    I love your scrappy socks. To do the toe on 9 inch circulars I use 2 needles. Half the stitches on each one. It’s how I learned and it works out great!!💚

    It totally makes sense, in fact, without seeing anyone doing it this way, that’s how I figured out to weave my ends as well!! But I will try the one stitch before thing, thanks. Happy sock knitting!!

    It makes sense since your knitting in the round. 😊 I love his method and since I hate weaving at the end of projects, I use it all the time.

    I basically use the Weave in Stephen method, too. If you weave in the tail of the NEW yarn 3 or 4 stitches BEFORE you begin using it, that closes up any gap when you get back around to that space.

    I love your scrappy sock basket with everything you need right there, I'm going to start a scrappy basket so I am ready for Scrappy Sundays, thanks! I like to weave in ends as I go as I don't like finishing work. I weave in ends of stripe colors as I go: I start weaving in the end of my upcoming color about 6 stitches BEFORE the end of the old color's last round, then I weave in the new color end at the start of the round with new color.

    I am knitting my first pair of socks using your vanilla sock pattern on 9” circular needles. I am practicing with us 4 and a cast on of 48 stitches. They are lounging socks for my husband. I am trying to adjust for the larger needles and yarn and have had to frog it several times because they were to big. My husband wears a size 13. We’ll see how it goes. I have a cuff cast on with sport weight on size 2 needles , but my size 1 9” circulars are supposed to be delivered today 🤞

    I was doing a Weavin' Steven on my scrappy blanWket just as you said it and I had to smile. I cheat and go back the other direction with a tapestry needle when I finish a square, cuse I'm a little paranoid and in the end the blanket will have a lot of weight on the seams. It is right by the row of picked up stitches so I'm not worried about the extra bulk. Maybe one day soon I will officially trust that it won't unwind.

    If you're experimenting with weaving ideas to decide which you prefer, I'm wondering if you have tried Andrea's technique from Fruity Knitting where she weaves in the leading tail of the yarn she's about to switch to, while she's coming up to the end of the round, then starts knitting with that new yarn while weaving in the tail of the old one at the beginning of the round. It avoids bulkiness by having the two tails woven in at different places. She did put up a tutorial video for that and I was so impressed with it I memorized it instantly!

    I've heard you say in several videos that you can't knit the toe on 9" circular. It's possible but can can get a bit fiddly. You just pull the cable at the midpoint as if you're doing magic loop. You won't have a huge loop but its really just about bringing those stitches closer together.

    • @CrazySockLady
      @CrazySockLady  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tried and it was a mess. Just much easier to change it over. ☺️

      @@CrazySockLady I agree. I've only done it when I was traveling for work and forgot to toss other needles in my bag. Generally I have a set of Flexiflips that I don't particularly like knitting full socks on (9" all the way!). When I get to the toe I'll put half the sitches on one of those and keep the other half on my 9" and basically treat them like DPNs.
