Hammer is my main and only weapon... It's uniquely easy to learn and hard to master. Moves are all quite simple... Ledge hopping being maybe the only technique that can be a bit tricky... But it's the knowledge about when and how to use which move that makes the hammer player stand out from the rest. Positioning and timing are so crucial every time. Handling the different charge levels while moving and approaching the desisered spot of a monster. Punishing according to opportunity windows considering how committed you have to be to some moves. In the end... A very satisfactory weapon to play and to learn.
A great cb player will fully use the guard point technique to make defensive counterattacks. A Great Hammer player just beats monsters on the ground. Hammer Pog
4:38 I have this weird Asian power that can also be found when measuring the amount of water needed for cooking rice and it's that a strange voice calls out to me if the water is enough, same goes when I use the hammer, a strange voice calls out to me when the monster is about to KO so I hit it with the big attacks, never fails me
im glad to know that after maining hammer since mhw release im a level 10 user. aerial hammer has no business being as good as it is. its so fun defying the laws of gravity and trajectory with hammer.
Monster Trapping is peak, but I'd like to add that continuous monster stunning and exhausting makes the poor creature damn near completely unable to move lol
Surprised to see ledge hopping wasnt mentioned on its own. Also, chaining spinning airial bludgeons on a hill can absolutely demolish enemies and give you lots of mounting damage. If you are going down in a diagonal, you can tilt your camera to the point of jumping uphill again with the flying spinning bludgeon. Glad I use almost all of them( I don't do counting damage for exhaust and part breaks and the slinger combos).
That Glavenus punish at the end. Beautiful. Also I never have managed to pull off the instant charge slash tech you featured in your Great Sword video. Still learning 1500 hours in!
Thank you for the kind words! As for the Great Sword tech, that wasn't my video. That was by Aris MH. The 10 levels of ____ is something that several runners of the community decided to do to show off some of the neat stuff you can do with the weapon.
@@Lumini_T Whoops! My bad. Maybe I'll hop over to that video in particular again sometime, haha. I wonder how the 10 levels of the bowguns are. "Lvl 1-10, point and shoot" :D Seriously though, I'll keep that ledge-hop trap spam in mind, manually disengaging the mount like that looks to be so helpful.
@@Matadurr As a heads up, the ledge trap spam is just one example of a monster knockdown. There are other runners out there like Retrou who have excellent examples of level 10 play in their runs. As for the ledge hop spam, you can make it even stronger by utilizing Frostcraft. Then every time you get a mount, your meter starts refilling for more juicy damage!
@@Lumini_T excellent idea! I recently figured out doing a golf swing after a charged aerial attack. More stylish than anything, but it sure is fun. I just wish we could change the angle of attacks slightly when doing a Big Bang combo...elder dragon heads thrashing about when toppled are the bane of my existence.
Level 11 is *consistent* centrifugal press to head. Not the body or wings. Level 10 is literally just ledge hop spam. Am hammer main (on alt), can confirn: it works.
It's not that big there's a few weapon before hammer that comes to mind(gunlance, heavy bowgun, LS iai slash, final attack of perfect rush,) and of course Greatsword is definitely first by quiet a margin.
Yea transitioning Greatsword skills to hammer. Both are pretty simple but hammer takes cake because of charging while moving that when you go back to Greatsword you feel like you lost chunks of Greatsword skills.😂
Hammer is so easy, that i mastered it a few hours after picking it up for the first time. I was also getting better times on monsters than with other wepons.

"Centrifugal press" is a better technique name than it has any right to be

Hammer Pog
Thats why i use both

Ancestor's voice
3:28 spamming ledgehop jump attacks with hammer is one of lifes simplest pleasures

hammer and greatsword beeing buddies by borrowing aerial style from generations.
I had no idea the clutch claw follow up attacks had actual names, learned something 😂. This was a fun watch, thanks for making it 😁👍
They don't have names as far as I know. I made them up. But I'm happy you enjoyed it!
@@Lumini_T Fooled me with those cool names lol! I always forget to abuse the slinger for those cool combos, hammer noob here 😂
@@Lumini_T actually they do, for example: the sns is "claw uppercut"
That NSR OST hits every time.
This is a great video, man! Thank you for affirming the Level 10 hammers!
Centrifugal Press sounds like an attack from Kinnikuman, and I love this

As one who uses Unga Bunga hammer, I found this video inspirational
Oh, so that's what the charged slinger bursts are for.
You have great content sir, and this guide is also helpful! Nice!
I recognize the background music, it's No Straight Roads Sayu's theme (Rock version) GREAT Game and LOVE the video My Guy!!
We play hammer the same way. I'm so proud ;w;
Took me til gold g crown in mh4u to learn that charge attacks existed

The spin is so slow in world, but the power makes up for it
Guitar Sayo theme tho
Wow I'm happy to say I'm level 9! I don't use aerial hammer since its very situational but dang my bonk game is on point!
Aerial Hammer is just one way to achieve lvl 10. Remember, if you can lock the monster down, then it's considered as lvl 10!
Nice. Finally. Next SnS please 👍
My dude, you will see me do Hunting Horn first before I end up doing SnS haha
Insect Glaive could be interesting.
10 Levels of BONK
Essentially the best aerial weapon in the game.
Level 11 is *consistent* centrifugal press to head. Not the body or wings.
Level 10 is literally just ledge hop spam. Am hammer main (on alt), can confirn: it works.
Nsr for the win
Level 0: i just wanna bonk and see big numbers
It's not that big there's a few weapon before hammer that comes to mind(gunlance, heavy bowgun, LS iai slash, final attack of perfect rush,) and of course Greatsword is definitely first by quiet a margin.

As a hammer main I’m sad I’m not this level of sweat
2:36 999 damage 😳
Area 3 for ledge hops dealing 960 + per hop is the best.
Over 700 hammer hunts, and I've never used that slinger burst bs.
Same it’s not even useful
Could have grouped all the slinger types flash/pod/screamer into one tech.
How do you do the brutal big bang and then follow it up with the clutch claw centrifugal press spin?
🤘💥 🔨
Wait wait wait. Your telling me there's 10 lV i thought it was just only bonk. That's all I've been doing clearly im missing out
I am nearing level two.
Nice video
Nice video fam
How to do jump with the hammer
You don't it's a ledge attack spam(both hammer and Greatsword exploit this) or sliding attack.
How to do the level 6 one?
Main greatsword first then main hammer
How do the super spinnyroundy bonks when clutching? :Oc
You can do it by using the clutch action after performing a level 3 charge attack
@@Lumini_T :O!
_COWABUNGA IT IS_
But....BONK IS BONK ;D

Does hammer have any armored moves?
“Gear does not make the hunter”
Cool story bro whats your set and decos?
i think u should add the buttons to the moves just so new people n noobs know what buttons to press for ps4 n pc
Accidentally lvl 10 Hammer main I guess.
How is 0:04 performed? always playing MHW and stops when Iceborne come out. Is that a new move?
Uhhh thats the golf swing its just tringle triangle triangle
@@peen20 isnt golf swing at 0:20?
@@peen20 oh shit, yes, you're right. that zinogre slap made me think that the player is jumping
10? Wasn't it just bonk?
1:13 I can not do this move it not followwing cluth claw move.
I got it now you can not hold any button before cluth claw.
Hammah easy weapon real ungabunga. It's the greatsword we never had 😅
Git gud is the only tip u needed
