This is great. What I am not sure about is it the greater miracle that the Beatles were able to play in such a vast variety of musical styles and just blow our minds, or that the Grateful Dead were able to play all of the fast miraculous musical styles in that same Grateful Dead vibe and bring it to life for us deadheads?
When even legendary Grateful Dead sing a "minor" Beatles song, you realise how far and deep their influence got. I wish we had more bands like those, nowadays. 🖖😉
steph knup they sang “That Would Be Something”, one of Paul McCartney’s most obscure solo releases, and they started doing it 21 years after it came out:
I heard this live the second and last time they did it at Alpine Valley that Summer. We picked up a couple hitchhikers on the way up going North on Illinois Rt. 47. about ten miles South of the Wisconsin state line. one of them asked us if we wanted to do a drop of liquid 25. He put a big one on my tongue. They surprised me with WDWDIITR in he second set and I lost it. The only reason I remember ANY of this is because I tore all my abs because I was in hysterics lying on the grass for the whole song. I was sore for four or five days afterwards....

It's weird but this is what I said to this chick who was a couple years older than me when I first got laid in a hippie pad in Boston just before they came out with the white album.
WOW, when you listen to this it makes you realize how fucking great McCartneys voice was. !!! This is ok I guess but sounds like 6th graders singing. lol. lol. Paul could sing soft love songs then yell and scream as good as anyone in heaven metal. or punk !!!!! McCartney screamed in key too !!!!!
I love everything about the Grateful Dead and all their songs, but one has to be honest, this is one of their goofiest covers. I felt the same way when I was standing their watching it that night in Irvine... There was a great Terrapin that night. This song was unremarkable

@@stephknup3427 that's why "minor" is within quotation marks. 🖖😉
@@justanotherrandomcrit8115 IDGAF, IM GONNA SAY IT. “That would be something” is an amazing song and that’s McCartney not even at his best songwriting
@@COMMODOOSA which half?
Drove up from San Diego to see this show.
I was there, epic opener into Bertha and Jack Straw. Crowd was nuts.
I like the way Jerry worked the lower register for his solo. Great phrasing, too!

I REALLY REALLY like Jerry and the boys version here, plays a parallel with the original Beatles version>>>>
Very pleasant.

I fuckin' dare ya!!!
Video out out out there there?? ?
Phil leading
Nowhere near Beatles' (Paul's) rawness, power or coolness.
Youre right. Its leagues ahead.
. Its IS good and fun to listen to...compelling even...but not even close to how amazing the original is.
The only one who could give Mccartney as good as he got was Lennon. That they were in the same group defies likelyhood. Mystifying!
Was haben die Jungs eigentlich nicht gecovert?
