Played Northwestern recently and it was another back and forth contest. We're trying to establish the run, but it's almost like we have to pass more than we would like to win. At least we can. Back and forth action throughout... they score, we tie, we score, they tie... 14 up at recess. They go up in the 3rd on some good play. We wait to the 4th to counter, but leave 3+ minutes on the clock. They get down into the red zone. First & Goal to the 2. Then they try this cutesy PA at the goal line and we sack them back to the 9. They then get back to the 3 for a 20 yard FG on the right hash. Kick is up... BONG!!!! Sounds like the Taco Bell ad on the right post. We get the ball at the 20 and march right back to score with no time left. UConn 28 Northwestern 21 in another classic. Our adjustment to man to man late really saved us. Thankfully... Nick Evers 14/20 for 159 and 1 TD Gavin Garcia 20 rushes for 171 and a recovered fumble (this is getting concerning! May have to lighten his load against Sam Houston) Durell Robinson 8 attempts gaining 36 and 1 TD Cam Edwards 5 tries for 28 Brian Toler 5 tries for 15 2 TDs and multiple 3/4 & 1 converts which really helped Skyler Bell 10 catches 109 yards 1 TD, Indy POTW (all else had like 1) Isiah Davis 9 Tackles Zakhari Spears 8 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Pick in the end zone which was clutch since it saved 7 and us going down 21-7 before recess. Indy POTW D'Mon Brinson 8 Tackles Jordan Wright 7 Tackles Julien Simon 6 Tackles, 1 TFL, .5 Sack Nathan Voohis 6 Tackles, 1 TFL Cleto Chol 4 Tackles, 1 TFL, .5 Sack, but a very costly penalty late that converted a 1st down into the Red Zone in the 4th which led to the above. We are 13th in both polls heading into the Bye. Since we had the Bye, we moved ahead and are now 9th(!!!!!!) in both polls at 6-1. We took our first win over a B1G school and move to 3-4 vs. P4s all time. Next we go to Sam Houston State and this has the markings of a trap game.
Wow! That sounds like another intense game!! I love playing those neck and neck games but boy do they seem to take years off my life 😂😂 Gavin did seem to get a lot more carries in this game than he was used to seeing (at least in % of total touches since durrell had 8 touches compared to Gavin's 20) maybe Gavin just wasn't comfortable with the higher percentage of touches and was a little susceptible to fumbling? Not sure 🤷♂️ Brian Toler seemed to be clutch for you though! Skylar and Zakhari are dawgs though...... Congrats on a top 10 poll spot 👏👌
@@ProblyNathan Yea... these tight games are taking a toll on me. 😄 I think Gavin did tote the rock too much this week now that I look at it. I have to pay attention to the rotation a bit more. He may have been hurting at that point. Brian's our FB and will get some chances on short yardage when we know it's close enough where he should be effective and get us the key runs. At least he saves a in close hit on one of the other backs. Seems like Cam's the "FB" regularly so it's good to have Brian around. Yea, I am really liking what Skyler's brought to the offense and Zakhari (and all the DBs) have brought to the defense. That's about the only negative play Cleto's had though, so I'm OK with that. Yes, the musician and not the type of dog or the MMA Fighters The other end zone is the Student Section. I had to look it up. At this point, Middle Tennessee State will be an elimination game. I know you don't play Sam Houston, but I don't think they'll be good enough to be less than 2 losses.
Yeah it wasn't an ideal fumble 🤦🏻 haha Bro I've been loving having Mailau on the team opposite of Westmoreland. I think there play together helps to elevate each other since the OL can't just double team Westmoreland. Yeah I feel bad for immediately creating a new Kennesaw QB legend when he hasn't really "earned it" yet. He will probably end up being the best be the end of his senior senior but then Nick John's the 5 star will be our new leader. And ooooh well thanks for finding the answer haha
@@ProblyNathan Mailau has really helped make the defense better. At least now there isn't one key on the DL and teams just can't double both. Someone's going to have 1 on 1. As long as Ethan stays, you have a new #1 QB overall for KSU... but Nick Johns will become the best Sophomore/Junior year. At least he'll be home grown.
