Kgosi Mathibe was a king of the Bahwaduba ba Mathibe in Mathibestad (Zwartbooistad) Kgwadubeng in the Moretele region. They are neighbours to Bakgatlha ba Mosetlha in Makapanstad. Bahwaduba came to the Moretele-Hammanskraal region in the 1880s. Kgosi Mathibe was a beloved king of the Bahwaduba and was called Ma 1 1. Bahwaduba is a community that is originallly ndebele but now speaks setswana (Sekgatlha). They participate in the annual Diturupa carnival that happens in Makapanstad. They went to war with Bakgatla ba Mosetlha in 1900 at a place called Dibotswane over the woman Ntebeng who enlisted the Bahwaduba to help her. Bahwaduba have a connection with Bishop Lekganyane i think he was either born there or his parents come from there. The story of Kgosi Mathibe is that in 1997/1998 he went to the ZCC church at Moria Zion City and never came back. This caused violence in the community and divided it. Some accused others of witchcraft others blamed the church. So the song is very evocative because Kgosi Mathibe was beloved and a father to his community in Kgwadubeng. Robala ka Kgotso seapa letou tou wa e tlhoka wa tlhoka boroko wa nna leyone wa nna wa e tlhoke. Mohwaduba kwadiana nare. Kgomo!
