If everyone engaged with people the way Russell does, I'm sure the world would be a happier, friendlier place than it currently is... Definitely one of the people I'd like to meet & have a proper conversation with...

Kids appear to be wise beyond their age because they have not been totally intimidated, programmed and put to sleep yet..... listen to the children!!

    • @mukd
      @mukd 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

kus108 Agreed. I was just happy to see that they weren't your typical kids consumed by the mainstream. When one of them said he would rather play football in the park with his mates instead of being indoors playing video games it made me smile. Barely see kids kicking balls on the streets anymore, probably too busy with their iPhones.

I commend that young man! It just goes to show that the negative influences behind our entertainment will never be more powerful than the positive influences of the people we love. His nan should be proud.

Love this Russell, I used to go Secondary school just up the road and we used to use Haggerston Park for PE. I was part of a team just like this in Plaistow, we had a football and boxing team, really helped me out a lot, in terms of confidence especially.

    • @cadnewham

Most of these kids probably go to my secondary school as well. We never really had good footballers.

Great video Russell! As an aspiring football coach, seeing the impact the sport has on the mentality of today's youth is just as rewarding as winning games on the pitch. The intangibles that come with playing football are highly underrated so thank you for giving them a spotlight. I hope you continue making videos showing the team's progress.

This was the best Trews to date. So heart warming, especially since it seems like the world is falling apart. A good after school recreation program is key to a strong society.

I imagine talking to young kids about revolution is approached in a very cautious manner, and I feel like it is done well in this episode of Trews. Whether or not your presence there made a good impression on those youth or not, Russell this is truly beautiful what has happened here, I think.

Urbanisation and a shift away from 'traditional' lifestyles, in which community was mechanical and a natural by-product of small town environments, means community matters more than ever imo. Community can be extremely powerful and capable of effecting change. With urbanisation comes fragmentation, but community has the power to overcome these boundaries and draw us together.

Russel you are the only person who i have ever seen ask about a young mans family background before, its not intruding and its not rude. You are trying to discover more about the person you are engaging conversation with him in a positive matter even if the subject isn't always positive as well.
You sir have just gained my upmost respect and your channel needs to grow and grow because the more eyes that see you then the more positive opinions and thoughts you can set free from the open minds scattered across our large community.
Just please keep doing what you are doing!
    Thank you.

Hi Russell, I am a little bit addicted to the Trews, so thank you for starting something so refreshingly honest in a world of double think. I went to see Harry Leslie Smith (the 90-year-old author of Harry's Last Stand) speak recently and he said he is a great admirer of you, but he disagrees with your stance on not voting. I think you should invite him onto the Trews to debate this issue with you. The man is an absolute inspiration and I think you would really enjoy speaking to him. Also, I agree with the other comments about the lack of female guests. Here are my suggestions: Caroline Lucas, Josie Long, Natalie Bennett, Bonnie Greer, me. Thanks again x

I found that really uplifting to see two twelve year old kids act so mature and they are clearly taking a pro active role in ensuring they have a good quality of life and that they turn out to be good people. And I commend Russel for getting out there and seeing the world and asking questions. It shows to me that he isn't just a madman looking for attention but that he actually deeply cares about people.

Alana, best not to assume about the young people are under-privileged or indeed that it is a 'race' issue. What the key messages I saw & heard were about how important it was to have good supportive adults in young peoples lives, no matter of colour, culture, gender etc.

hi russell! I've watched the trews ever since it began and I've followed your beliefs and views for a few years! I really love everything you do and always tell my friends (much to their irritation) about how much I am obsessed with your work and comedy! I don't have any important worldly views but I just wanted to let you know how much I love you. I hope that will be able to see you or even meet you some day (although I fear for my sanity if I do as I will probably break down in tears of happiness). Anyway thank you, xx

I like what the lad said at 7:05 that he's a Christian. Glad he's not 'kicking' the evolution can down the street. His gran must be on the ball if she's a believer. She certainly 'scored' another believer in him. The 'penalty' for being a true Christian is that everyone hates us. But I'm sure he'll bag some souls in the back of the net.

I love that people who worship martyrs try really hard to BE martyrs....Nobody hates Christians...we just get irritated when they verbally throw hate at others. It does`nt sound as if this young man & his family do that sort of thing.

    • @TigerDan925
      @TigerDan925 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      *****
True Christianity and creation are mutually tied together, just like evolution and atheism are mutually tied. But Evolution and creation are opposing forces. Sounds a bit wordy but hope that clarifies?

Don't you think your comment proves my original point? All I said was positive stuff but you found a way to make me sound like a fundie lurking in the comments ready to devour any victims with talk of being a martyr. I never said anything like that.

These kids and their coaches are really important. This kind of community activity is great. You can see how football helped the kid on the right deal with the stresses of life and learn to overcome them by channelling those energies into something productive. And although I'm not religious its great to see the devoted family values the kid had on the left. Really pleased to see this, restores faith in the situation in the UK.

dear russell, i love hearing your fair, common sensical and articulate thoughts every trewsday. whether you conclude with a reading from an inspiring text or not, your comic manner, your cosmic consciousness, is irresistibly positive, (at least to me and my friends) is compassionate and contributes greatly to the growing field of love and awareness that can bring about beneficent change for all beings comprising our home the earth. these are interesting and dynamic times. you have done what few "celebrities" try to do: to speak up for peace and love and critique the status quo (not the band but the unjust and ignorant destructive autocracy of corporations and banks). in doing so i notice you receive many unsporting verbal abuses. to balance this iniquity i send you my indissoluble metaphysical blessing. db

Great stuff and lovely to see everyone supporting the Arsenal. I played pretty much all of my football with my mate John from age 8 till 22. Although we don't play we both are season ticket holders at Arsenal and lifelong friends. We both turn 30 next month... The point being is that football and team sports in general teach us so many lessons that can be applied to adult life. You learn how to be gracious in victory, you learn about things not working out. You even learn about being humbled, yes I remember getting beaten 13-3.
    More videos on community please.

A quote by Carlos Slim, 'we don't need a better world for a our children, we need to raise better children for our world' and I live by this as I believe that communities and fundamental factors like discipline, dedication and prosperity can only be taught in fair communities, they are important. As a national swimmer I train 7/8 times a weeks and the values I've learnt I feel I can adapt to my entire life and help other people's.

It's pretty cool to see as a huge football fan the positives that it can have at such a young age to teach discipline and great values, With what the reality of what the sport is turning into, is a big money greed fest.

First and foremost, I really, massively appreciate this channel.
Secondly, This video is an uplifting counterbalance to the more depressing (but equally important) videos about main stream media. It would be good to see more “Good Trews” , I think.
Thirdly, Russell Brand, if you read these comments, I am very excited about this book you mention. If I may be so bold as to suggest some books that I think are amazing, and I hope you will look at them as part of your research. (If not, maybe someone else reading this will take a look...)“23 Things They Don’t Tell You About Capitalism” The title speaks for itself… “The Spirit Level”. Research showing that the entire population gets happier and healthier when societies (and economies) get fairer… “Toxic Sludge Is Good For You”. Case studies of cynical PR campaigns throughout modern history.
And finally, I hope the new book does really well. I also hope it will have a respectable name (i.e. it won't be called "My Anarchy-Wanarchy" or "Russell's Ickle Revolution"....)

Ah Russell, I loved this video so much, I had a little tear or two watching it. Happy tears of course!
It was so nice to see a video like this on here. I think it should be a regular occurrence :)
I'm a huge fan of the trews and have been watching it pretty much from the start and just wanted to let you know I'm another person who really supports what you are doing.
I just wanted to ask, that I know you've briefly mentioned plant based diets and the meat industry, but I think it would be great if you did a couple of videos on the benefits of (at least mainly) plant based diets to our health and the corruption of the meat industry, it's link to Global warming, how we've been brainwashed by capitalists to believe we need/crave meat etc. etc. I know it's an extremely loaded topic, but I feel you have a wonderful platform here, and I really think that when faced with all the facts there is nobody in the world who can justify eating as much meat as we do (or at all). Even if it would just influence 20 people to change their dietary habits I think it would be worth it, but I genuinely think it would change so many more of your viewers' lives.

I've relocated to a community that, while it is home to Bhakti Fest, one of the largest spiritual festivals, it is also a high risk community when it comes to youth being exposed to drugs and alcohol. My friend and I currently have an Indiegogo to raise the up front funds to rent the spce next door to where I live and run a Center for Vital Livign - we've written programs and feel confident we can keep it going once we cover our start up. We are offering a gathering place where the adults and kids alike can come to shine and be appreciated for their unique gifts and we'll offer classes on all kinds of topics as well as host many well known speakers and teachers. We are excited to have this opportunity to serve. Our campaign is called Health Awareness Service to a Community in Need if you care to check it out. It's good to see you involved in your local community as well!

If you look at a lot of the recent Trews you'll see that he been getting an awful lot of shit for all the news based opinion he's been putting out recently, I think this is probably a response to that an its a brilliant new direction even if there's still an element where he's still censoring himself an under pressure to put out the right message, this morning I went into work my job is OK but all I heard was moaning and negativity, in really simple terms everything he's doing is positive and thats a simple choice everyone can make, so big thumbs up bro

"Playing games will corrupt your mind". Depends how seriously you take it. Whilst I play video games I'm thinking "How was this made", "How did they go about doing this?". I look at the details of work from art, animation, modelling, sound effects, particle stuff and music.
Some may think about the intricate levels of playing the game as if it was chess. There can be a lot of theory and calculations involved in some games.
The only real corruption is if you sit there, thinking your entitled to get some kind of positive score against the computer or other players and when you don't, think that it's a reasonable response to shout at the computer or other players. Some games encourage this kind of behavior and I think most of us can think of some culprits. The majority do not though.

    Hey Russell,
When are you going to be a guest on "comedians in cars getting coffee"? or "Getting Doug With High"? Mind you, I understand that you're a sober individual, but that didn't stop you before.

You know what stood out to me? Brand taking his shades off at about the minute mark. When you ask a man a question you look him in the eye. That's the kind of thing that speaks volumes in my book.

Not sure what Danny Welbeck's doing there training with a youth team in Hackney. He might not be good enough for Man Utd, but I think he's got a future in professional, or at least semi-professional, football.
