Even in retirement, Brownie can still bring the house down because he's just that good. There will never be a Brownie McGhee ever again. EVER.

I had the great pleasure of visiting Brownie at that very house in Oakland in 1992. What a wonderful man, intelligent and wise and very generous with tow blues fans from Australia. great great memories and one of the really underated legends of the blues. Really should be up there with Muddy, Wolf and Robert Johnson. We just had our National Blues Day today in Australia and Brownie had such a great influence on blues music in this country.

I saw brownie and sonny in seattle 1979, bob marley 1979, muddie waters 15 times in chicago, those were the days great music everywhere. These blues guys were super talented despite a hard life

Me and my brother travelled with Brownee and Sonny around in the "70 in the Netherlands and Denmark and it as sometimes a hard road to travel for Sonny was blind and Brownee had polio in his younger days and could hardly walk sometimes and often they just won't talk alone with music making we got signatures on our hands and shoes so walk on means for us more than most folks thanks and it was so sad for famous men like them to see them play in gigs somewhere between programs we just shame

all the best blues artists talk about improvisation and playing the way they feel instead of structure, keys, chords, timing etc.

Gus hmmm I guess your mother never taught you, "if you can't say anything nice about somebody, keep your mouth shut and keep it to yourself". If she did, take this as reminder; if she didn't, take this s a lesson in kindness.
