SPOILER STREAM Monday night live!
“ DADDDDYYYYY…. MOMMMMYYYY” 😭 that’s been stuck in my head since last night
SAVE ME FROM THE HELL OF LIVING
@@zackthestrongest5683 😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one Lmaoo🤣
Cage is quite a character in whatever role he plays in a movie.
The other male detective was my favorite character in his strong down to earth and straight forward seriousness
Right?! Same
It's Maika Monroe's world, I'm just livin in it.
I kind of wanted them to give cage scarier dialogue or maybe have an unkown actor play longlegs with creepier dialogue. I wanted to be really scared and I wasn't. Cage is great but I still got Cagism feels
Same. The silly singing and goofy Nic Cage stuff is definitely here in this movie and it wasn't scary lol.
I think it was absolutely great. The first omen was great tbh but long legs had me really unsteady and pretty frightened.
Great review, Mike!!! I can’t wait to see it!!! Taking your 13 year old daughter to a horror film, a sign of great parenting. I wish I had a vintage old school theater to see movie at, you’re lucky. It is a shame that the academy doesn’t recognize horror performances more because Nick Cage should’ve been had an Oscar. It’s just like stunt performances too, it just shows how the academy doesn’t care about everyone that works on and makes films, they only care about what draws revenue, because I remember a couple years ago when they were trying to stop airing the visual effects categories on tv. They only care about themselves, instead of celebrating cinema and making the award show connect with the average movie goer, that doesn’t watch arthouse cinema. But yeah, it is great to have a new lineup of commercial and indie horror directors.
MaXXXine and Longlegs both struggle from a not so good 3rd act, the 3rd act of MaXXXine was way worse though, and Longlegs might be my favorite movie of the year so far
MaZZZine
I really liked the third act of this one but I see a lot of people saying that so I'm looking forward to the spoiler stream
@@WeWatchedAMovie I just feel like it could have been better
I thought Maxxxine 3rd act was worlds better. At least it made sense.
@@chrisa9834 I think the Longlegs 3rd act was better, it felt less like it was from a cartoon
I watched it last night. It wasnt "frightening" but i was enthralled. The sound design was unhinged in the best way. Nic Cage fucking Ruled, and the two Detectives where fantastic. And people saying the 3rd act came out of nowhere, where NOT paying attention.
I think it needs a few re-watches to fully understand it. I loved it and loved cage's performance hes absolutely terrifying in this i never thought id say that about nicolas cage but he is 100%
Bro, Cage can do anything. He has an insane range.
Saw it earlier today and liked it, for the most part. It certainly wasn't the masterpiece people are claiming it is. I'm happy you and Cody Leach are calling out those that are making these hyperbolic statements about these movies, and how they hurt both the film and the viewers. I will watch it again when it's on Netflix/streaming, etc. and see if my opinion changes.
"Longdicks"---er, "Longlegs"---is a 7.5/10 for me.
Longlegs = longdicks
lol deserves an Oscar...gtfoh. The marketing budget appears to be in its final phase paying off all the YTers
aw him doesn't like people liking things him angry
I am SO with you on the thing that "perplexed" you toward the end. It's one of the very few things that bothered me about this movie. I know exactly what you're talking about and felt the same way.
Best horror movie in a decade was the tag line
TBF 10 years ago every horror movie had the tag line “Best/ scariest horror movie of the year/decade/ever”
Then every movie also said it was the #1 movie in America.
I don’t ever expect that to mean anything. I want to make a horror movie, and screen it to a nursing home so I can say people died from how scary my movie is.
You have the best TH-cam comment in a decade... see how easy it is to lie
we are not even half way through decade 😂
“They” said that about Hereditary. Sorry, not sorry, that movie was trash. So I’m not surprised. “ scariest movie since….” Is now going to mean I won’t waist money.
@@erickmain what would you say IS the scariest horror movie of the last 10 years? And don’t cop out and say, “No movies are scary to me.” Gotta pick one please
I think the term "scary" is WAY too ambiguous to be beneficial when marketing movies: people don't always get scared by the same thing.
Some love the jump scares of films like "Insidious" and "The Conjuring." Others love the splatter-fests of the "Evil Dead" franchise. And yet others are terrified of the bleak, dreadful vibes of "Hereditary" and "The Strangers." This seems to be its own beast of sorts.
General audiences expecting traditional Hollywood scares from "Longlegs" are pretty much guaranteed to hate it, which is probably why the RT audience score fell into the 50% range last night before making a comeback.
absolutely correct. Even when people say something is scary I assume there's a chance I won't feel that way.
I literally saw a RT audience review complaining about it being satanic propaganda lmao, the normie horror viewer is not the smartest
I almost walked out of this movie
No pacing problems IMO, the impactful scenes linger and build. Def homages to SOTL and Se7en in the DP department. Shades of Jodie Foster on Maika’s performance and BB on Cage’s but loved it. Favorite thing is the movie let’s the impactful moments and scenes linger on you like those movies did. Sooo good Underwood.
Boiling overall impact down to one scene. The dialogue in the mental institute visit. The patient’s perspective, knowing what she’s been thru, is more disturbing than imagery from 1,000 Terrifier movies.
part 1 pacing was perfect
part 2 pacing slow af
part 3 went too fast for no damn reason
@@joshpaul6417 looking back I still feel alright with 2, but you’ve got a point on 3. The “phasing” approach may have caused that rush, hindsight abandon the phases and let the narrative run. Thx for making me think about it
@@MrCancertropic A part of me wishes that this was about 15-20 minutes longer. It seems like these type of psychological thrillers do better with a longer runtime (Se7en was over 2 hours long).
@@johnny-bw8jn believe you’re spot on with that. I’m imagining that entire last 25 minutes of Seven crammed into 10 minutes and the more I think about it that last 10-15 minutes of Part 3 stretched out coulda felt really different. Think you’ve convinced me.
@@MrCancertropic I'm okay with act 3 as it is but it could've been even better. Some found the exposition dump a bit lazy, but to me it felt necessary and almost hypnotic. Overall I found the film fantastic.
what's crazy is i haven't seen any marketing for this movie, i haven't even seen a trailer for it and I'm on TH-cam a bit.
talking about going to your local old theater makes me miss my local Drive In, luckily i have many around me after they got rid of ours.
Horror movies are amazing at the Drive In and something everyone should get to expierence.
The black coats daughter was creepy - exactly for the reason you mentioned. I was watching it as a “what’s on that I’ve not seen, okay I’ll watch this” and it left me unsettled. More because it really hints at loneliness and grief in a very different way that leaves you feeling really disturbed. I don’t expect long legs to be “horror” I figure it will follow Osgoods usual pattern of leaving you a bit “weird” feeling, so I’m not setting myself up to expect a bunch of over the top scary.
Aside from Cage doing a real good Depp Wonka impression. It’s quite bad
When I the credits started rolling I felt this weird feeling/vibe that I haven’t gotten in so long after a movie. And for some reason the jumpy moments were really getting me in this movie. 9/10
They should have never starred an A-lister Hollywopd actor as a horror villain. This was like remaking A Nightmare on Elm Street, starring Tom Cruise as Freddy Kruger. We KNOW them, and we know its them. Once you do that, the fear factor is gone.
Though I love Cage in this role, You're not wrong
an oscar? seriously? Never been so opposite to this channels opinion before.. I really feel like this movie was very boring, predictable, and i laughed at the absurdity of it a bunch of times.. I feel like i am in the minority though..
Are you kidding me pfft This movie is cool
How do i give you my address and i already have a feather hahahah thanks for the review.. Can't wait to see ya'll tonight from TEXAS
Longlegs was a slow burn that ended with an explosion. Excellent movie and in a subtle way it kinda connects with Perkins 1st movie The Blackcoat's Daughter. Next bat shit crazy horror movie up is Cuckoo.
totally get that as far as Blackcoat's Daughter goes
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Wasted my time watching it - wasn't scary at all, the plotline was ridiculous & Nic Cage looked like a facelift/botox gone bad!
Best reviewer in the game.
Aw thank you so much!
Cage is a silly guy
He's goated
You had me at tickling the butthole with a feather; new subscriber here 🤣
In all seriousness, while this was a good movie, the hype machine was definitely detrimental. I’ll have to watch it again once its available to stream.
Maybe I watched a different movie from everyone else , but i haven’t been fooled this bad by marketing since Bird Box and the Blair Witch project. This movie sucked and I won’t give away spoilers but the plot was terrible
This movie is a true sleeper. I really enjoyed a nice nap and very happy about it.
Lol, i actually almost fell asleep too, but it got good, that woke me up😂
@@ReaperKid-od7rw lol. It was a little slow in the beginning.

@@WeWatchedAMovie ahhaahaah wrong name my bad lol
So I like this movie. “Blair Underwood” my 1 of favorite parts. I went in COMPLETELY blind as I always do.
This movie blew toward the 3rd act. 5/10 . Also weren’t we supposed to get a big reveal at the end for cage? Did anyone else see the supposedly big reveal? Because i sure as hell didn’t.
@@andrewcruz3837 Who says we were supposed to get a big reveal?
@@Trill_Tour go watch the interviews with perkins your a big boy do your own research. Im not gonna hold your hand
I enjoyed Longlegs, I look forward to the prequel Shortlegs.
I can’t remember that last horror movie to come out that really got under my skin. Honestly, Hereditary may have been the last one.
Hereditary straight up terrifying
The fourth kind got me
"I'm gonna piss my pants and fart out loud" haha
I kinda wanna say Cage was actually scarier in Dream Scenario
I loved this movie, I think more unsettling than scary.
Does detective Babylegs make a cameo?
this movie is like onea those weird af five hour dreams you have when you fall asleep for five minutes...or something like that. its like i lost sense of time and space and just felt fucking skullfucked during and afterwards. laughed as well. like i almost went into a full on, get up and excuse yourself giggle fit at the hardware store part where the girl calls him creepy or gross or whatever.
and speaking of, thats a huge qualm i have with the marketing, and marketing in general nowadays. like they sell these very distinct sequences as these horrifying, iconic, or just cool parts, that you end up looking forward to. But then the context is completely fucking different, and the part doesnt feel even slightly close to what the trailer was implying/setting up. I mean that can be okay in some ways obviously, like to try and throw audiences off in a good way, but the type of discrepancy i speak of is like pointless, and the marketing team/trailer editors are just trying to make shit look cool/scary, when its either the opposite, or just innocuous af.
like him doing the creepy arm drape and face reveal looked like such a cool, super unsettling, and demonic little thing, and i was all intrigued and excited for it. but its not like that at all, and pretty much played for laughs. and the laugh was awesome mind you, like i said (hardware store part), but i donno. shit just annoys me. the marketing was just way the fuck outta line in ways. anyyyyway. its for sure a good movie and really cool story, and i really wanna watch it again and start tryna decipher it. it definitely had that scarring edge and mood altering atmosphere to it, aka the stuff thats always present in the movies that do genuinely scare me (hereditary, the sentinel), but it just didnt have it to the degree where i was actually ever really tapping into my inner pants shitter. nic cage was off the fuckin chain though. god damn i love him
I'm with you, I think trailers really fuck w your sense of a film.
Saw this last night with a close to sold out crowd, really enjoyed this one. One of my favorites of the year so far
I hear its doing super good at the box office!
Do you ever watch films on mush?
I really liked it. I could have spent another 2 hours in that world, I didn't want it to end.
It could have been longer to better explain what the hell was going on lol.
Word on the streets is the movie is about your mom.
Ask her about it next time you come over to bang her
Great review. I felt the same with several points you made. The hardware store scene made me laugh. Blair Underwood was great in this and I think Alicia Witt was as well. I totally agree with you about the scene where a character could’ve prevented an event at the end but didn’t. Otherwise the movie did a good of making you feel uncomfortable throughout and the camera work often made you want to watch what might be going on in the background. Nick Cage plays creepy far to well and Maika Monroe did solid work here
Haven't seen but like the sound of it from your review.
Seen it last night. Was good but feel like another 20 minutes or so showings Cages characters background would have made it better.
I agree
An Oscar for Cage!?!?
Yes
Razzie?
Here for it 😊
I haven’t seen the film, but based on these reviews it seems like this movie was just too overhyped. It’s a rare case of having too good of a marketing strategy that people were expecting the Godfather of horror, which they just could not deliver on. I think in 10 years people will think far more fondly of the film when we don’t think as much about the marketing.
My only issue (before seeing the movie) is calling it the scariest horror movie in the decade, but I’ve come to known to take that with a grain of salt with how every 2010’s horror movie called itself “The best/scariest horror movie of the year/decade/ever.” Then every other movie called itself “The #1 movie in America.”
You think clearly.
1000% spot on pal
crazy cage is goated in my opinion but the twists of the movie disappointed me there was also way too much hype around it for what i experienced
I grew up going to see horror movies with my dad, way younger than your daughter, so don’t feel bad! I guarantee those times will be great memories for her later in life. ❤ Been waiting to hear your thoughts on this one … seeing it in 2 hours! 😁
That's awesome! They are great memories for sure. The best.
What did you think????
@@calilove5758 I really liked it! My husband didn’t know anything about it, and he said Nic Cage should win an award for this role. He thought the story was kinda silly, though. Lol. I, however, really liked it and was creeped the HELL out, especially from Cage. 👀 lol. The sub-genre I would put this in by the end of the movie, is what scares me the most, so that could make a difference. I can totally see how some people may not love it, but I honestly dug it a lot! 😁👍
This movie was so good!! ❤
Too overhyped. I feel like someone else could have played Cage's part to make it more sinister
And the concept was really good.. but the execution was lacking for me. I wanted to love this movie so hard.
But right now it's a 2 out of 5 for me. And i hate saying that
It was absolutely too overhyped. Hope you like it more next time you see it!
Definitely agree. When he started screaming in the car I was just taken out of the film. It’s like he disappears under the make up and then you hear him and you’re like ok it’s just nic cage being nic cage lol.
I love both of the lead actors in the movie.
But it almost felt like they were both in different worlds when they were in this movie. It seems like it's gonna make some decent bank this weekend, so I'm glad for that. But it was still kinda disappointing for me
YES. The ending, she could have easily.. you know. It really bothered me. Like it was obvious?!?
Thank you!
right ? like i know they weren't exactly ghost or michael myers. just do it 😂
Damn you must have a lot of feathers
I wish my dad brings me to watch movies together 😢
6/10.
Seems like every other TH-camr i have been watching for years, were all on crack simultaneously across the world exactly at the same time" Cause this movie is over hyped over exaggerated social media quick money 💰 but nooo this film suck azz on top of another azz not for everyone and definitely not scary, great concept but boring delivery go back to the 90s in watch Sev7en or silence of the Lamb
idk man seems like a lot of non reviewers and everyday people love it too. Might just be its not your thing. Thats cool too.
Love the Ghostface t!
I kinda Black Phoned myself with this one. Where it's a really good movie but I hyped it to myself enough that it kinda disappointed me. But it was super great
MAN I was so disappointed when I saw Black Phone, lol
Frrr
You could of just said this when guys were live tonight lol
Sure but that's the way youtube works, lol. Not everyone watches the streams and not everyone in the stream wants to hear a review for a movie they haven't had a chance to see.

What was the other horror that declared the best horror in a decade?
You may be thinking of immaculate or the first omen
Night Swim or Imaginary.

So Longlegs scarier/creepier than Hereditary or no?
Hereditary is a scarier film imo. But Longlegs makes for a way better rewatch

Not even close.
@@Trill_Tour I wouldn’t think so. That would be quite a tall task
Not a huge cage fan in the first place, not looking forward to his joker impression either but who knows could be good lol
It's not a joker impression. It's more like a slow mentally sick homeless guy trying to be edgy.
Blair Witch is awful. "Scariest movie since The Exorcist"
Soo is it worth seeing??
Definitely, it's just not terrifying, it's creepy and intense
Wait for it to come out on streaming services thats all i gotta say
I mean, an 8.5/10 would say yes lol

I don't think Joe Hill wrote this one my good man
@@WeWatchedAMovie he didn’t but I mean overall in the industry he is slept on, NOS4A2 is severely underrated, he just is crazy talented
Rimjob: The Musical
Poor film. Thumbs firmly down
Good review
Thank you!
Hey Mike what movie did you enjoy more, The First Omen or Long Legs??
You can't really blame people for getting hyperbolic about a decent movie in these dry dry cinematic times! At least thats what I think! That being said I hope its decent!
I certainly do not blame the audience members but I do blame the "journalists" who say bombastic shit just trying to get their quote on the movie advertising lol and they do it shamelessly
Makes me sick how much everything is overhyped nowadays. Many of the horror movies that came out in the past 5 years have been mediocre at best when their reviews and ratings have been overly pumped up. If a lot of these movies came out in the 90s- early 00s, they would’ve been rated much lower back then because standards were higher then IMO.
I'll see you in 45 minutes you sumumabich
Can't wait to see it

Fuck the academy if it doesn't win the best makeup!!! Very interesting and intriguing plot and very mysterious!!!! 8/10!!! And also i like this kind of slow burn, unlike those a24 movies for example
Hereditary and The Witch, were both described as "the scariest movie of the decade" and I think both are masterpieces. Longlegs isn't quite as good as those 2 but it's still superb
815!
Love the Beck reference brotha lmao
I was watching this tonight for the first time. I got to 10 minutes left in the film and my TV froze and got weird, then the power went out. Scared the shit out of me. Well, turns out some drunk hit a telephone pole a few miles away. I had to finish watching it on my phone, which sucked, but what a weird thing. I enjoyed this film though! It's nice to have a pretty original film, even if there are a few things I would have changed. Still one of my favorites of 2024.
When I first saw Longlegs face I’m not lying I was a bit scared. Nicholas cage is was Oscar worthy I’m not joking
It’s mid😔 ……& the story makes NO freaking sense! I’m very disappointed in the film….i wanted it to be good sooo bad!
It's not mid at all. It's beautifully made. And not everything needs to be explained out like it's made for children. The story is the story. If you need it to be lord of the rings that's on you
How does it not make sense? It’s very clear by the ending.
It’s a good movie but found some aspects boring. I was overly tired and feel asleep in the recliner. I need to go see this film again. I gave it between a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
I am so glad I avoided the marketing/ trailers for this one. All I knew was Nic Cage as a serial killer and Maika Monroe. And I loved it! It’s my favorite horror this year so far. BUT… scariest of the last decade? Um. Wow. No. But unnerving and creepy yes.
Nice! And yeah that last decade quote is wild
Every time the hype machine does its thing, there's always a bit of a rubberband effect. That seems to have applied to some degree... but not nearly as much as most in recent history. Fortunately, I don't watch a movie to please others, so whatever.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Alicia Witt… I’ve heard great things about her performance, but maybe that would require spoilers?
She was good!
I think Robert Eggers The WITCH, was describes as scariest movie in the last decade
We need another tier list...how about the women of horror ranking from scream queen to badassness
I didn't like the plot twist
i laughed a lot too.
well crafted movie and Maika Monroe gave a great performance.
Everyone I follow has widely different opinions about this movie. Drumdums loved it. So someone is misguided. Btw, Mia Goth was not good in pearl. She emotes like Charlie Kelley from It’s Always Sunny.
I mean I liked the film a lot so we pretty much have the same opinion there. And its pretty widely agreed upon she rocked the shit out of that role. Doesn't mean you personally have to enjoy it, but it's not an out there opinion is all I'm sayin.
