  • Legend of Legaia「レガイア伝説」is a JRPG developed by Prokion and Contrail and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the Sony PlaySation between 1998 and 2000 across all regions.
The world of Legaia is covered in a deep mist that penetrates every inch of the planet. Any who wears an accessory, known as a Seru, into the fog, become a mindless monster. The last bastions of humanity huddle within their settlements, each with ingenious mechanisms that prevent the mist from entering their domiciles. One such is the walled village of Rim Elm. For years the towering wall have kept out the mist and its monsters, but on the eve of the coming of age of our protagonist, Vahn, a large monster attacks, destroying part of the wall, allowing misfortune to befall the village.
As the remnants of the village huddle around a withered tree in a small courtyard, they pray fervently for salvation. Their prayers are answered in the form of a Ra-Seru, a creature impervious to the influence of the mist, who attaches itself to Vahn. Together the two set out in order to find a way to rid the world of the mist, and gather companions along the way.
Is the game worth playing today? Check out my review, to find out.

This is my favorite standard JRPG of all time. Final Fantasy is highly considered the front runner of this genre but this game, its music, atmosphere the fun combat system, not to mention it taking (summons, gfs, espers whatever you want to call them) to a whole new level and its so fun.

Don't forget, one of the few RPGs where none of your characters are useless.

Legend of Legaia was the second videogame I ever played. I think it's my childhood nostalgia game and the reason I love the genre.

As a kid, I found the book to this game at a Hollywood video. I wanted to get the book so badly, but considering I was still 14-15 at the time, only working for my dad was my own income, but that was few and far between, meaning, there's a good chance I wouldn't get to work.

That was a pretty good and thorough review, I remember recommending that game to you ! Its crazy I never thought of the first game as a corridor game before getting to the second game (which is wayyy more akin to that since lots of the backtracking you can do won't do much). I'll admit ... I've put down the game at sol tower too, the mini games were impressive in variety but ultimately their innacessibility made it so I ignored them too. I did find a way to level up characters and their skills/magic, there are lots of free hp/mp moments in the game that give you a place to use those magics and one shot every encounters you see (magic get so powerful it does that AND trains itself ) so you can grind out characters . That was necessary for me for a bit few places because the bosses are hard, only other jrpg that kicked my ass so much was legend of dragoon on the same console, both have the quality to be able to stop you in your track playing it from filtering wall-like moments. Its a shame I got the retail ps1 version and I tried to play it so much on the psp eboot I had of it that I ended up finding out my end-state 2022 custom firmware just crashes on the last portion of the game (octam), I'll have to put it in the ps2 and try to continue the save I got on my ps1 card sometimes soon ! This actually made me appreciate how complex of a game it was for how simple it really gets. One of the most impressive aspect is its graphic competency, mostly the 3d environment with the models (somewhat more competent than ff7's and I dare say the 3d environment is well done). Lots of in engine cutscenes and moments that are well done too. The second game was not even set in the same world yet I felt its ps2 presence was good enough, the combats were REALLY fun in that one though. Shame it was always too niche to warrant a third game V_V

It's a fun and unique game that's well worth revisiting if you can find it.

I just beat it today for the first time. I would've beat it as a teen if I didn't have a glitch in Conkram. But I got the Emulator Duck Station and played it through no problem. It's worth the replay

Bought this brand new way back then. Which in turn made me buy Legend of Dragoon the next year. Always loved this game. If you glitch the game during the tutorial fight you can actually kill the monk. Keep up the good work.

The first game in the series was amazing, but unfortunately, the second one didn't live up to expectations. I've heard rumors that Sony might be shutting down their gaming division due to disagreements between the American and Japanese branches, as well as the high cost of producing their latest games. These games are so expensive that they are going over budget and not generating enough revenue. It's a real shame because Sony has produced some of the best games for their consoles over the years, such as the legendary Legend of Legaia. I recently enjoyed Sand Land, a manga that has been adapted into an anime movie and is getting its own upcoming game and anime series next year. In the manga, there's a scene where the characters stumble upon a PS6 with a game called Dragon Quest 13. It would be a great loss if Sony were to abandon the gaming market, especially with the recent news that the CMA is suing them for a whopping 7.9 billion dollars. However, if Sony does sell off its old intellectual properties, perhaps a talented game developer will be able to breathe new life into the Legend of Legaia franchise.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
The move went as smoothly as moving an entire continent can. A few broken things here and there, but overall not a bad experience.

The only thing I knew about this game before watching this is that it shares a song with Alundra. Now I hear people are praying to a tree?

    • @Venoix
      @Venoix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well, faith does play a role in many JRPGs, so praying to a tree isn't really that different from contemporaries.

Hello first time here would it be okay to ask how you played the game or if it’s just the ps1 game?

You can play it on PC with a PS1 Emulator and downloading the ROM for it. For the Emulator I suggest Duck Station
