- We've been Bubble Tea FIENDS lately. We freaking love this stuff! So, the whole Eatyourkimchi Crew today is going for Gong Cha Bubble Tea. It's a pretty popular franchise here in Korea (I'm pretty sure it's from Taiwan) and it makes the best Bubble Tea we've ever tried, so that's what we're talking about today. If you've had Bubble Tea before this won't be new to you, but at least it'll make you crave it again. For people that are new to Bubble Tea and have no idea what it is: prepare for a whole new world. Don't you dare close your eyes. A new fantastic point of view. No one to tell us no. Or where to go.
Oh yeah we write more about it in our blog post, with instructions on how to order and other useful information. Check it out!

Fast forward to 2020: they have Gong Cha in the US, and it’s delicious! Anyone else re-watching old Simon and Martina videos?
Holy crap a recent comment!!
Its also in Canada too now!
That's awesome. I just looked it up and there's one like 30 minutes away from me. I might have to go there some time.
ABrokeCollegeStudent I hope you do 😀
I do and I found Vancouver, BC has it! I am going to try it as soon as possible
I'm here in 2019 STILL laughing at Simon's face when he sips his bubble tea :') xx
Is it just me or do anyone else miss these types of videos, like the ones with Leigh and Suzy.
Anna P. I guess its because they aren't employed full time? It was mentioned in one of their videos.
I do but I think more are coming.
i miss them still in 2017 :'((
2020, I wonder what happened to them
SooZee is just WOW, so beautiful!
I actually work in Gong Cha in Singapore hahaha. Our menu is quite different though. For one, we don't have any ice blended drinks or smoothies. We also have a wider selection of toppings. Also, for those who're curious, the milk cream for the House Special teas are actually made fresh every morning. No, it's not cheese! It's a mixture of dairy products, including fresh milk, whipping cream, butter and a magic powder (I have no idea what it is). It's actually really really fattening once you know what goes inside haha. And you can actually ask for less/no ice in Singapore as well, even though we don't include it in the menu. ^^ Gong Cha is so popular in Korea sometimes I wonder how it would feel to work there since Koi is more popular in Singapore haha!
Gong Cha is in Australia now! :D
Not in Perth :(
Which city?

+Ami Scherson I see it says jack off
OMAIGAWD YES!!!!!!! XDD
Lol that's long as fuck, but I like it
6 years later and still click on this everytime it shows up in my feed. You almost convince me I like boba again, almost.
We have actually had bubble tea in the UK for over 10 years. Victory for us.
Though actually I have never seen anyone drink it.
really i live in california united states and i see soooo many people drink it and it is not as complicate as the one in korea because you dont have to choose the sweetness and the amount of ice
so when i order my drink i usually choose jasmine milk tea with tapioca and lychee jelly and i usually go to quickly or sweet heart or Chatime or Mr. Green bobble
yonglan liang \That interesting because I live in California too, but we have a lot of places where we have the option to choose all that. Like we have a place called Tea Pumps (Im not sure if you can have milk in it, tho) you can choose the type of tea, flavors (as many flavors in a cup as you want), amount of ice, sweetness, and type of jellies (or you op for what people here call the popping boba which is a flavor of your choice inside this magical little ball thing, so when you bite into it the outter skin breaks and releases the juices :3).
i live in the bay area so idk
it might be different
yonglan liang Oh well I live in the same place. So that makes it even weirder.
lol
This was my first Simon&Martina video and im still here! :D Thanks for taking me along your journey!
I used to work at a Taiwanese boba shop and Wintermelon drink is very expensive item in the menu because it has to be imported from Taiwan. I really enjoy it but it tends to be quite sweet so I would recommend less sweet. Please don't be discourage from trying this drink as it's very delicious !
Btw Boba is bubble tea basically. We just call it boba in California lol
Wintermelon from gong cha is actually my favorite sweet drink! But you've got to ask them for a lower % of sugar (and I love the white pearls)
There are 64 outlets in Singapore and I swear the Lemon Roasted Melon Tea is life
wintermelon with black pearl is a huge hiit here in the philippines
What?! Winter melon is the best! But not with jelly! Usually it's best with black pearls or boba! So yeah!😂😂😂👍👍👍
+Marcus Gabriel Goguanco IMO it taste best with jelly AND pearls.
IKR!!!
Gong Cha's wintermelon sucks ass. One of the worst wintermelon milk tea I've had. So I understand why they don't like it.
wintermelon without the milk and without any toppings is best for me, never like that white jelly tho
or with aiyu jelly omg!!!!
I was cracking up at Simon's Eddie Murphy impression! Too funny!!
Simon without beard is giving me gay best friend vibes haha
Whenever I am having an off day, I watch your old videos. They just give me a happy, nostalgic feeling idk. Also, I am 20 years old and NEVER had bubble tea before. I have no idea where to get it where I live. I once googled and found out there was a bubble tea store at the mall an hour and a half away so I drove all the way there and it turned out it closed down BUT THE WEBSITE WASNT UPDATED )):
You can actually make it at home! Look up Bubble tea on Amazon and then look up Tapioca balls. Try watermelon first, you can't go wrong with that one. lol If I'm correct its just milk, then the bubble tea comes in a pouch then they blend it together, then after you drop in the tapioca balls into the cup (dont blend that though. lol 😜) and also buy bubble tea traws (if they sell that? o.O idek haha) try to get one thats rewashable and reusable like a hard plastic one, so all you have too do is wash and reuse. Also if you don't have Amazon, check eBay. If anything also just Google -simple ways to make bubble tea at home- and if they dont talk about about tapioca balls.. just buy them anyway xP Not Jelly balls like in this vid cus ew. lol ..UNLESS... its peanut butter flavored... omg..... MIND... BLOWN...
if there is a big asian market around you they migut have it! its where i get mine!
wow, so different coming back to this now that I work in a bubble tea shop. when I first watched this it was more of an abstract concept, but now I drink it alllll the time.
You guys need to do this again
I'm glad i live in Asia, cause we have bubble tea shops everywhere. lol and now i'm craving for one! :s
OMG LOL 4:40!!!! I absolutely love Simon's face!!! I can't stop laughing!!!! XD poor guy...
When that girl dropped her phone I literally almost pooped my heart out.
Coming from NYC, Flushing is the best to get bubble-tea - more like almost any street corner. There is a district called Korea-town in mid-town Manhattan, next to the Empire State building.
Chatime; they so far have the best bubble-tea blends and they don't taste too intense unlike some other bubble-tea bars. Kung Fu Tea is also good but their secret weapon is - Lactaid milk.
YESSS GONG CHA BUBBLE TEA IS THE BEST!!
Btw you can find Chatime in NYC Chinatown. well bubble tea is not invented by the korean so it more easier to find bubble tea stores near Chinatowns including Flushing which is becoming more like Chinatown. I grew up on bubble tea lol
YES I AGREE I DRINK BUBBLE TEA IN FLUSHING ALL DA TIME
***** There is a random tea-shop every now and then.
I think I watched Simons reaction 8 times....only to laugh so hard I felt I was gonna pass out. I'm gonna watch it again. Lmao
We have Gong Cha in the Flushing, Queens area of NYC :) The lemon ai-yu with white pearls and 50% sugar is really good~
There's also Quickly's (which got trounced by Chatime), Chatime (good and cheaper than the others), and Kung Fu Tea (pretty good, pretty expensive) among others.
There are 3 in California, 2 of which in San Jose...
Athalia Bay Area!!! The only one I know is the one in Fremont :p
Athalia Let's just remember that this was filmed on the year 2013...
One in the shopping center I work at in Saratoga!
Yes i have been to both. also us Californians are very lucky because theres only 14 shops in the USA. i hope this information was right.
Athalia I finally found one in NY. So happy
Bubble tea is really really popular among teens in singapore. There are like many different shops of bubble tea at about everywhere!! I loveeee it alot!! Esp with tapioca pearls in it! The white jelly is probably nata de coco which is coconut jelly!
In Singapore, the ones that are really common are Sweet Talk, KOI Café and Gong Cha. They are really popular especially KOI but they are kind of expensive and since they are really popular amongst teenagers, we're all broke because it's so good! -fails at controlling weeping-
I tried the gong cha branch in NYC and the line was just as long! It's really good!!
Im heading over to NY in 3 weeks and going to gong cha is on my list :3
+Nidia Valle there is no line outside gongcha at the Sydney branch stores
Omg you guys are hilarious! Simons facial expressions had me dying laughing
In Hong Kong I saw a poster saying "Drinking Bubble Tea through a straw, is for people who like sucking balls".
Since then, I have always sipped.
if you guys come to singapore, again, try koi.same like gong cha but more variety. They have ovaltine!!!!!
Yep koi is so good
I'm working in GongCha Philippines and wintermelon milktea is one of our best seller and the sinkers that you had is called aloe jelly^_^ you should have tried the Gong Cha Milk Wintermelon Tea..and I was a bit shock cause Gong Cha Wintermelon is natural sweet so there's no % in sugar and the green powder that you saw on the to of the cream is matcha powder(greentea powder)..I'm Happy and Proud cause you guys pick Gong Cha^_^Thank you...
I've been watching FAPFAPs for, like, hours and now I'm dying for ramen and boba and unhealthy Asian snacks.
I just wanna hop on a plane to Seoul like ASAP!!!! Too bad I'm dirt broke!
lol
yet u can afford what u are using a electricity
Alfi Haziq a plane ticket to Seoul several times more expensive than a monthly electric bill, so what exactly are you talking about?
CzarJuliusIII
u are said u are dirt broke
I've been drinking Bubble Tea since I was 15... that was in Melbourne.
I'm now 32 and still loving it!
I've seen Gong Cha in Adelaide but haven't tried it yet... one day I will try these non-traditional ones. Someday.....
they finally opened a location in toronto. and i walked in and they were playing 21st century girl and my day was made.
winter melon is like, the goddess of all the goddessess-ess of all milk tea - why doe
THIS IS THE VIDEO THAT LET ME DISCOVER SIMON AND MARTINA LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! SO THANKFUL
omg now i totally feel like getting bubble teeeaaaaa! :/ sadly, it's 3AM, so i don't think that's happening lol
I always get green tea flavor!!! i love everything green tea xD
We have Gong cha here in our country, but boy its as expensive and luxurious as starbucks == lucky enough we have other cafes that sells bubble teas and stuff, and my god winter melon is the best! dnt know why you hate it though
Simon's song and dance in the beginning was so cute!
Soo Zee is so gorgeous my goodness :o
Here in California we call Bubble Tea just boba... I personally love the Milk Tea, Thai Tea, and Tiger Tea which is a combination of the Thai and Milk Tea it's the bomb or I also love the blended ice drinks. What you guys need to really try is snow ice (or shaved snow), it is SO GOOD!
Bunnii they're in Seoul, I'm sure there's plenty of shaved ice where they are.
Bunnii lol wtf it's called shave ice not shave snow?
signature green tea with pearl is life man
There's many GongCha outlets in Singapore ^^
We have Gongcha in Fremont, CA! It's my favorite place!
oh my god. I heard about your channel before but I never really care about it. There are thousand of korean review channels out there.
And then one beautiful day, the keyword "korean skin care" bring me to you guys, and now I'm stuck here, lmao till 1am in the morning. Furthermore, your information is really informative, big thump up
MY FAVOURITE IS WINTER MELON LIKE FUCK YEAH THE SWEETNESS OF THE TEA AND THE SALTINESS OF THE CHEESE ON TOP LIKE FUCK YEAAH
Gong Cha Earl Grey Milk Tea is good too!
Totally agree :)
OMG I died from laughter when Simon took a sip of his tea. His face!!! Lmaooooooooo!!! I can't breathe! xD
Gong Cha is the bestttt!!! Thankfully they have it in NYC
There are some in Cali but Idont know about NYC
Tiffasaur Nguyen there are several locations in NYC, I usually go to 75 W 38th Street close to Bryant Park
I used to go there all the time
I like winter melon T-T
This is the video that started my 6 year obsession with GongCha. And helped me look like a total pro when ordering it. 😍
Now there's two in nyc!!!
+myungsoo kim Really? Can't wait to try it.
+myungsoo kim RIGHT? I didn't think it would be good because it was such a small shop (the one right in K-town) and when I tried it I fell in love soooooo hard! Definitely the best bubble tea place I've tried yet, and I wish I had watched this video sooner so I'd have known... so many trips to Manhattan without stopping there!
+myungsoo kim there's actually more than 2 in NYC
2 what? bubble tea places? There everywhere from what I've seen.
+Neal Caraballo There's only 4 Gong Cha in NYC, and I'm sure OP was referring to those and not any "bubble tea places".
If SooZee turned into an idol, I would be her fan. She's so precious! I love asian people.
Why thank you
VIVIAN NGUYEN waitt, are u SooZee? hehehe... n.n sorry the english I speak spanish
No I'm not soozee but I'm Asian so I felt happy
Oh well :D that's what I really feel. Ya' cool people
Ugh yes SooZee is so pretty (‾u‾)
this video makes me so happy bc seeing the eyk crew together provides such a warm happy feeling :-)
The white jelly in Singapore actually taste quite good! :D It's a popular choice with Winter Melon Tea here. :D
That's what I'm saying!!! Wintermelon milk tea with white jelly is my favorite!!
Does anyone else think Soozee is beautiful :D
I live in California. My favorite bubble tea here is Honey Boba. Their boba soaks in a honey sauce instead of sugar sauce. And they have a TON of flavors. They also let you customize your sweetness level!!
it is in America lol I have like 4 in San Jose
how old are those because they made this 3 years ago so it could be it wasn't around then? I kinda noticed that bubble tea has been getting more popular the last 5 is years.
Can you order there without speaking Korean?
I would like to go there when I'm on holiday in South Korea but can't speak Korean, will I have to "sign" what I want to order or will they understand a bit of English?
Thank you and I love your videos!! ♥♥♥
yes, since our menu is also in english
Thank you!! ♥♥♥
A gong cha opened in NYC earlier this year and I never tried it, I finally did a few days ago and it is by far the best I've had yet.
Theres a gongcha in Toronto now ^.^
i actually work there :)
Really why not in Vancouver cause I live in Vancouver
+Amy D theres been so many in sydney

one of the waitresses went from speaking korean to spanish!
+Amy D there is? :o
+SpaceMonkiiBob yeah
gong cha is in CA now :D
1:01 The people in the back are looking at him like he's crazy loll
actually, we also have Gong Cha here in Australia
Australia has everything as far as korean products go lol
There is a Gong Cha in the Bay Area of California, USA.
Now there is, but I don't know if it was there when this video was made.
Gongcha is actually from taiwan. The bubble tea craze started in taiwan as well! So they do have a lot of bubble tea shops. Like in singapore, there's Koi as well. I wonder if they have it in korea too...
isn't bubble tea just like boba??
It's the same thing, just a different name.
oh...
I am addicted, sadly only the big cities up here in Sweden have it :/ oh well, yearly visits to USA with my hubby...boba *drool*
***** so basically it's boba and the boba you said that pops easily is just a different type of boba
You can find Gong Cha in Australia o/
yeah go to the gongcha websites, they have gong cha in a lot of places in australia
Yep heaaaaaaps in my area. Like almost right next to eachother
The house special cream green tea is one of my favorite. I usually drink the tea together with the cream from the cup edge. Then, I stir the remaining cream into the tea.
Once i got Almond milk tea and for me it was really gross because it was spicy not like hot spicy but it had a spicy cinnamon toothpaste taste?? LOL then i had mango boba which was delicious
Wait! You can actually get cinnamon toothpaste?
Yeah, there is such thing as cinnamon toothpaste :D Cinnamon is like the second used after mint. I personally don't like the cinnamon toothpaste because it is spicy.
I'm not a fan of cinnamon.
Except wintermelon tea is so good! You can find it everywhere in Taiwan! If it tastes too sweet, then get less or no sugar, it's not a big deal. The white boba is just made from a different material and I do like it. The green tea milk foam is also one of my favorites from Gong Cha, and it is most definitely not "gross". It's kind of really offensive to hear things like "that is also gross" and "why would anyone like this" when it is actually really good stuff that lots of people enjoy. I respect a difference of opinion but please don't make it seem like people who enjoy these are bad. It's an acquired taste, like all food, and it's a huge part of my culture that I really wish people would not put down, because now, people who watched this video and have never tried these drinks are going to go into places like Gong Cha with a preconceived bias that wintermelon tea and the herbal jelly and white boba tastes bad. I'm extremely disappointed because I really enjoy and laugh along with most of the eatyourkimchi videos, but this one just hurts me. It's hard not to take it personally when a huge part of your childhood is being made fun of and put down.
This.
Honestly with stuff like this a lot of the flavours/textures are acquired tastes or developed for a specific region/palate... Stuff like herbal jelly or grass jelly may seem odd to you when you're not accustomed to it, but you should always keep in mind that there are probably MILLIONS of people who enjoy the flavour and a culture that has enjoyed it for many years. To say it 'is just gross' turns people off trying something new, and is kind of insulting to the people who do like it.
So what if it isn't for you? Yes, it's your opinion but stating it like that as if you know better, as if you're teaching people what to pick/what not to pick because you *clearly* know what's 'good' is not very nice or respectful.
It's like saying 'earl grey tea is gross'. Or 'black coffee is gross, don't ever order black coffee. Coffee should always be super milky and sweet' - just because you don't prefer something a certain way.
I have friends who have really odd bubble tea preferences (200% sugar, honestly), and others who have similarly odd coffee orders, but that's their preference, and I would never advise someone else 'oh don't get what she's having - it's disgusting', 'cause just that's kinda rude, immature and insensitive. :/
They actually mentioned in the video that that was only their opinion.
CALM DOWN
Chloe Allen sheesh if you actually read my comment you would see that I acknowledged the fact that it was an opinion. Please pay attention before telling people off. Also, just because it is an opinion doesn't mean that it's not offensive. Biases and prejudices are opinions too. It might be someone's opinion that interracial marriage is bad. It might be someone's opinion that women shouldn't go to school. I could go on forever about this but you get the point. There are auch things as bad opinions. Having an opinion doesn't make it okay to say mean, offensive, or unnecessary things.
Averyl Fong thank you!! I'm glad that someone else sees this too
Guys I was just trying to say that you should take things more lightly. I don't really care what people's preferences are, and I also wouldn't care if someone said my favorite kind was gross. It's not that I don't like debates and stuff in the TH-cam comments. I usually do this kind of thing. But I think it's ridiculous how people get so worked up about stuff and I was just trying to get the super long comments about how it is or isn't mean to stop.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊Bye
winter melon bubble tea is so good, it has such a good fragrant
Is this the youtube hipster channel?
How is it hipster? Bubble Tea is extremely popular in Korea. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of what hipsters are?
I ment the people in that video.
InsaneCommunity ah well again popular styles in Korea. So not hipster again.
They're in Korea so I don't know if you can classify Korean styles with an American term.
Everything about their channel is popularity, except for their treasure finds and indie Korean videos. They talk about famous Kpop bands and interview some of their members, visit popular eating destinations, show tutorials for making Korean food staples, make tutorials for Kpop makeup looks, etc. Pretty much 80% of their channel is Korean mainstream.
Why did you call that girl who was fangirling "nasties" thats not nice XD
Vanessa Escalambre Ah! Sorry for the misunderstanding: it's what we call our audience. The Nasties! We got it from an old joke in which we said "ooooh you so Nasty" in an old video, and it stuck with us :D
You're new here arnt you:)
1:42 look how Simon is towering over everybody he is like a Titan :D
I am very offended on how you treated the wintermelon milk tea :( that's the one i always order and it's my fave lol maybe it was just too sweet and you should've picked pearls yes i will defend my wintermelon milk tea!!!! ok bye haha
i love winter melon milk tea it`s yummy to me, Simon described it perfectly
YES GONG CHA SO GOOOD ugh love gong cha. Snow Mounteen also has amaaaazing bubble tea! YAY for bubble tea!
omg im so happy you said winter melon tastes like leftover cereal milk! thats exactly how i described it when i first moved to taiwan and my friends in the states wanted to understand. i am also not a fan but i know some people really like winter melon.
Yay that your friends/crew, who come with you on each FAPFAP and WANK adventure, got in front of the camera for the intro this time. Bubble tea, one of the things my sister loves to get whenever she's in an Asian neighborhood in a new place, just like I love to get seaweed salad.
We have Gong Cha here in Adelaide. We have 2!!!! I wouldn't go anywhere else for bubble tea. Passion fruit green tea with pearls all the way.
I am back here 5 years later only to watch Simon's face again when he drinks the Watermelon bubble tea :') :') :') love you guys so much!!!
Gong Cha was originated from Taiwan, and I am a Taiwanese. There are many variations to the drinks they created, and the Wintermelon Tea had a few variations as well. Adding milk would make it Wintermelon Milk Tea, you would probably think it's good if you like pure Wintermelon Tea. There is even Wintermelon Tea with cream (just like the cream on the House Special Green Tea). Wintermelon Tea was brewed from pure Wintermelon sugar, so you cannot choose sugar level. The jelly in there is called White Pearl, which is a healthier version of black pearls or boba balls. Those black boba are made out of starch while White Pearls are made from seaweed. Well, less calories and chewy jelly, that's what the Taiwanese are looking for! However when they opened the branches to other parts of the world, the people there are seriously not appreciating them.....
i love simon's manner legs hahaha
Gong cha just opened its first store in Mexico although it’s not my city it’s planning to open one here and i just remembered this video and I’m just so happy!!!!
4 years later -> Gong Cha is in Edison, NJ only 15 min away from school -> Dream has come true!
omg simonn and the eddie murphy ice cream song..u just made my day:)
In my local mall they have this little stand that's been there for years and they sell smoothies, milkshakes, bubble tea and the like. Their bubble tea is wonderful.
Wintermelon is heaven! Especially the house special.
Wintermelon Signature Tea with white pearl jelly is the bomb!
You guys make the best videos!
they have it in Australia. I love the Green milk tea
I live in Singapore and Gongcha is almost everywhere. I heard from my friend about the Gongcha outlet in Hongdae. When I checked the place out, I was quite shocked to find out that their bubble tea costs almost twice as much as the ones in Singapore.
Gong Cha's Mango Alisan with jelly&pearl is my favorite
