@@DieselDucy hey Andrew this is Jackson I’m gonna show you some elevators here in downtown red deer Alberta Canada if you want to come up here with Jason and maybe Jeff
Normally isis has the lantern on the innerdoor but this one doesnt maybe this one was actually a modernisation with the standard isis equipment but the owners couldnt afford to install the lanterns on the innerdoors
This would be a ThyssenKrupp ISIS 45. Why? The 45 is the capacity. 4500 pounds. This is an ISIS II, so we don't list the rise, and the capacity is a two digit number for the model number of an ISIS II.
Interesting to see a ThyssenKrupp ISIS with Aurora fixtures, usually they have Signa4 fixtures. Also, ThyssenKrupp traction elevators with Aurora fixtures are very rare, and TH-cam user ih8thyssenkrupp found a 19 story ThyssenKrupp Aurora at a Hampton Inn in Soho NY.
Nope ISIS usually have Blue Aurora. Signa4 was introduced in 2008. It is indeed interesting to see Thyssenkrupp ISIS with Red Aurora. Traction151 has found Thyssenkrupp ISIS with older Vandal Resistant fixtures at Mayer Hall UCSD in La Jolla CA.
Yeah it's pretty crazy isn't it? You have to admit it's a really well disguised elevator, because of the average person they never would've guessed that this is a ISIS 2 elevator from ThyssenKrupp
Sounds like their Payne maintenance, too. Never knew (cr)ISIS used Aurora. What few videos I've seen of them, had their own goofy-looking fixtures. You literally survived a brush with death. Atuomatic death trap.
If those are kevlar cables, how did that get by? I thought that ThyssenKrupp ordered that all ISIS elevators got a steel cable replacement after the incident at that hospital.
If anything isis was a learning tool for TKE. Kevlar is pretty freaking strong, after all it's what they make bulletproof vests out of. This model of elevator made it very clear that Kevlar needs to stay out of an elevator shaft.
Hey Andrew this is Jackson can show you and Jason the elevators at red deer transit centre station/parking garage and I’m gonna show you your first R&E elevators with Otis exolators
ISIS was TK's prototype to MRL. But it is very dangerous as the Kevlar belts can snap. The regular ISIS motors were mounted at the bottom of the hoistway meaning if you have a water leak in the building, where does all the water go? The hoistway. Now your motor is ruined. ISIS 2 is overhead drive but still very dangerous. At this point, TK was just trying to compete with the Gen2 and EcoDisc. It was rolled out WAAAY too soon, so therefor it was soon discontinued and replaced with Synergy.
Elevations by 22408aaron yes KONE had a lot of time to develop MRL lifts well so TK was in the need to hurry up to be competitive on the elevator market. And hurrying up too much causes mistakes. The first Gen2 I know about is from 2001 while I know Synergy lifts from 2007 onwards. Looks like TK limited their "nightly built" MRL (ISIS) for testing purpose just on US. By the way Schindler was also fast, they intoduced their futuristic MRL lifts with keypad floor selection in the late 90s and they seem to run rather good after being fixed.
It doesn't even have the cool isis chimes, which should never have been discontinued. The fact that Isis sucked doesn't mean that the chimes should've been killed along with it.
"And those of us who know anything about elevators know how wonderful the ISIS is?"
I'm pretty sure the NSA caught that message.
Nice video as always, Andrew :)
Heritage Elevators hey Alex how are you I haven't watched yet
This is actually a Thyssenkrupp Aurora.
It is an ISIS
ThyssenKrupp Aurora is the name of the fixture, not the drive unit. The machinery is ISIS 2.
@@DieselDucy hey Andrew this is Jackson I’m gonna show you some elevators here in downtown red deer Alberta Canada if you want to come up here with Jason and maybe Jeff
All issis 2's were retrofitted to Drako steel ropes. This manufactures ropes have blue lines on them
my mistake. Kevlar was white I think.
+DieselDucy Yep Kevlar was white ropes with blue lines on them. Look: docs.google.com/file/d/0B3oucuTviZxYRzVKQnFvSjhKN1U/edit
@OM G kevlar is indeed stronger than steel, but less has very little friction resistance and hence there are cases of rope snapping.
Normally isis has the lantern on the innerdoor but this one doesnt maybe this one was actually a modernisation with the standard isis equipment but the owners couldnt afford to install the lanterns on the innerdoors
This is the ISIS2 which is overhead drive.

I never would have guessed this was an ISIS. It doesn't have the oddly designed cab that most ISIS elevators have.

Brock's Sketchbook they have steel cables
How do you know?
This is a synergy, not an isis. The blue marks you see on the cables are paint.
***** You are right, every technician that I have come across has said "CRISIS" and I don't blame them, even TK technicians say it.
Even more ironic, the terrorist group isis now associates the model name itself with a crisis!
If anything isis was a learning tool for TKE. Kevlar is pretty freaking strong, after all it's what they make bulletproof vests out of. This model of elevator made it very clear that Kevlar needs to stay out of an elevator shaft.
TOTALLY! agree!
Isnt this ThyssenKrupp Aurora? Or MRL is ISIS because MRL is usually Synergy
ISIS is only installed between 2001 or 2002 and 2007.
It’s ISIS 2. Also, Aurora is the name of the fixture. Synergy is what replaced the ISIS machinery
Never seen a (cr)ISIS, in general.
I have seen a 2-speed door in the middle, but open in the "wrong" direction, relative to the front door.
I think this is a new design for the ISIS model but I think it's weird how TK used the Aurora fixtures But overall what a great video
IT'S A TRACTION ELEVATOR!
I never ridden in ThyssenKrupp 1515 2 before but it looks like ThyssenKrupp Aurora indicator.
Awesome.
I like the thyssenkrupp buzz.
Hey Andrew this is Jackson can show you and Jason the elevators at red deer transit centre station/parking garage and I’m gonna show you your first R&E elevators with Otis exolators
Actually, that is a Thyssenkrupp Aurora elevator that doesn’t have a machine room.
Its an MRL elevator so it is ISIS 2
I’m guessing you had to get some sort of permission to go up on the roof like that
Back when this was filmed it was just open.
what is it what makes ISIS2 different to other TK elevators and why is this sort of ISIS so rare. I didn't really get it yet...

Aaron, the Kevlar ropes are stronger than steel by far, but they do not take friction well.
22408aaron I think the belts overheated and melted in the accident, they didn’t snap.
how could you tell if the elevator was ISIS?
Where do you get your elevator records? The ones I found only say when the elevator was installed, not brand, type, etc.
Andrew, if they needed to work on and Mrl elevator how would they do that
You ain't asking me so I ain't bothering to answer this.
Why don't The ISIS 2 Have the Kone Ecodisc Motor on the MRL
