close to the truth? imagine my shock
I’m sure the Americans actually had to fall back but the Germans were eventually held off. Kind of common sense.
@@Infamouschef_ yes, that would be for later parts.
There are were quite a large number of US POWs during the Battle of the Buldge since they were unprepared for the surpirse attack.
At lot of the battle of the bulge focuses almost exclusively on the 101st airborne trapped in the middle. A lot of the combat going on during that time related to the 101st was forest combat. Troops hiding in trenches of fox holes simply waiting for the overwhelming amount of Germans coming their way. It sucks but the Battle of the Bulge is often characterized but the actions and combat of few while the rest of the combat is often overlooked
Just to add a little more context, The battle of the 101st Airborne is known as the Siege of Bastogne. The numbers while shaky are estimated to be about 11k Americans fighting against 54k Germans with causalities mostly being unknown
It wouldn't be a AFGuides video without these two things:
Salty children who think you're trash.
And at least one death in a mission because why not?

I still believe this could have been a phenomenal COD game if it was written by people who didn't just watch a bunch of WW2 movies and use every cliche in the book and nothing else, and it was a longer campaign with another story arc in a different theater like how the old COD WW2 games had it where you were jumping all over the place. And didn't give in to PC culture with all that nonsense.
True, and without that annoying scripted events.

Lee-Enfield and no M1 Garand?! In the Ardennes!? Whaaaaaat!? I do not remember hearing about any British being surrounded…I know we were low on supplies, I’m sure there were some old 03’s but I guess it’s symbolic for “work with what you have”, no doubt he could’ve plucked it off a British soldier….. Amazing when you realize all they needed were some tough soldiers and as little supplies needed in the Ardennes, thanks to cracking Enigma, Mr Turing, thank you. Amazing the decisions made for games though.
considering its a scoped Lee, it could be simply that they were short of weapons for designated marksman and hence had a trade with rear American/British forces for anything that could fit the role, it's not like the 1st Inf was directly on the frontline during BoTB, it arrived eventually but in that mean time you could just assume that happened. Black soldiers did fight in the Battle of the Bulge but vast majority were assigned to service, artillery and Tank Destroyer units. One unit did fight as infantry out of necessity. Because of the scope of the German attack the use of black troops was essential and pivotal!
The Malmedy massacre is well known. The massacre of black troops by the SS at Wereth during the Bulge, far less so. There’s actually evidence that the War Department may have covered it up after it was discovered…
So glad someone's finally pointing this out instead of being hyper reactionary about them including ONE black soldier lol

Could rip into the German tanks real well... an they first arrived in Europe in September an 1st saw combat in October. An by December 25th, the Battle of the Bulge, their were several hundred M36's in Europe... and with the American an British Airforces an Artillery Superiority, M36 Slugger's had a higher survivability Rate then German tanks... the other tank Destroyers we an the British had were great too. Like the Sherman Firefly. But the M36 Slugger had a higher millimeter gun an better speed. Sherman Firefly jus had a 25 to 26 MPH speed... also the Battle of the Bulge is 1 of my Favorites. Really shows how truly powerful an well trained the American Military is. Yeah the germans were winning in the beginning of this fight but jus cause they caught us by surprise. After that, when we set up defenses an counter attacked an had support from the British an the others who were in the battle, we knocked the germans back real damn good. An of course our 2 excellent joint airforces when the weather cleared up was really crucial in screwing up the germans...
