Guenther is on pace for 164 goals. It's a steal I'd say
Rookie numbers smh.
Easily sustainable
Mcdavid is on pace for 0. Can you believe it!?!?
Only my be a pro player blows pace that
Lol
Laff for 8x8 sounds expensive especially considering the Shesty deal coming. we will have to trade guys for Cap space for sure.
Compared to all the 8x8 contracts being thrown around to guys with 1 or 2 years under their belts, a Laf 8x8 seems to make sense
Would be interested to hear what you think Connor Zary's next contract will be. He's an RFA this coming offseason and I think the Flames will be tempted with locking him up on an 8 yr deal instead of bridging him.
Hockey is back baby
Habs fan here, Guenther at 4M$/yr for 3 years is a steal, specially if you think about Slafkovsky's new contract that also starts next season once his ELC ends, 7.6M$/yr for 8 years.
In both case, they are paying for future possible success and if all goes well, both will be steals compare to new contracts signed later once the cap is increase.
Guenther could turn out a massive underpay if he takes another step and becomes an elite F. He`s fast, he can score, i only see him getting better.
And his contract should age well, as the new CBA propably will raise the cap to a new level.
For one Draisaitl you can field Guenther and Clayton Keller.
The goalies seem to get bigger paydays now. But i don`t like Sways contract. It`s a difference to have a elite duo, than to shoulder 60 games.
BOS makes goalies look good, and i think Sway got paid for that.
I would not be surprised if that turns into a bad contract soon.
Lafreniere was one of the only ranger stars to continue their play late into that playoffs, especially against Florida. As a ranger fan ill take an 8x8
During the hurricanes and panthers series, laf consistently produced and played well when the others on the team were spotty. They’re looking for more consistent production
I’m so happy about Ullmark and the contract, plus in about five years goalie prospects like Søgaard and Meriläinen should be making their way up into the nhl too
The 8:50 mark of the video features the start of a mention of Ullmark's great performance in a 3-1 Sens' win over the Panthers. Stopping all but one of 31 shots makes me think of a much healthier Thatcher Demko, with the Canucks' goalie still out due to a series of injuries that early last postseason he suffered.
Goalie prospects on Canadian NHL teams are interesting, with how many who end up playing more than just a handful of NHL non-preseason games dependent on so many factors. While Connor Hellebuyck had before the 2024 preseason played for almost 10 seasons having started, or otherwise played in, the majority of Jets' regular-season games, the Habs (Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau) and Oilers (Stu Skinner and Cal Pickard) are the only Canadian teams whose goalie tandems are the same as last season. It'll be interesting how many Canadian teams that have, according to the front offices, playoff aspirations (with such teams that I count all but the Flames and Habs) end up making it and then how far those teams get. Goaltending is often a difference-maker in the postseason but also in the regular season.
@@wainber1 thanks bot
@mattgardiner744, on that claim of yours, you and I will have to agree to disagree.
Daccord makes total sense. No head scratch at all. He dominated in the AHL under the current coach and played a full season workload. The Kraken aren’t betting on replicating. They’re betting at worst he’s a high end backup. You’re gonna be real shocked when you see what the next set of goalie contracts are going to look like. It’s way dumber to wait. Also Grus been solid. Slight overpay maybe but his stats don’t really tell the story. We’re not crying about it.

@@Pablum444Yes it does casual
@@Pablum444 that all ya got? Feel free to bring up some well informed discussion points
Gru is straight up cheeks, watched plenty of kraken games myself that contract is terrible. Dude is a mid-range backup at best
I thought you'd get into Pavel's extension, but maybe next time.
That Daccord deal really surprised me. They started Grubauer game 1 and he blew it as usual then they immediately paid daccord lol.
@@cheddarandsourcream Gru played great that game. Gru was also the better goalie at the end of camp. You new to hockey?
@@krakenspectacor3 goals against on 25 shots is not great. Maybe you’re the one who’s new to hockey?
@@cheddarandsourcream thanks for confirming you’re new. Save % is a pretty meaningless stat in isolation. Welcome to the NHL bud!
They all on fent in that city
@@cheddarandsourcreamBro, this really is a weak argument. There are goalies on weak teams that consistently have a save% under .900 and are still good goalies
Most overpaid by far , is Nurse.
PLDiva?
@@doaftheloafnurse is trash lol id honestly rather pay PLD then him
I was hoping you'd get to Thomas Harley with Dallas
$4M a year on a bridge is a steal for Harley. He'll probably cash in on next deal, but locking up a young player on the rise for the next 2 seasons at that price on a team that is a legit SC contender is great value.
Why wouldn't you mention the biggest extension in NHL history? Thoughts on Draisaitl's extension?
Great Video, as usual, Nyquist
Laf extension is a bit much. I'd expect something like 3 years 6-6.5m AAV. They still don't know what the Shesterkin and Panarin (in 2026-27) contracts will look like, so tying up this much cap space into Laf feels odd. I'm expecting Panarin to get close to 11-12m a year again once he becomes a free agent, but he could always take a team friendly deal if he wants to play out his career there. Shesterkin not accepting 11m a year is a bit alarming though, so who knows what he's going to get. They need to pay most of their d-man in a couple years as well.
He’ll be almost 35, 10 would be the max on a Panarin contract. It would be a decrease from his current for sure no questions asked. But with the cap going up I can see him still getting 10
Swayman wanted to change the demographic of tendies contracts and by gawd it’s worked.
sway is an overpay based on what he's done so far. come back in a year or two when he's actually accomplished something.
He took the job over a very recent Vezina winner, which means the team sees him as a potential Vezina winner at the very least, aka an elite goaltender, plus he’s younger and his lack of experience was caused by the Bruins themselves.
Both ended up getting paid the same AAV.
@@doaftheloaf that’s irrelevant to the comment you replied to
I mainly agree with your list. As A Rangers Fan, I do agree with you, that, 8x8 is a bit rich For Alexis Lafrenniere, however, I think that he signed for less/yr since you released this video. Let me know what you think about the Contract.
Elias Pettersson signed a 8 year , $92,800,000 contract with the Vancouver Canucks, including $47,000,000 signing bonus, $92,800,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $11,600,000. Way over paid. I might be early but he is not looking good at all.
The last CBA messed things up. Younger guys get to free agency faster so now guys get paid on potential instead of accomplishments.
yup 40seconds after I type this Nyquist brings it up lol
@@tankdiggs8974 26 is plenty of time to prove yourself.
Used to be the vets like Gary Roberts that got the bag...LoL
Personally I really hope the rangers make that deal. It’s been very hard watching other teams take some risk with young players whereas the rangers just don’t. It’s time to switch that up, gamble a bit for long term gain
Daccord at 5 x 5m is OVERPAID. I hope he'll prove me wrong but I still think it's too early for such extension...
Great Vid
if they pay husso a hamburger per game he is overpaid
The Boston defence narrative is just dumb. Sens had better defensive metrics than Boston last season.
If sabres make the playoff the wings don't lol
Huh
Hope the Rags give Laff 10m/year lol
Overpaid, playing in the NHL offers nothing of value to society. The people who pick up my garbage every week are of greater value and more essential. They should be making millions while these useless rich kids get $20/hr.
Calm down karen
Womp womp
Daccord is a dumb contract wow
I think 8 mil is a bit high for laffy and I don’t think he’s up there w stuzzle I agree they’re more dynamic on offense but as laffy does have a bit more 200 ft game and might be a more complete player
Bro remembered he had a channel this week
No one has watched the wntire video yet
laf underpaid if less than 14 mil
They're all grossly overpaid
Ullmark contract gonna age terribly
Yo mamas gonna age terribly
I would pay him far more a year if I had to pick between him and Korpisalo (with his current contract). Bruins got fleeced.
