Carson is the best in the world for 2 strokes or any strokes, very down to earth guy and so humble and smiling all the way but a rider with blazing speeds and control on the dirt track😎👌👍
I let a fellow rider try out my yz250 last fall because he had never ridden a smoker before. When he got back to the pits, he said he was going to sell his 450 because it wasn't as fast or as fun as my bike. Love new recruits!
@@racingjack I prefer 4-stroke on the street and 2 on the dirt. Mostly for the weight savings and agile feeling. Plus, I like the somewhat unpredictability of the power band on the 2...just adds to the crazy. lol
Sorry to bust your bubble, but your YZ250 is not faster than a current 450 4-stroke race model. It might "feel" like it is, or sound like it is, but in reality, it is not. I own both as well.
I watch these videos because i love that 2stroke sound. But ,lets see if anybody else feels like i feel. 2strokes sound like they are falling apart when the come at you ,but rhey sound like heaven when they're running away from you.
Nice fast bike. Im going to get my 98 yz250 a 300 big bore kit. Heard about the powervalve not being much left and o ring placement. A shop said they been doing a kit for years. Maybe it will work out fine. These 98 motors are not the same as the 99+. There was once an ohlins kit but all is super rare.
Sweet bike, Yamaha could sell so many bikes if they made 300 2 strokes for off-road mainly but some 300 Mx bikes would also sell well. Plus, Carson brown fkn rips! His sx results have never done the man justice. He’s better than what his race results show but I got Carson vs Kenny in the final of the next straight rhythm comp lol.
I have a ktm 350 and I have no complaints but I’m old school and would still prefer to have a simpler 2 stroke but I live n commyfornia and our supreme leader won’t allow us to have 2 strokes anymore and now wants to take away all of our toys so until I can escape to a free world I’ll just stick with my 350.
I have 300kit on my 2017 yz250. I do a lot of wood riding and hill climbing. The 300 kit definitely kick ass, a lot of bottom end and you do get little bit more vibration but not a big deal.
I like the fact it’s up in CC’s because all these pinheads talk about a 4 stroke being better, faster, etc but they aren’t comparing apples to apples. A 450 2 stroke would absolutely kill a 450 4 stroke. A two stroke 80,125 & 250 is far more power than a 4 stroke of equal size engine size. Not to mention how the 4 strokes sound like shit. 4 strokes are NOT a true racing machine because of the power and the sound. No need to even start a 4 stroke for a friend to listen to because they sound like a lawnmower. The AMA and the manufacturers don’t give two shits about motocross at all. The sport was killed by the 4 stroke yet all they need to do is make race bikes again which would be 2 strokes. Look at the pros and they actually lug the bikes through turns because they have the power on the low end. Racing should be hearing the bikes screaming all over the track but it now sounds like a lawnmower convention.
I hate how 4 stroke fan boys will claim 4 strokes to be superior than their pre mixed counterparts, but start getting all defensive when you suggest that AMA change the rules to make ever class allow equal displacement no matter what type of engine someone wants to race with. They hate the thought of no longer having close to if not double the CCs against 2 strokes depending on if it's the 450 or 250 class, claiming it's somehow unfair despite 2 strokes being the inferior design in their opinions. Especially if you allow leaded fuel and don't restrict the mods you can do to 2 strokes like how they do things in Canada in their 250 class. If 4 strokes are so much better, why not allow someone to port, polish, and do whatever they can to their 2 cycle motors? I know there isn't a 450 2 stroke competitor for the premier class, but they should open up all mods to a base 250-300 engine up to the 450cc limit so people could create some gnarly builds to compete. It would be the closest thing to fair anyone could do unless a manufacturer makes a 450 2 stroke. Imagine a decked out YZ250 with a 295-325 big bore kit with a 2mm stroker kit also to pump it up to like a 325-350 with some crazy hp gains. It would be pushing 60 +\- 5hp or so and would actually be competitive against the 450s which have a rather large advantage over a 250. It would now be possible to holeshot a Supercross or AMA National race on a 2 stroke. Also would give privateers the chance to possibly win. Especially in the lites class where factory teams have an even bigger advantage over privateers. A factory 250f is so pumped up that they are likely capable of keeping up with a stock or lightly modded 250 2 stroke in terms of raw speed and acceleration. You'll never hear 4 stroke lovers want to or even be willing to give up the handicap they currently have.
yeah that how you shut a 4 stroker up real quick I've always said mix 300 2 strokes with 450 4 strokes and the next race the top 10 riders will beg to be on a 300 2 stroker
simple! the lightness, the power band, the eez of working on the engine, the no weight at the top of the engine, how cheap and easy it is to do top-ends makes for and much more flickable and way cheaper to maintain bike, like the saying goes 2 stroke is every man's bike
I just got a 250 2 strike, a 249cc, And the big thing I noticed was the exhaust pipe was only an inch thick going to the muffler. To me that is choking off the 2 stroke. But I found a place and intend to open that up to an inch and a half id as soon as I get a little money. What do you people think?
NO!. Do you think you know better than the engineers? If you think you need more power, get an aftermarket pipe and jet the carb properly and do not F with the pipe.
Why would you compare a noted out 450 to this bike in the video? You already have a huge displacement advantage at stock bore? Scared that a 2 stroke might be allowed to negate some of the handicap that 4 strokes have been given? Why not make it equal displacement regardless of engine type? 4 stroke riders refuse to compete on a level playing fieldz
