Gravel carting not going well

Today we start gravel carting! It's time to start making the road in Hattons, however the sand is besting Ben and he is starting to get bogged.
So we are doing a competition, who ever correctly guesses the number of times Ben gets bogged and is the first to comment it on this video will get a hat! But only one person can win so get your guesses in. The winner will be announced in a future video when the gravel carting has finished or Ben stops getting bogged

G'day JH. I'm sure you guys probably know all this anyway, and I'm guessing you've probably got the sand hill sorted by now, but if not try and convince Ben to drop his drive tyre pressures to 55-60psi. Its a pain to do, but he'll have an easier time in the soft spots, and 60psi will still be fine for loaded shorthauls. The ultimate is a CTI system, absolutely brilliant bit of kit for any truck working offroad. Also if at all possible swap the prime mover to a six wheeler, 8 wheelers are hopeless in soft conditions. Finally, I'll go with 21 bogs. Good luck!

What about hydraulic motor driven off the trucks PTO driven pump as in used for a tipper hoist ?? ....then easy to vary the RPM's and no fire hazzards !!

8 times bogged is my guess, the flexible tire should come out pretty easy if you loosen all the flange bolts on either side. I think you might need to remove it before the taper lock will break free. Using a good soft hammer also helps to get them back in. Good luck with the road build that’s a big project 👍

I understand what you are saying about getting bogged in sand,I did a drivers course with the Army, they teach you into dirt,but sand is completely different 😅

Sometimes diesel fire pump skids that are removed from demolished buildings and industrial sites turn up on market place. That might be worth a look.

How about a self contained 13hp 2inch davey twin impeller pump. They are incredible. We put one on our fire truck along with an air operated tap so we can have a cannon/ nozzle out the drivers side. Can be used effectively on your own. Throws a good 25m jet of water.

I was going to say 7 times bogged but someone else has guessed that. With your water cart pump set up because you haven’t got much in the way of length available between the tank and the cab maybe you could put the pump and motor next to each other with belts joining them together that way you could gear up the pump speed simply by pulley sizes

For a new diesel engine the guys at Euro Diesel in Perth are great to deal with, I’m sure they could help you with an engine and advise on the pump drive reducing the installed length especially if using an air cooled engine.

Why don’t you use a hydraulic drive motor the truck will have pto on it

You can’t use a trucks pto whilst driving as it will damage it. Also when ever you use the clutch it will turn the pto off, not ideal when fighting a fire and have the water stop 😂
