I’m 76. I’m late-very late-to woodworking and have become smitten with it while recovering from a triple bypass in June. So I got to watching TH-cam clips. Then I got to doing some projects. And so I’ve watched a helluva lot of clips! And I have to compliment you on your excellent channel. ( I had to break for dinner before I had completed my comments….) Your intro is VERY professional and your narration pace and voice is like something one might hear on PBS. So kudos to you and your daughter. Also noticed your attention to every detail. I did not see bench dogs for instance , but instead ACTUAL dogs. Great touch. Best regards from north of the border……..
@@tmdwu3110, I’m taking Mounjaro, and working out in the gym three days a week with very light weights. And we have a nutritionist, who has helped us plan meals that we follow. So all of the above! Haha. My wife has also lost 60 pounds in the same time frame.
@@KingsFineWoodworkingThat’s awesome man! Proud of you all! I thought when I started watching you looked like you lost weight. I’m going through the same journey. Down over 130 from my heaviest, about another 60 to go. Been watching your videos for years and love how you do things, learned a lot from you.
Neat. Simple. Sturdy. A stand built for work, not for show. I can see building one for a friend of mine new to woodworking. She has tools...everywhere. Need the chop saw? Gotta find it first, excavate it, set it up (usually on some sketchy Ikea table she found on the side of the road for free) and pray it holds long enough to make the cuts you need. 😂 I can see building it to the HFT sliding miter saw she doesn't know I'm going to donate to her. Big step up from her ancient yellow/black chop saw. She'll get so much more use from both (the new table and the slightly used saw). Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the Allred Woodworks shout out James! As always another fantastic build. You could read a phone book and make it interesting! :-) Tell the girls I said hi!
Nicely done and a handy project. I would have put the piano hinges on the side rather than the top of your work surface. If you didn't bolt the rails in you could also easily change the miter saw out with a planer to get multi-use out of the rolling stand. The planer would fit in the bottom of the cabinet. I have a similar build cabinet with the saw and planer each mounted on a base that fits on the top and can easily be changed out.
@@KingsFineWoodworking I made it and it works great. Your video was so thorough and well done. I used four 3 inch butt hinges. I had some pop up casters I used on the side, had to shorten the table a little bit. No Formica, but otherwise just copied your design. Thanks very much.
There’s been a trend over the last few years towards just sliding stop blocks with no fence rather than fences. I can see the benefit to both. And I’m curious if you contemplated going with a no-fence vs fence system. And if so, why the fence. TIA.
@@SweetSillyFun, hi. If you deal with a lot of curved or warped wood, fences can be a problem. But I don’t. So I prefer to have a long fence. Longer fences also make precision cross-cutting much more accurate. I’ve used both. And I definitely prefer a long fence.
Nice addition to your miter box stand. What is the brand on your miter box saw and on your table saw, what is the brand on the dust extraction saw blade safety guard?
The miter Saw is a metal cutting saw from Evolution. And the table saw is a Sawstop. The dust collection setup on it is the deluxe one, also from Sawstop.
I have to ask James… that cooler, did you forget some stuff from Memorial Day and it’s rotten now? Because it doesn’t look bad on the outside… and I might have done the same thing

Thanks James & your girls for the full length video .Great job, keep them coming 👍
Looking good James. Hope the weight loss is helping you stay well and making life more glorious.
It’s definitely helping. I’m about 106 pounds down from 10 months ago.
Thanks for noticing!

Great video and project, love to see how your workshop is full-on family time, too. 👍

But more girls on tools today. Idea is fantastic
Fantastic work, James! 😃
It looks fantastic! And super sturdy!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too!
The drain plug just fell out of it after a few years, so it leaks as the ice melts. We just got a new one last month.
Nice to see a build video again! Great project, thanks James.
Thank you. Our 3D cutting board comes out next.
Great looking build and so nice to see the family working together!

Why didn't you just make the drawer the whole width of the cabinet?

That adhesive definitely doesn’t look like weldwood…
