- On this episode of Death By, Lauren Kalil and the contestants discuss whether spot allocations at Semifinals were distributed correctly, if the order of Events matters when it comes to who earned Games spots, if there's a benefit to bringing back the Last Chance Qualifier, and the biggest overlooked moments from Semifinals.

Yes to last chance qualifier because it’s fun and another two weeks of analysis!
Absolutely bring back the last chance qualifier! My favorite athletes aren’t the supermen/women. It’s the athletes that remind us of us and struggle during the games. The crowds go wild encouraging those athletes. It’s the story of overcoming adversity that I believe is what captivates us about the sport. All of us would like another chance, a do over. Bring it back!
You think last qualifier athletes compare to you?😂
Building the sport is not always about finding the fittest male and female. There is more to sport than just number one. We need the game and we need the local athletes to watch and root for.
What is others thoughts on helping the sport grow by having a smaller event, like how ncaa bb has the tournament and the NIT. For the ones that didn't make the games, combined the points earned at the semifinals and x number of people make it to spin-off. Just a thought
Great episode! Games are gonna be electric.
Great episode
Great show with my favorite opinionated panel. I agree with Justin about Ricky's Event 1 performance. Torian and East were the best semifinals.
The lights reflecting in your eye glasses are distracting!
I love a world ranking system
Yes, CrossFit must bring back the last chance. I am rooting here for Colten and Olvia 🙏🏻
No last chance qualifier but fix the comparability of event 1 and change the distribution of spots over the regions. Instead of giving out 40 spots, give 35. Each region will have about one spot less where the athletes are sure of their spot. For the final 5 spots compare the scores of all athletes that didn’t make the cut worldwide and take the best 5 overall. Theoretically those 5 could come from 1 region.
Ricky has a good chance of winning the games this yr. Praying he stays healthy and injury free
Up the the games spot to 50 men and 50 women. 100 of the fittest people even has a better ring to it
I think Justin is wrong, if you make the claim that the allocation was wrong, that people are there based on region and not performance, then how does a cool pre games event for a last chance qualifier not make sense?
You make a fair point. My issue with a last chance qualifier or a “2nd chance” to make the Games after semis is that it will devalue semis. I’m just not a fan of a “redo” after semis. But just my opinion!! Thanks for chiming in!
Roman talking smack after whining about it gives me the cringe.
You can not compare times to live competition, it doesn't work that way in any sport.
Track and field, swimming, weightlifting, power lifting, hyrox
Simple the athletics that came with A game made it and the ones that fell behind on certain events didn't. There is not a second chance to make something because we feel bad for the athletic or we like them. If you are trying to make the Olympics and you lost there is not a second chance to try again.
Shd there be crossfit?
Ich ma alle Flai. Hühnaflai, Swaineflai, Lindflai, alle Flai.
Justin: “we need to professionalize the sport and make it better for athletes”
Also Justin: “if you’re sick one weekend of the year for semis f- you, go home, you suck”
Professionalize the sport absolutely by creating a real season with multiple tiered events similar to the pga tour or atp tennis tour. Where we can create a points system to qualify athletes for the “grandslam events”.
To your second misquote of what I said, it was in reference to a last chance qualifier which in the current structure of the season I am completely against. I dislike the structure of the season the way it is. But since it’s what we got, part of the deal is you have to be ready to perform during the Open, quarters, and semis if you want to get to the Games. If you aren’t, it sucks, but for that specific season, you are shit out of luck. 🤷♂️
@@justincotler9666 You make solid points however this is a unique sport and competition. Maybe the question that should be considered is what do the Affiliates and fans want. If the Last Chance Qualifier promotes interest, engagement and grows the sport shouldn’t that enter into the equation?
This guy in the top right corner is really annoying. That’s how it’s always been so that’s how it’s got to be. What a bad argument.
The NFL is 10000x more exciting then CrossFit and they have the Wild card. NBA has a play in game and one of them made it to the finals last year.. poor arguments from y’all.
