I was looking for this game like forever... I used to call this game "Family" due to intro picture. I always remembered that there was a dog instead of a monkey. :D But still.
Aside from the licensed characters and the weapons, this game is how an early 1990s MS-DOS Test Drive game might have looked if Accolade hadn't switched to (very early) 3D for Test Drive III: The Passion. I can definitely see the Test Drive II: The Duel DNA in the way the road behaves.
But that was the fun part where you couls upgrade your gadgets and unlock the ones missing in first stage 😮 So many of these corners are just a well timed jump to get across 3 to 5 bends on the road hehehe
This game could've been waaay more playable and decent if they make the sprite much smaller. The gigantic sprite mixed with small ass track makes no sense at all.
It's called rallying nowadays 😂 Speed Racer is vaguely based in the interwars period of 1920's and 1930's with car designs taken from after WW2 in the 1950's. Tracks are supposed to be a mix of road rally with small stadium sections and little villages
I always played the demo.
I often waited 5 minutes after the start at the start so I have the road for myself
I miss this game so much lol
God, no wonder I sucked at this game a kid, you can barely see the obstacles at speed lol
When I was a Kid I have played so well.
I only had the demo...i used to love it!!
Since no one else commented, this video is bugging me deeply for not using the jump coils in the first race or the boost rockets at any point
Better than the SNES game I guess...
Haha I love this game, those giant car sprites and the soundbytes are cracking me up
Remember this was made for the DOS early pc there was no 3D
Also just turn on the DOS sound chip so u can hear how the musics should really be
@@peashooteranimations8082 DooM was released in the same year, and Need For Speed just a year later
@@nrdesign1991 Althought one year is enought time to learn from other games mistakes
@@nrdesign1991 and Its partially 3d I mean Doom maps were 3D but quite a lot was actually 2D sprites
Did Peter Fernandez and Corinne actually record new lines for this game? It sounds it at points! :)

Any chance you know any trick? Like unlocking other cars? xD
"It's too bad, but he asked for it."
This was originally going to get a Mega Drive port

No.
I remember this from childhood.
That shitty yellow car....
We will race you again and we will beat you
7:55 the demo map
This game looks really annoying today, but we wasted endless hours racing each other
Don't think I ever even started the single player 😁

With more polish this game could be much better.😕
Yup, the graphics were pretty sweet for that time. Just the game controls were quite bad.
I remember this Game a kind of better, 25 years ago
melange still races...
melange has rabies
I used to love that robotic driver and laughed by butt about it 🤣 I always wondered what it said!

Ah yes, just as terrible and goofy as I remember from the demo. Spent hours with it.
