I have one too! You can use plastic mesh on any steep surface too, say if you wanna board slide an object lay the plastic mesh on the ground to build momentum!
as a snowboarder, I think that the posture of the people in the stikboard promo is exactly the opposite of what you want to stand like when snowboarding
Davidsjones dude, I’ve had my first Stikboard from back in the day, prob early 2000’s, and it does do everything it says it does. I have a newer model, and even my older one is still rideable, it was designed by a bunch of dudes here on the coast in NSW Aus I’ve ridden mine on grass (you just need a bigger cleaner hill with smoother grass, the grass you were using was too long causing the friction)... I’ve used it on snow, carves just fine, didn’t even use bindings. Been towed by a fourby along the beach in the water with a tow rope, and that’s where it’s really fun! Once again, I don’t have bindings on mine because it restricts you from any tricks you want to do, especially in the wash of the white water in shallow waters. Also, you can get matting for it, I’ve got a shit load of the stuff, it isn’t that expensive, but we made a mini fun ramp for it with less tranny so it wasn’t so vertical and easier to ride on the ramp, once again, worked fine, the dunes are most fun, you build up speed real quick, and having bindings would help in many situations, but before I moved out of my house in Byron, we had four dudes living there with a 8foot half pipe, four foot mini ramp, and then (as far as I still know) the Stikboard ramp is still there. Using the matting makes it super quick, and we’d just drop in on a sloped ramp, slide across the mat, kicker ramp, fun box, and landing mat. If you notice in the video you shared of others riding the grass, look at how much shorter and cleaner it is, so the shorter the grass, the less friction you’ll battle! Don’t give up on it yet bro, they are fun as hell! And like I said, our entire house was full of surf boards, snowboards, skateboards, and we bought two Stikboards right away as soon as we saw them, then bought four more, and we’ve even taken the matting down to a concrete snake run and loaded that up, and you can steer them once you have momentum, but carving the snake bowl was sikk! We totally dominated it those days, so we started going down at night so we didn’t stop all the kids from being able to use it, but my face is being towed along the beach because you can kick flip off the wash, carve, shred, all from attaching a ski rope to the tow bar and getting that initial surge of energy without face planting the water or shallows haha Keep on it bro, if you haven’t seeing as you live in NZ, take it to the snow with you and give it a lash there! It’s obviously not going to shred like your board does, but they’re still fun, and will be easier for you because you’ve attached bindings to it! Check out some vids of people using the mesh, you’ll see how much speed you’ll gain real quick, and as I mentioned, even on the matting on a concrete snake run, you can still steer it and bust some small air, carve, switch, just enjoy the fact theu designed an all purpose board, so with that in mind, being so versatile you’re not going to get peak performance on every surface, but they still work! Gotta get mine out now and blow the dust off it! Hope you’re having a good season? Didn’t make it over there this year bro, but I’ll bring mine over next season and try and hook up with you when I’m over there, we’ll get them out and ride one with bindings and the other without, see what we can achieve pros and cons of each? Cheers for the upload, good to see people still giving them a go!
Ps- I also come over there to speed fly (paragliding), and I’m a terrible skier, ‘life was meant to be ridden sideways’ in my opinion, skate, surf, snow, scooters are the new rollerblades! Even the best scooter rider doesn’t come close to the worst skater in my opinion! Next season I might actually give that a go, because with your trimmers on your speed wing, leaving them open allows you to gain altitude, closing them up or tightening them changes the angle of attack, and work speed, you sacrifice height, so that’s where you see speed flyers so close to the ground proximity flying, but being low and fast is fun as shit, but as you know as a snowboarder, with glare and unknown runs, look can be deceiving! May look like it’s still declining down the mountain, but can very quickly flatten out or drop on you, so when you’re doing like 80+kph only a few feet from the ground, you need some sort of snow craft, but in all the years I’ve been gliding, some young blood from NZ has inspired me to use that seeing as they’re so light and you only really need take off and landing, and the odd skim if really macking it! Cheers bro, you’ve just opened up my world haha
Thanks for keeping me sane while I hibernate in the north American winter! Any chance you'll shoot for any of the resorts on Mt Hood next season in the US? Or Timberline this summer?
I went to NZ in April and saw plenty of big grassy hills north of Whanganui. Also big sand dunes in Khafia. Reckon grass and terrain needs to be a bit smoother and it could work.
He is going to be so stoked when he finds out he can do that on snow
He mentions snowboarding in the video. Absolute dumbass comment man

Needs to be steeper, slightly wet and flatter
Chase null he probably meant more uniform terrain
That's what she said
Steeper, flatter, and covered in snow.
And with a layer of wax on the board
smoother, but hey bumps will just make you better if you learn how to get over them.

when i was little in summer we used to 'snowboard' down hills on pieces of cardboard, surprisingly works great.
6:40 You’re welcome
Jack Lawford Thanks!

Why not use wax? On the stikboard couldn't hurt.
Those sweet 30 seconds of content.

Im pretty shure it has to be dampd/wet to be ridable...
I can hear the vegans complaining.
Alex Knapp vegans complain about fucking everything lmao sad life for them i guess 😂
Lol
Hey my last name is Knapp
but why
Vegans care about reducing unnecessary harm, exploitation, and death to sentient beings as much as reasonably possible. Grass boarding is irrelevant

That echo tho 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 grass grass grass grass...
Hey just wanted to let u know that this vid was a BANGER!
And can u please make some skating vids?
I went to NZ in April and saw plenty of big grassy hills north of Whanganui. Also big sand dunes in Khafia. Reckon grass and terrain needs to be a bit smoother and it could work.
After rain is the best moment to use it
I used to "snowboard" on a hill covered in deep leaves in the forest with vegetable oil on the bottom of a skateboard deck.
Obviously you need a smooth grass hill. Preferably with dew. Just like a snowboard you need some speed for control and turning.
Great vid mate. I look at the hills around Chiang Mai , thailand and wish I could snowboard them all
Dude your shit cracks me up its gold, keep it up!!
Looks like a great way to get grass stains!
The grass should be wet and more smoother :)
