Hi Dave. The 4MPts memory doesnt look like it would be an issue if you can trigger on things easier that are caught faster due to the update rate. I heard that you might be able to control this via a tablet over LAN.(i.e using an iPad). can you confirm? It does seem like the 4000X is a fair improvement on functionality, more so if you consider the limited differences between the current 7000-series to the 3000X series.
Dave's no stranger to breaking things ;) And judging from his comments to other people, Agilent makes it worth his while to show off their equipment. Considering that, I don't think he's concerned about treating it gently.
odd I really like the 4000 but my quote was around 12,000. US for a 200MHZ 4ch with options. maybe I should look for a another company. going by that price sheet what I was quoted just doesn't jive.
+Douglas Brown Where are you at? I just got a quote for (probably) the same model for ~$5,500 a few weeks ago. It seems like they're really dropping off the list price for these now.
I'm in the U.S. Quote was from last Nov. H.V. Differential Probe $1371.00 MSO 4024A 200Mhz 4+16 ch scope $9838.00 including Software Bundle. $11,209.00 maybe not so bad for what you get. But still kinda high. Quotes from TESSCO. The 4ch DSO setup was $2,800.00 Less then the MSO. If I do one day decide to make the jump I will go with the 4ch DSO
I don't know, throwing that scope, I couldn't afford one of them ever, give it to me instead lol. Your desk looks harder to clean up than a shattered scope lol ;o). Great review, time to watch the teardown ;o)
Wow ... I just found you on TH-cam .... you are hilarious!!! I think you are making Agilent mad ... :-) I am becoming a subscriber for sure! Thanks for the info!
Hey Dave, can you recommend me a realy cheap Oscilloscope for under 50€/70$? I can't afford a good one right now. For low Frequency stuff like under 5Mhz? o.O
>95% thumbs up means many people like them. You don't have to like them, that's ok. You don't have to watch them. The title makes it easy for you to skip these videos. You really think Agilent "approved" me saying this scope is poor value for money and essentially a rip-off?
Indeed people like your videos, me included! My opinion is just that: a personal opinion. Of course Agilent didn't "approve" anything, I was exaggerating a bit, just to point out my concern about big companies sending around their gears to be reviewed by famous bloggers.
WAY too expensive for only 200mhz... the Chinese are now dominating the market in every respect except the ultra high end... Optioned up you’relooking at what $15,000.00 for a 200mhz oscilloscope that’s competing with scopes of basically similar performance going for under $1000.00... It’s a nice scope but should be $2,000 to $3,000 fully outfitted with today’s manufacturing technology...
Sorry Dave, I follow you since your very first videos, but I really don't like these boring Agilent commercials. I really like your hacking / design / tutorial / mailbag / rant / teardown / whatever videos, so I'll keep following, but you should put a big "Agilent approved" disclaimer/warning sign on this one. Just my opinion though.
This scope is just a very very bad value in comparison to the 3000 series. And the cheapest really usable model (4ch + MSO) is 10 grand. You gotta be kidding me.
A big thank you from Korea!
Love your reviews and teardowns.
Keep up the great work!
Yes, this one was heavily edited. It was originally 55min, and I thought that was too long, so cut out a lot of fluff.
Perhaps there is a limitation on what size window the Megazoom 4 ASIC can map too?
Dave, I LOVE these reviews on test equipment
Two eevblogs in one day!? This is AWESOME!

I'm still waiting for the new firmware.
It's never too long when it comes to your videos buddy ;o)
"If you're a knob man, you can just play around with your knobs."
OMG the size of that screen !!! can I also see HD movies ? hahaha
no. it has a VERY low resolution.

We get them for free in Australia, it's a perk of living in such a cool country :->

Thank you Dave, you're priceless!
the 3000X scopes are the ones we have in our signals labs at UTS, the FFT on them is shit but everything else is great.

When I watch reviews of high-end scopes I look at my crusty rigol dso1052E and well... bummer ;)
Hey Dave, can you recommend me a realy cheap Oscilloscope for under 50€/70$? I can't afford a good one right now. For low Frequency stuff like under 5Mhz? o.O
Those 4000X oscilloscopes run from about $5,600 to $22,000 depending on the features. The one he is reviewing is the $10,000 model :O
If you already have a 3000X, no point getting this, unless you are swimming in money! Yes, they should have just called it the 3000+ or something.
Apparently Rigol has a 1.5GHz passive probe ... at 40$

Dave: "Touch screeeeen......" *Frowns*
What were they thinking? Agilent come on...
I really did throw it, exactly as you see it.
MORE! YOU WANT MORE!
David Jones, David Jones, Never before has an aus wanted more...
/Oliver music
they send them to him for the reviews I thing he said at one time he has to send them back
No one has hacked the 2000X or 3000X yet that I am aware of.
I agree with you...should have been upgraded for the price! Tho it is better than what is out their for tek or the others...it is a let down...
Wow nice. Might get one in 10-15 years when they come down in price lol.
Looking for one at the moment 7 k , Inflation is a bitch
Did you actually brick it?
Well played. I wanted to see the "mess"
I tossed it like a brick. Roughly the same flight characteristics.
I think touch screens are good. Only downside is that you will have to clean them.
if the out of box firmware is too buggy to review you should let them know in your own 'unique' fashion.
Somewhat. I'm pretty sure the answer is "no" but that noise made my stomach churn.
If you decide to get rid of some i'd love a present for Christmas :)
manufactured in malaysia i believe...
Look for an old analog scope on eBay.
I'm dissapointed. Why? Because I'm still waiting for Rigol 2000 review. You showed it, so we know you have it. Where is the review!?
17:23 just think about that statement "Don't worry its not a windows scope, I works like a real scope".....there is some truth in it ;)
Where do you get all this money for all this osilloscopes? :P

University of Dave
Except the base model's gonna cost ten grand.
"This is not a Windows scope, it works like a REAL scope" hahahaha!
I think
Nerdgasm!
This scope cost $9800.
It's mad that Keysight still sell this exact same scope 10 years later. Zero innovation, same crazy high price. 800x600 resolution in 2023! 🤣
