For many years in my child hood, both my brother and oldest sister attended school at NMU. Driving north from Chicago seeing the 730 was a delight for me. In my adulthood and my own travels, I have started circumnavigating Lake Michigan at least once a year. The 730 is still a delight and I am happy to hear she will be around for a long time to come.

I’m a retired truck driver and got to drive past the 730 twice a week on my run up there. Thanks for sharing your experience with us 🚂. Thanks From Wisconsin

The 730 is in fantastic condition. You can really see how the passionate community is towards the preservation and care of the locomotive. She looks like she could be steamed up and ran down the tracks.

It great seeing how much care they take in 730. Other towns could learn a thing or two on how to take care of their locomotives. Soo Line736, 2714, and 2718 could all use some love like this one.

2718 4-6-2 in GBW AT NRRM was vandalised around 2000(+-), because numerous pieces are Stolen; Bell; cab guages; whistle; front number plate with "2718xxxx" but last "8" was chiseled off.
But the worst damage was by the former last manager in 2000 who sandblasted 2718 and repainted it Black but they forgot to repaint the SOO LINE Dollar sign ($.L.) on both sides of the tender; yet also the numerals for "2-7-1-8" are Missing on the 2 sides of the cab.
But 2718 back in the 1970s was coupled with 5 different PULLMAN cars to represent the express trains from 1920s to 1958, and parked on the long eastern track. But later uncoupled. Until 1985 when the new circular display track was built, and this 1920s era express was parked next to the Fox River; and the wooden freight train was parked next to the parking lot; and I took many 35mm Kodak slides if the switching moves. But less than 2 years later when another new manager arrived the new replacement board replaced the numerous original Founders who had worked hard for 30 years to build up and promote the NRRM for Tourism in Green Bay. Sad 😔-ly; the new people decided to sell some engines and cars; but also SCRAPPED AND DESTROYED engines with the 1934 Plymouth Center cab from Missouri!! And the steam powered crane from Appletons paper mill; and the Puxkle car with 4 wood barrels; and several more. But those replacements were Fired 🔥 in 1986 because the last remaining Founders decided to be in charge again!! Thus they helped to establish a new fundraiser to provide money 💰 to fix the others mistakes. This led to the proposed, but never built "Roundhouse Section" connected to the new Reception Center; or with 8 other steamers like the small 29 0-4-0T named the Brillion Pioneer, up to BIG BOY 4-8-8-4 4017; Yet they were left outside for the next 21 Years!!!! But 2718 4-6-2 and the 5 PULLMAN CARS were uncoupled and Scattered Haphazardly!!!
Yet in the 2001 Switching the 2718 and some other steamers were switched in the Large Red McCormick Pavillion; but unfortunately the other pieces were pushed in randomly. But no organization nor themes. YET!!; IF the NRRM can switch just a few pieces the displays will be much more comprehensive!!
Plus ➕ 2718 is currently facing East toward the river. Yet it should be turned around to face West and give the appearance of the departure of the Passenger train going to another city.
Hopefully, the new Board and management of the NRRM can make these few simple changes!!; and also in time for 2026 that will be the 70th Anniversary of the NRRM!!!!!
PLUS ➕ IT WILL BE REALLY COOL 😎 TO GET SOO LINE 2718 4-6-2 PACIFIC TO RUN ON THE MAINLINE FOR THE EXTRA-SPECIAL 70TH ANNIVERSARY EXPRESS, !!-!.
    O.K.!!

@@LibertyFarmsNeoWilsonRailwayThank you!! I worked at the NRRM from 1984 to 1989, as the Official Tour Guide and full time paid employee like the train conductor to Groundskeeper; and the Original 1984 Hobo actor when we set the Hobo jungle camp set up next to the old wood 🪵 box 📦 car from the GBW 6158 Outside braces with end braces also typical of the 1930s Depression. Also we got our photos 📸 in the GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE NEWSPAPER 📰 on Saturday morning 🌄 edition!! Cool ✌ 😎 🆒️!!

Soo line 730 in Gladstone can be easily repaired and using the blueprints for its sister 2719 over in Duluth Minnesota. Since 2719 is now waiting repairs and 730 will make an Excellent 2nd Pacific locomotive 🚂 for the Upper Peninsula and Lake Superior region.
But most excursion trains have several but dissimilar steamers like in Duluth with 332 the 2-8-0 Consolidation but small driving wheels that only allow average speed of 30 mph; and both 2718 and 730 have large 75" Drivers for faster speed average of 60 M.P.H.!! And the 2 Pacific Classes were SPECIFICALLY Designed Exclusively for the Fast Passenger Express.
PLUS ➕ the original tracks of SOO LINE Pioneer rr the D.S.S.A. can be rebuilt for both Excursions and Commuters.
Plus re-Unite the major cities of the Peninsula at Duluth and Superior Wisconsin East to Marquette and Escanaba and Sault Sainte Marie; and provide long distance combination of Commuters and Tourists with the Classic 1920 era from 100 years ago with Elegant dining cars that serve Farm 🚜 fresh food of the Midwest; and sleeping cars for the return trips in evening. Because most Tourists are stuck in buses 🚌 for long times but eat at restaurants and sleep in hotels 🏨 😴 zzzzz.....
Happily this new excursion combines these events while traveling in motion!!
NOW!!!! LETS GET TO WORK!!!!! And fix both 730 and 2719 for these new and exciting Passenger train projects, and including both commuters and Excursions!!!!!
      O.K.😊👍❤!!!!!
