Why not
I've thought of an idea of a sort of underground black market like village before. It'd have new villagers that would sell more...interesting stuff. Like the alchemist, who sells various potions. Even some you can't create yourself. Or the explorer, who is a bit braver as he travels to other dimensions to sell you things like quartz or chorus fruit...for a high price, of course.
I’m totally on board with this cave update idea. But remember, with a cave update, could come more scary cave noises.

Look, here's my theory. Mining is an enormous part of the game, the Nether is much less. The Nether update is Mojang's way of experimenting with vertical biomes. Next update or so will likely be cave.

nah after the nether their going to make some changes to existing biomes such as goats in the mountain biome or vultures in the badlands. then they’re going to add a new dimension. cave update won’t be for a while

I think your new jungle ore is should be jade. It can be like lapis lazuli for enchanting. It will be more rare than lapis and will give access to special enchantments or for upgrade some in game enchantments to upper level.
Jade should be same as lapis but you wouldn’t need xp to enchant with it

A few more ideas for cave update:
- Lost Ruins/civilization so we can act like Indiana Jones (could even have the hat as a wearable item).
- Poisonous sludge as an alternative to lava.
- A maze with a really strong boss wandering inside and good loot at the center (David and Goliath kind of thing)
- Catacombs where the dead reside (make it very scary, and can possibly give a lore explanation as to where skeletons come from etc, could possibly be a halloween update)
- Underworld civilization/biome (i'm thinking Journey to the center of earth kind of vibe)
- Lava tubes (analogous to real world, where lava used to flow and formed a tube, could be adorned with crystals etc)
Those are all good ideas, but I think it would be a little bit too much, caves need to be balanced.

You can't switch lava with poisonous sludge if you expect the spawning of diamonds to be realistic.
Don’t mean to be a party pooper but here are some things that won’t work. The generation for the structures you mentioned is very (near impossible) hard. They would have to fix the terrain gen just to add that. Plus it wouldn’t be balanced the point of caves is mine. If you want all of those structures just go to the nether in the nether update.

@@gackolpz but thats super inefficient. When you normaly mine you get resources, xp and coble. The xp is very good as it can heal up your pickaxe (mending). But with coble gen you only get coble and nothing else.
@@Vit-Pokorny but the point he is making is that he needs only cobblestone as a reasource. He can still go mine for reasource at the same time with the new reasource that would be added with the cave update.

We could also add a salt cave that has salt in it, this could be used in many ways for example you could use salt to make your food last longer or even a salt lamp that can be customized with color and would illuminate even more not to mention that they could heal you. Or magnetite that could attract metal like copper or iron, gazers could appear in layer one of a desert cave and would launch you when it erupts. Maybe even a small and passive creature than would camouflage itself like an ore and when killed could drop a crystal, a scary mob that would only attack in the darkness, or a laser that could be crafted with copper, redstone and a crystal, this could be used to distract mobs (obviously exept the warden).

By implementing 3D biomes in the Nether Update, Mojang could be laying the groundwork for biomes in caves and the underground
Yes, and maybe netherite was implemented because netherite pickaxes will be used to break the bedrock layer, and these new cave biomes will be below what is currently bedrock.
@@theot1692 extending the world limits further down would cause a myriad of problems. Performance is a big issue, and what happens to chunks that have been generated before the cave update? Would the new caves just not exist in those worlds? Etc. Etc.
@@theot1692 Bedrock breaking in survival is already terrible form using glitches, giving players the ability to do it without cheats or glitches better spent elsewhere? Not going to happen. Not to mention you're thinking the Nether, when the End, which, contrary to popular belief, is not an ending, is much better form if we're sticking to the Old Dimensions. Better we improve the End and the Old Bosses, then add more, than waste time breaking the sacred block of bedrock.

@@maxwellli7057 The performance wouldn't be too bad if they implemented 3 dimensional chunk loading, that way chunks far enough above/below you wouldn't be loaded in addition to those far enough to the North, South, East, and West like we see now. There are minecraft clones out there that use that strategy to improve performance.
When I explore the overworld I always find a location and think this would be great for building something, never in my years of playing Minecraft have I ever been in a cave and thought I wanna build something here. It’s so boring and all caves seem alike, I just want more unique cave generation.

Ideas:
Ogres: Hostile mobs that inhabit caves, guard large veins of ores, and burn in daylight
Mushroom colonies: Large open Non-poisonus mushrolm caves found in the lower layer caves and have Mushroom villages
Mushroom Villagers: Passive mobs that behave like villagers and farm mushrooms in the Mushroom colonies
bleach patrol but the farm mushrooms could be purple or whatever’s color the biome is and the villagers would look different with types of clothing and new trades possibly to really help you progress but then again the others could be a similar mystery to the illagers probably more outcasts which could be a real big finding.

I highly doubt we'll NEVER get a cave update by now. Mojang has heard us loud and clear. It probably just wont be until later down the line in maybe a year or two, because they have their own ideas they want to do first.

I would say that iron, Gold, diamond and netherite Amor does not warm you tho. But leather would (that way leather Amor would finnaly get useful.

@@madmadz05 Personally I think it's just enough to where it's not too much and it adds a hole new block pallet, base location, and armor and tool set. And especially for bedrock, it's an update that makes it equal to Java

@@pixoljef7830 So what mojang has done is they skipped 1.15 for bedrock and are putting all the big fixes and parity's into 1.16 so its aligned with Java finally. It has not been released yet but you should go watch silent whisperer for more details
