It's not something when u are tested as a cornerback but when u have talent behind u they dont throw the ball your way but with the 49ers he got tested and tried he was older and he showed that it was him not the safeties earl thomas and kam.

OBJ won how you gonn watch this and still say Sherman won lol even on the incomplete passes where Eli gave a bad ball you could see Odell was open as day. Sherman made 1 good play entire game and that’s what people based the matchup on Odell even played good D to not let Sherman get it but Thomas was there to get it.

@Kunta Kinte McChickens lmao if a defense coordinator sees his DB getting absolutely cooked (ITS CLEAR AS DAY IN THIS FOOTAGE ODELL WAS WINNING 1 on 1) then of course he’s going to call zone. I’ve played DB since I first started pee wee, if my coach sees a DB can’t hold his own 1 on 1 on an island then he’s going to change coverage to give that DB help and try to contain the WR which is what they did. You could literally see on the plays Sherman ran man that Odell was winning, they showed stats middle of this video Odell was 2/2 for 50 yards on Sherman halfway through the game. Not to mention the ridiculous release Odell had on him at 1:06 then stiff armed Sherman for another 3-4 yards.

I hate it when people hate on Sherm nowadays cuz he had a bad game in the SB. But he is still one of the best CBs in the game. Not #1 like he used to be when he was with Seattle. But he still an above average CB. Great cover 3. The Achilles injury kinda messed him up.

It’s just obvious as day the more you watch Sherman matchups with top wideouts ; he’s not going to shut you down. He will certainly control a side of the field and make routes along his sideline super risky. He’s borderline HOF in my opinion. But when you talk about Revis, Champ, Ramsey, Peterson and even Nnamdi when he was with Oak you saw them line up and follow you on in routes and break up slants and make it difficult as a wr ALL DAY. What I see is you can run a handful of routes against Sherman and have a good day because he passes off all of these routes. Sherman is great at what he does but you can’t say he’s a nightmare for WRs the way the other guys I mentioned were or currently are
As a Giants fan, I agree with you. He doesn’t have the top end speed and shiftiness to blanket top tier receivers. But he does use the sideline to his advantage better than any corner. He’s def HOF imo

Sherman LOCKED down the whole side of the field. He was a massive threat and it showed on how many teams refused to throw against him. One of the best i have ever seen. Seahawks D was never made to follow people around. You had your side and that was it. Can not compare other people to him, just the job he did versus what they did. He was the BEST corner from when he entered. No way could anyone completely stop a wr during a game. but he sure did limit what they got.
