Oh that makes sense on his hinge having plastic on it. My fold 2 z had an absolutely insane amount of plastic on it. And infact most people dont realize there are (least on 1 2 and 3) double layers of screen protectors on the inside screen. If your crease infact starts to show you get a free repair or they peel off 1 layer, or both and add only 1 more it buys about another 2 years of durability from the crease showing and the first one on any samsung fold phone is free. I've been noticing on my Fold 4 that sometimes it doesn't open up flat and I have to force it to open flat. And my Fold didn't came with plastic on the frame, but I find myself forcing it open flat and I tough that it was only on my phone...
My fold 4 had film on the outsides. I dont think there was any on the hinge. I did not notice the stuff on the edges until nearly a week later as i put a case on it immediately after I got it. It was actually quite hard to see and when a piece of it came loose I initially thought it was from the case, not the phone.
It is because the plastic film down the spine, makes space between spine and frame. so pocket fabric can get into the hinge !! I have just removet it from my phone.
For those with this problem on the z fold 3 I saw a reddit post that says if you open the phone about 45 degrees and then slide a piece of folded paper in the little gaps of the hinge and slide it up and down the hinge a few times for both sides itll clear out the dust inside the hinge and fix the problem for most devices.
I had this problem yesterday with my zfold3 and i feel sooo sad .. i think some hair went into the hing since i put it in a place not clean and then this problem happened .. i have tested the thin paper technique and it doenst work . I also submerged the hinge into water and nothing improved . Please help
did the paper thing and pulled out a 3 inch long cloth like string. I'm going to assume it's something internal that just wore that was some sort of hinge protector.
That's bullshit because I bought a cover for the hinge. It's been stuck on since new and I have had zero issues until now. It's gotta be something with the hinge. Possibly a build up of dust and debris that gets between the hinge and front/back covers.

Under samsung care+ and this is a known fault. It's easier to type with it in a slight V shape but you didn't hear that from me... I was searching for s23 ultra as similar to my beloved note9 (she is smashed and dead pixels in corners but works still) but then I still love the extra functions and windows to adjust in my fold 4... the 6 is coming out July... I want to say no but I mayyyyy wait a tad and get another. Away have the front screen perfect. I bought it as its slimer for one handed texting. Genuine case with the strap is amazing. Front is a piddly bit of plastic... anyway. I'll be watching you more my friend!
yup. having to re-set up all your apps are a pain but adding to that..... also having half the passwords you have written down for some reason not work to log you in.... such a pain lol :D

Its the bristles brush thing or fabric thing that prevents anything that can enter inside is coming off, some experience hair coming off the hinge i did too and im a bald person. Samsung put there with just adhesive whats supposed to protect it is the one that is causing my z fold 3 to not open all the way. I contacted samsung about this and their always excuse is ur out of warranty get it fixed for $700 cad. Z FOLD USERS PREPARE ITS COMING EVENTUALLY. VERY DISAPPOINTED AT SAMSUNG my very first samsung too.
i just ordered my new zflip4 because i dropped it while it was closed earlier and then i couldnt open it all the way :) now half the screen wont work either
I've had the Fold, Fold 2, Fold 3 and now Fold 4. The hinge is a different design, it's no longer a geared design as it's thinner. It has "stops" unlike the previous hinge. I'm actually hating it. It's not a film issue. It's a design issue. Maybe not an issue but annoying af.

Tho I didn't have any plastic but the single big Grey & black wrap around entire Fold fat open , so i must have dif issue. I'm so pissed tho.. I've had this phone for 2 weeks; besides this I was in love with this phone . It's amazing especially for GamePass Ultimate

My zf4 had no exterior plastic at all, not even a screen protector which I didn't realize for a few days. I assumed it came with one like the zf3. Thankfully I had planned to replace it with a matte screen protector anyways so no harm. As far as your QoTD: Def the apps. Trying to remember all your passwords even though most should already be in samsung pass is a pita. After that? Probably smart switch. For me, I could not get wired smart switch to work AT ALL to transfer from s22u to zf4. I've never had that issue before! I had to use wireless smart switch and that just took all dang night to do. I did learn that you can create a full backup of your phone on your PC with smart switch and then just clone it onto the new phone, which I didn't know before and absolutely will do going forward. Having a master backup is super handy!
This fold 4 is nice but he makes so much porblem. My fold 4 is like new after 3 weeks cracy cruniching noises on the display now comes plastic outside from the hinge and not open full and it open very heavy. I dont understand why samsung dont replace directly this phone i use it for business and i can not give it 2 weeks for samsung. The should replace this expensive phone. Next time i buy apple there i have a right customer support. Samsung customer support is crap.
Was it a store display version ?? I have noticed some stores have display phones that feel weird the same one at another store feel & look better. Tho I'm coming from a Galaxy Note20 5G Ultra & it feels insanely better to hold from all the premium metal and victicous + glass . My Z Fold 4 doesn't completely open up. That's how they are made. That's normal. I saw the sample phones in Best Buy and they were the same. Yes, transfering over my information with smart switch had a glitch. I still could not transfer everything over. Maybe I'll try again in a day or two. Messages is a particular problem. It stops at 98 percent or so.
That's literally cause Apple makes iPhones user friendly so its easy for anyone tgat wants a smart phone to use. Thats why most carriers will recommend older people those if they never owned smart phones since its a closed apple eco so it's all optimized regardless of phone model. It's like comparing iMac to PC. Androids are PC with all it's customisation and varying OS setups and brands then iMac more straight to the point & simple but highly restricted
Why would we want the phone to lay flat? It's not like we live on a flat Earth or anything. If anything, it should have a slightly outward curve to "hug" the ball Earth better as it lays down. Same for all other flat surfaces: they should be made with a slight outward curve. What have the designers of flat laying objects been thinking all of these years? 🤷♂️ These flat objects are just gonna rock/wobble on the globe Earth, nah mean?
Have had to have my screen replaced twice over the not opening all the way. Ubreakifix broke it 2 out of the 3 repairs. Makes me not even want to use the phone. Samsung refuses to swap it or return my money even though these phones clearly have a defect

Dont do that. I did that and a thin fabric like a protective dust catcher was there and had to remove it completely after trying this.
Doesn't work and you can just push the dust around uneven. The phone is a disaster. They should extend all the warranties but yet they don't.
All the fabric for blocking the dust all came out

mine wasn't being totally flat, after seeing the vid, i took off the protective film that I've installed on the hinge, and now its perfectly flat

He probably put the Spigen glass screen protector that comes with an awful hinge protector. It left residue on my hinge

I used some Q Tips and peroxide, rubbed it along the hinge, and the seems along the hinge to help remove the dust, and it opened all the way again

I've dropped mine in the shower about 5 or 6 times with a case on. Today I have the it won't open all the way problem. I see no plastic left on it.

Do you know why the Z fold 4 will not connect with Sprint. Some people are getting theres connected . And some won't connect at all.
I found a plastic film on my fold 3 hinge but when I take it off it still is the same nothing changes

It is understandable to have debris inside from clothing but the question is how to clean it up without losing warranty.
My Zfold 4 phone is starting to do that after one year, and my friends zfold 3 did the same thing after about a year.

If your fold 4 unable to open fully 180 degree, remove the protector sticker from the hinge (over samsung branding)

A new iphone is far easier to set up. You're logged in to all your apps when they're transferred to the new phone.
