Very good blades. I have one of their small primitive folders. I went with a less expensive model, my days of buying expensive knives are pretty much over

Well I just received my Von Temsky Forest Bowie. It's pretty much perfect. I'm glad I got a good one this time. I wouldn't mind getting a custom sheath of some type for it though. Thanks for all the info and pictures. 🗡️👍🔪

Your knife looks great. I got one from a knife dealer a couple of years ago and the blue backing was messed up. It looked like someone held a torch in one spot too long and it made a blue round spot. Then they did it about 6 more times down the spine. No uniformity at all. I contacted a custom knife maker I've talked to and sent a picture to him. He told me he would send it back which I did. The knife was really well made and nice but the blue backing was a mess. Your Bowie looks very nice and I wouldn't mind having one like that. Thanks for the nice review and video. Congrats looks like you got a good one. 👍👍

the S shaped cross guard provides slightly more hand protection to your fingers and it also fits your hand better when compared to a straight 1 of the same length

Best leather and steel treatment for these is to fill the scabbard with olive oil and then keep it in a plastic bag.

Can you explain further please. Fill it with olive oil WITH THE KNIFE STILL INSIDE? Then how long in the bag? Thank you

I just picked up this bowie. Do you know why the non-makers mark side has those dots? I have six of them running down the spine all in a line. Looks kinda odd. Nice knife tho.

Wow, just found this vid. That Von Tempsky dwarfs the Ontario & Trailmaster. "I'm more about aesthetics than function when it comes to certain things." Lol [Knives & women.] 😂

I am curious as to how the company producing these knives has the right to use my family's name to advertise this knife?

It's based on a type of bowie knife designed by Gustavus von Tempsky. Who was a commander of the New Zealand Bushrangers during the New Zealand wars between the British and indigenous Maori

@@fergusporteous-gregory2557 Greetings and thank you for your kind reply.
I know very well the history of the creation of this knife and the history of Gustav, we "Tempski(y)", are a small family, but we make sure that the historical news remains 🙂🙂
I apologise for the ambiguous wording of my question, but I feel a little sad when I see some company using my name without permission and making money out of it.
As I am in regular contact with family who live in New Zealand and Hawaii, and none of these people have any information that anyone from the "Tempski(y)" family is receiving any remuneration for calling this knife by our family name....
I for one don't mind if someone sells a hunting knife invented by one of the "Tempskis", which can be explained by a special description, but in this case someone is also selling a family name, because looking at the name of this knife, this knife seems to be just an addition to the family name).
I'm looking for information on this, because it seems to me that something doesn't fit here 🙂
I'm not doing it to make money, I'm doing it out of a title of "My Traumatised Honour". 🙂☺
The knife itself is great, Gustav had good ideas and having a lot of experience from other previous trips, he knew well what kind of knife could be very helpful in New Zealand. ✌💝

Probably because it's their name too.

If it follows the original design of the knife and it's purpose, it's a great way to remember a big part of NZ history in a pratical way. Lots of NZ history never gets told in any real day to day ways.
