No special requirements. Apossible replacement could be 2N3903/2N3904. But a simple BC547 would do the job at 27Mhz as well (500mW). Take care to reduce IC to max. 5mA for BC547.
if i made this i would set it to 5 or 6MHz, (the antenna is of course a bit longer!) with only very little power and favorable conditions you can get around half the world! i tested that, you can listen to it Frequency on the free SDRs. Kind Regards Rob

Which is the transistor is used? PN2222 or 2n2222 (metal shielded)?
Good question as the plastic package does not work in place of the metal package and vice versa.
Maybe ksp2222 it is a Plastic package medium frequency transistor all of this transistors will work propertly
