I was 19 in the Coast Guard heading for Antarctica and this song was playing in the dark of night in the middle of the pacific just south of the Equator and it was the first time I saw the Southern Cross in the sky. So hard to explain the way the moment was perfect.
Great song and wonderful reaction to great old song "Southern Cross". Crosby, Stills & Nash always give me chills hearin' 'em sing! @VloggingWithGreg you really need to do a reaction to Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey" 😊
Hey Greg! I don't know how I missed this one when it came out - but Great Reaction! I love watching people when they are truly enjoying a song. CSN is great and then added another great in Neil Young. Amazingly talented individuals come together to make a harmonious super group!
Grew up listening to this band. It was always so good to hear their voices, music & harmony. They are pretty legendary. They did have something rather perfect.
The "bounce in the voice" you're talking about is called vibrato. That's Stephen Stills singing lead and the others on harmony. Fantastic harmonies! On the album version it's Graham Nash and Timothy B. Schmit (From the band The Eagles. David Crosby had left the group, then rejoined the group but too late to get his vocals recorded on the album) on the harmony vocals.
The three together was magic. And then you can add Neil Young to the mix for some more fire music. This was when music was real. You either could sing or you couldn't. No hiding behind any of today's technology. Pure Magic!
Check out Wasted on the Way and Teach Your Children. The music is incredible and the messages in both songs are very powerful. Don't delay and forget my good man!
Blue Water Sailing song with ramifications still being discovered. That southern island of the Marquises is the island of Fatu Hiva. Approximately 23 days form southern Mexico on a mono haul. You will arrive at the Bay of Virgins. Durning April and May the constellation Southern Cross will be symmetrical. Only place on the planet. A vector through the cross straight to the horizon will be true south. The ancient Polynesians used the Southern Cross to navigate to Rapa Nui. (Easter Island). Recent genome studies have shown that Polynesian DNA is present in Columbian and Mexican native Americans. For all those that have gone through a divorce. SV Living At The Coast

The greatest three part harmonies in rock music.
This is my all-time favorite song! While I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, it speaks to me in a way no other song ever has.
