as always grim hallow delivers, especially sangromancy
I do love the Grim Hollow subclasses - I've never understood why hit die aren't used very often.
In my game, the long rest mechanic competes with use of hit dice. If most resources take a long rest to get back and long rests restore hit points, you simply might not be taking short rests and rolling hit dice that often.
I have a druid/rogue/ranger character named "Longjaw", who worships a malevolent forest entity, and has a preferred taste for the flesh of halflings.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess they're a Lizardfolk?
@@Zer0Dakilla Human.
@@heatseekerx51 nice!
@@Zer0Dakilla Essentially, he uses this combination of tracking/stalking and wildshape to locate, infiltrate, & kill his prey.
That's awesome! Huge predator vibes. Is this character in a group with other players? If so how does your dm go about separating time for this and the other player characters.
LET'S GO MUTATION!!!!
I’m waiting for those Paladin and cleric subclass videos!!
We are playing Grim Hollow for the first time. My friends are playing the Fractured Barbarian, the Green Ranger and the Eldritch Cleric.
What is 10:19 from?
Another note, fantastic video as usual.
These sub classes sounds so much fun and can add so much potiential and flavor, heck even a twist of narative to my homebrewery! Hope all of this comes eventually too D&D Beyond!
Thanks so much! We hope so, too.
Is there maybe a Circle of Vermin Druid subclass? I'm imagining a druid who, instead of wildshaping into animals, summons a swarm of rats that you can cast spells from or gain pack tactics when fighting with your swarm. A street urchin growing up in the sewers with not but the rats keeping them warm has learned to harness the power of the swarm.
I know in the players guide there is a Ranger class called the vermin lord, though I can’t remember the specific abilities
Swarmkeeper ranger
Sounds like you want the Vermin Lord Ranger, who controls swarms of rats that slowly devour their enemies alive!
Check out this video, where I break it down in detail! th-cam.com/video/Ak9hW4MqQ44/w-d-xo.html
Have you heard of Spores Druid
I own the Grim Hollow books and I found an issue with the Circle of Mutations Druid, specifically the 10th level ability. You’re able to apply permanent mutations to beasts, however the Druid doesn’t have any permanent beast companion, the only thing close to it being the familiar that isn’t a beast, but a fey. So that means the best use for these permanent mutations is when it’s paired with a beast master class. However the Primal Spirit subclass states the CR for your companion is equal to your proficiency bonus, which at lvl 10 would be 4. The issue comes in when you try to give that companion multiattack, as it states the cost will be equal to 2 + 2 x the beast’s CR, which for people who failed mathematics means it’s (4x2) + 2 = 10. So you can’t actually give the beast companion for the Barbarian multiattack, but you can give the beast companion for the Ranger multiattack and +3 armor class at the same time with a 5th lvl spell slot
I love the banner in the background.
the Grim Hollow subclasses are all dope. Wondering which book the Monster Hunter is going to be in, or if its getting released separately?
Appreciate it! 😄 Definitely plans for the monster hunter in the future. It has not been forgotten!!
Wouldn't it be ironic if the Circle of Blood druids used their magic to summon something dangerous that would threaten them and the territories they protect? Simply because they have forgotten the principle of nature that where blood flows, a predator suspects a wounded and thus weakened prey animal - and thus goes there to strike and devour it.
This would be a wonderful theme for a Grim Dark campaign and a great element for such player-character druids that they cast their spells and the dungeon master always writes down how many there were and how much blood flowed in the process in order to then (e.g. with a D100 percent dice or if it simply fits dramaturgically well) to determine that gruesome creatures of nature or the elemental plane appear at him and thus regularly involve him in fights, as they have followed the blood in air, earth and water to him like sharks and challenge this apparent prey - now recognised as another predator - to a fight to the death.
I'd love to order some of these but you only sell from Australia and I think shipping would be too much =/
I’m so glad you asked! 😁 We’ll be hitting retail in the US very soon!! You can ask your friendly local game store if they’ll be getting Grim Hollow in stock, or order online within the US before long.
@GhostfireGaming I'm from the UK unfortunately 😔
Ah, apologies. 😖 Hopefully one day we may have UK distribution as well, but sadly no timeline on that.
@GhostfireGaming any idea what sort of cost it would be to ship to UK ??
WHere can I find info on the Sangromancy School of Magic? Is it only the subclass and spell list or are rules for the school somewhere that I am not aware of?
Good question. tl;dr: Sangromancy as a rule is simply a key word for other rules like spell descriptions and subclass features.
There are no specific rules for Sangromancy spells seperate from the spell description. But what all Sangromancy spells have in common is that your character must sacrifice Hit Dice for the spell effect to work.
Certain subclasses (namely the Sangromancer Wizard and Circle of Blood Druid) have rules that interact with spells that have the Sangromancy tag.
@@GhostfireGaming Thanks so much! It took me a few minuites to realize the spell descriptions held rules for spending HD and just watched the Sangromancy-How to Use Blood Magic in Your D&D Campaign" that Ben did. It makes sense now!! :)
What are those fancy alt covers in the background???
Collectors editions from the Grim Hollow Kickstarters. Possibly the last ones we have left in the office, too!
Oh if only I had backed you guys then!
Love your work, thanks for the response.
What is the title of the anime in the Plague Doctor-Part ? :)
That logo reminds me of Al Jazeera
I have a player that is playing the wizard subclass, his character really dosent fit together in concept and it’s just sad.
I wish he had listened more in character creation and not made such a mess of a character.
I’m not throwing him out cause his rp is fine and I’m not asking him to change cause he has fun with the character
It’s pronounced Kaitin not shitin
My life is a lie. 😑
