No, sharks and whale are not halal. From what i see, the argument that says it's halal are mainly from Hadits about how starving sailors eats a fish that's said to be like a small mountain and/or camel, and it's assumed to be sharks or whale. What i see the flaw on that argument though, is that: 1. Anything, other than human meat, becomes halal as long as it's not poisonous for your body if there're no other option left while you're starving, in Islam. The basic there is that your life is always deemed as a priority. 2. The said sailors on the hadits don't have any knowledge about what kind of fish they're eating, as it's something they said they've never saw before. It's very likely a whale or shark, but without knowledge of its human eating capable carnivore status, it's indeed becomes permissable for them. But nowadays, we know sharks and whales would eat humans, some types even aggressively pursued humans whenever we're swimming in the water near them, hence it shouldn't be permissable unless no other option left but that or death. Also if you're talking about the verse about permission to eat sea creaturess...it doesn't specify in detail that you can eat even the man eating carnivores of the sea as well. Also it doesn't say "just fish", but then schools of thoughts assumed just fish, and not squids.
Who fucking cares! They slaughter the animals and kill them more slowly. I mean I'm sure the animals care because it is not an instant kill and they are probably scared.
xSplayd The halal means that the animal who is sloughtering is in a place that the other animals can't see,and it must take seconds for animal who is sloughtering so it won't feel the pain. (Sorry for my bad english(
Halal meat isn't only about Muslim chanting quranic verses before slaughtering. There's are other aspects to it. Halal is a process of breeding animals in certain ways and slaughtering them in certain manners as well right from the start of the ownership of the animal. If any of these steps aren't followed, the meat will not be halal. Some of the steps include: 1. The animal must be herbivorous. 2. The animal needs to be breed/raised in a clean environment. 3. It has to be provided with good, healthy food and water. 4. Treated humanely and kindly (cannot cause pain and suffering to the animal) 5. Must be free from disease before slaughtering. 6. Needs to be more than 1 yr old for Cattles and 2 yrs for Lamb, Sheep, and others. 7. Slaughtered without causing unnecessary pain (the 4 jugular veins that are attached to the nerve tissue and spine need to cut completely; in that way, the animal doesn't realize the pain when quickly slaughtered) 8. The animal can not see other animals being slaughtered ( It strikes fear to the animal, Fear causes the release of iron from the blood into meat; hence the meat doesn't taste good afterward). That's why genuinely, Halal meat tastes better than Industry produced meat where animals are slaughtered in front of other animals making the animals crazy and sick. Leave a like, if you have learned something about Halal meat. :)
Maybe they dont or maybe they do. It could be because the food cart in 53rd street (halal guys) is so iconic in new york that the word 'Halal' to New Yorkers have become the Generic trademarks to those rice plates. How meat becomes halal: the meat has to be killed with the most minimal amount to harm to the animal and other animals can’t see the death of other animals. The animal can’t eat cockroaches flies or anything like that these are the most important points on halal

+Ash that's very inappropriate then
I always wondered if the food was actually halal or just called "Halal"
actueally it does. something beinghalal means that the food was killed facing the direction of maca and killed in a specific way. when the animal is killed that way all the blood gets out and it makes the meat taste better. normal meat was gotten in any way but the way halal food was "killed" makes it taste better. basicaly halal food doesnt have blood left in the meat. so yeah. i would know. i am an arab muslim
Sahar Ismail Halal doesn't make that much of a difference in the taste of the meat. Most blood isn't even present in haram meat either.
FFS it's ramadan and I feel full by watching them eating nonstop!
I love Gyros. Every time I go to NYC I have two pick up a couple of lamb gyros.
Do these guys have any idea what halal means? 😁
Dian Kartawiria nope
Dian Kartawiria they just said the rice doesn’t taste like the different cart called halal guys. You would know if you lived in NYC
No it's actually food with restrictions and limitations for Muslims.
I feel like you guys miss interpreted the word halal. you should explain that this food caters to the muslim population in New York. Hence the word halal.

How meat becomes halal: the meat has to be killed with the most minimal amount to harm to the animal and other animals can’t see the death of other animals. The animal can’t eat cockroaches flies or anything like that these are the most important points on halal
ok guys great work ! well on the falafal sandwiches ( or do you 'll call em wraps ? ) Try tasting them with the pita bread, cut and stuffed (in between, just to make it clear, separate a pita bread in two );with parsley, a hint of coriander and mint;a drizzle of tahina (sesame pasten - very important) , two lengthwise slices of cucumber pickle. Well i grew up in Dubai; i know falafel or shawarma when i flipping smell it !!!!!
awesome video guys loved it
Where is "chicken over rice"?
chicken over rice or lamb, anytime.
Thanks guys iam from Egypt :D
The Fung Bros are amazing!
Halal food recommendations in Manhattan - I love Sammy's @ NE Corner 6th Ave & W 4th St. They offer two things that no one else does - stewed chickpeas (for free - ask for it) and green sauce (herb spice blend). They also won an award!
I recommend yelping some other great halal carts. I feel that many halal carts are acceptable but some really are GREAT if you check the reviews out.
Happy eating guys!

The fact that the food is halal doesn't change its taste
Why are you using the term Halal as if meaning only middle eastern food?
Wuzzup fung bros.. Try Thai street food from new York city 👌
Lol the hot dog is still halal
So bit more research on halal
The 1st time i tried halal food was from the halal guys. Now i get lamb/chicken over rice with white and bbq sauce at least once a week from my fav halal cart or from the halal guys.
I grew up in Philly eating the hot dogs and hot sausages from the carts. To this day which is many years since I moved from the Philly area, I have yet to get that same hot sausage they sold back in Philly/NY. Can you guys do a vlog on the search for a great hot sausage cart???!!!
