    I watched this game as a 20 year old in college at a state school in Missouri with a couple of guys from Omaha in our dorm. Great defensive game! Turner Gill's baptism by fire.

    Keith Jackson was pulling double duty during this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday he had been in New York calling the World Series. ABC then had him on his primary assignment which was College Football on Saturday. Then the following Tuesday(even though the game was postponed) he was back in New York calling Game 6 of the World Series. Al Michaels called the weekend games in Los Angeles for the World Series. ABC also had those two split the 1979 World Series with the same split.

    At around 14:30 into the video, they showed Husker RB Roger Craig running against Gators. Well the game announcer commented about RC’s “strong powerful thighs”. I cringed and laughed so hard because it reminded me of the famous “Jimmy the Greek” announcer that earlier years he used similar comment about a AA athlete but was terminated. 👴🏿
    Jimmy was one a kind sports announcer; good dude that was done dirty.

      Nah, Jimmy's comments were stupid and inaccurate. Sir Francis Galton had already proven how selective breeding doesn't do anything, and things tend to regress to the mean.

    Warren Powers knew us. Not surprising Missouri made it super difficult.

    Thanks for posting this game. Quite an enigmatic contest, and an important one for Big Red.

    It's too bad that Mizzou didn't have lights at the stadium.

      He was a very good player for the Cornhuskers. He always seemed to be around the ball. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

    How the hell does Missouri almost beat Nebraska and did beat Oklahoma in the same year but also lost to Kansas and Oklahoma State

    Unusual low scoring game for Nebraska ( only 6 points total) at the time against a mediocre team at best!

      Warren Powers knew Osborne's tendencies. You know, because he was an assistant at Nebraska for years. . .

    Brings back memories. I attended Mizzou in 81.
    Can you imagine if Mizzou had actually beaten Nebraska AND Oklahoma
    in that particular season ? If they had they would not of lost to Kansas later.

    • @robjohnson8861
      @robjohnson8861 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, ok. They were ranked 3 out of the 12 games they played. Finished in the bottom half of the conference. Sure, ok.
