Omg I used to live in that area for 3 years back in 2002... This is major nostalgia for me. I've been to all those places and remember them. Thank you for this!
All official Japanese post offices will have ATMs that will accept international debit cards, but so will all 7-11s consistently --> they have "Seven Bank" ATMs that accept international cards and 7-11s have better operating hours than the post office. Pro Tip: Get a good checking account that doesn't charge fees so you can easily withdraw while traveling. My favorite is Charles Schwab bank's checking accounts. They don't charge foreign transaction fees or ATM fees and if an ATM charges you an additional fee, they will reimburse it for you. Also no minimum balance or direct deposit required and no service fees. That + pocket wifi made everything a lot easier when I visited.
8:52 Bill and Ted's Was filmed in Mesa Arizona the area that i live in and the Circle K that was in the film is now a 7-11 so fun FYI. I've been there multiple times getting the same snack they get. Sadly never getting tom meet Rufus.
"It beats the shit out of Colonel Sanders (KFC)" As a guy who grew up on KFC, I say with certainty that just about any fried chicken is better than KFC.
It was Tsuyu, of course it was raining. The first morning I was in Japan, I brained myself on the massive steel parasol my ryokan had outside it. Only occasionally had it happen in my apartment.
I literally just saw a video on those A frame houses on another channel. Look up "Begin Japanology - Shirakawa go" if anyone wants to see a large group of people thatch one of those homes and learn about the design and function of said homes.
So present-day Graham, who is the future version of vacationing Graham (same beard length now though), did you ever look up what the name of that dessert in England is? You got me curious as to what tastes like an egg custard marshmallow cube thing.
after a brief perusal to see if anyone else had mentioned: Yeah, your local post office is your best bet for an international ATM. Banks will gladly convert currency, travelers checks or cash, but definitely hit up a post office for an ATM.
14:05 I don't know why but for me jokes I don't get are the best jokes. Maybe that's why i watch and love most of your MTG content while i have never played MTG in my life.
***** I googled it right after i posted the comment. I was aware of the "YMCA" song at a sort of periphery level that i suspect is culturally unavoidable in the English speaking word (all i knew was "YMCA" over and over with the tune). But for some reason (probably because my knowledge of them is similarly vague) i had it in my head that it was a song by the Beatles... >.>
Graham was being so deadpan I didn't even realize he was making a Village People reference here. I thought he was just laying down some truth about old roof construction techniques.
Tomato fried chicken?! WHY DON'T WE HAVE THAT HERE?! I've never been to a 711 but I have gone to many Circle K, but that might be west coast vs east cost of Canada thing.
I make it at home. It's fucking boss. Sometime sill mix curry powered, a curry paste or add some sort of hot sauce to the tomato to add some extra kick.
Yeah, some people have a near mystical inability to cook. For someone like Meepo or myself it seems really simple, but for others it's like some kind of sorcery. I really wouldn't feel bad, though; I had a house-mate in University that *read the instructions on a box of Kraft Dinner*. Suffice to say, we had pizza that night.
Graham, did you ever figure out what the egg cube was reminding you of? Because it sounds to me like a cross between an egg custard tart and a profiterole?
Small ceilings + absolute darkness = NOPE I a 6'2" and claustrophobic. That tunnel walk is the stuff of my nightmares. Good on you guys for enjoying it; it seems legit awesome. Just not for me.
If I remember correctly, the reason KFC is big in Japan is that it was one of the first American fast food franchises to come to the Japan (Hell, I think it is the first)
No, all fast food chains are huge in Asian countries. That said, they actually use quality ingredients so... Look up Mcdonalds in China or Korea. Of which you will probably see a lot of Hitler merchandise of all things... He's also huge in China/Korea for whatever reason.
Graham is too tall for various locations in Japan. Poor Graham. It's a good thing they didn't have a "You must not be taller than this to enter" sign somewhere.
Hurm, though its cool that they give out a wetnap every time, I feel like someone who wanted to boost the profits of the store could save millions of dollars a year by stopping this practice. Depending on how much business they lost because of it of course. Not saying I agree with it, just saying its a thing that could happen, e.g. no more mints on your pillow in hotels.
That's the cool thing about Japan. They actually care about providing people with pleasurable experiences over squeezing every single dollar out of literally everything.
pokemon Go was just released to the Japanese market. Which is ironic cause it a Japanese game but took far longer to get back to them on the account that Nintendo needed to resurrect their stocks
from what I've learned in this series, Japan has domesticated almost all its wildlife with a series of bread dispensers.
Solid Village People bit there, G. :D
"This region is really known for 2 things: Its beef, and its alcohol."
Man, sounds like my kind of place.
I just want to go there now to just have the beer....
Omg I used to live in that area for 3 years back in 2002... This is major nostalgia for me. I've been to all those places and remember them. Thank you for this!
Agar is also used in English pork pies to fill the gap between pastry and pork.

I love this series of videos!! I'm a traveler as well but, have never been to Japan....yet. Thanks for sharing your adventure!!
This series is coming along lovely. :)
This is so good! Thank you so much for sharing it!
I like this series.
Really enjoying this series :)
Man, this series really makes me want to go to Japan
As a fellow Brit I think you're talking about egg custards in relation to the Tamaten. Or just 100% pure agar.
Yeah, egg custard is amazing!
I thought he was talking about Tunnock's tea cakes
+Lunareclipse3268 Maybe but I feel that they're not really eggy enough
I absolutely was. I was just conflating *that*, and the memories of Marks & Spencer's Viennese Fancies, and getting them confused. Definitely custard.
+loadingreadyrun Can't go wrong with M and S!
i like how graham stood twice taller than any of them nihonjin. its very refreshing way to appreciate his tallness
8:52 Bill and Ted's Was filmed in Mesa Arizona the area that i live in and the Circle K that was in the film is now a 7-11 so fun FYI. I've been there multiple times getting the same snack they get. Sadly never getting tom meet Rufus.
That beer looks amazing.
"It beats the shit out of Colonel Sanders (KFC)" As a guy who grew up on KFC, I say with certainty that just about any fried chicken is better than KFC.
Protip; 7-11 ATMs all work with foreign debit cards.
That stinger! :) Adorable.
Those Koi mouthes are so Kaiwaii!
Free horns.....fuck yeah!
I can picture a stampede of metalheads who really want their horns visiting that place.
12:31 - I had plastic versions of those as a kid. No idea that it was a traditional Japanese design.
It was Tsuyu, of course it was raining. The first morning I was in Japan, I brained myself on the massive steel parasol my ryokan had outside it. Only occasionally had it happen in my apartment.
Nice guys, I love your videos, they make me want go to japan
Props to Graham for totally owning that Kendama at the end.
3:11 a Lamington? It's got the same profile. A square of sponge cake dipped in chocolate sauce and then coconut?
Coming Soon! A new collaboration between Loading Ready Run and Studio Ghibli!
"Graham Stark - Kendama Master!"
Do not bug swans. Swans can and will hurt you. You both got off easy...
I feel like you are getting to know G&K just as much as Japan. Its an interesting twist.
I literally just saw a video on those A frame houses on another channel. Look up "Begin Japanology - Shirakawa go" if anyone wants to see a large group of people thatch one of those homes and learn about the design and function of said homes.

If Graham doesn't respond I want to throw my hat into the ring and suggest he's thinking of a French Fancy
I think they're a bit cakey for what he seems to be describing
that totally sounds like a name they would give a dessert in england
Custard slice is another thing it could be. They're quite fluffy as well, although definitely custardy.
Ah! I see. Cool.
after a brief perusal to see if anyone else had mentioned: Yeah, your local post office is your best bet for an international ATM. Banks will gladly convert currency, travelers checks or cash, but definitely hit up a post office for an ATM.
I just googled for a Tamaten recipe, and the first page that came up had a picture of that exact shop...
Agar is very common in vegetarian jelly. I'm guessing the english fluffy cookie was a yorkshire pudding?
What's the music that plays at around 12:00? It's awesome, and I could swear I have heard it before.
The Key to Paradise...... in total darkness. Yeah I would pass on that cause I would be freaking out due to fear of darkness.
RIP student who walked into post
Pro Tip for ATMs in Japan: Post Offices (as mentioned in the video, but they have holidays...) or 7-Eleven!
I think the biscuit (cookie) that's referenced is a vienese whirl
I wish Kathleen would have said, "Where's the beef?"
Big f***ing bell killed me. Well done graham
5:29 So Graham does this mean the beam angular fished you ?
Steak and fun!
Agar is basicly seaweed based gelatin. Vegan use to make something like Jell-O because gelatin is animal based.
14:05 I don't know why but for me jokes I don't get are the best jokes. Maybe that's why i watch and love most of your MTG content while i have never played MTG in my life.
Hahaha. If you didn't know, then, the Village People is an old music group best known for the song "YMCA". Go check out the music video :)
***** I googled it right after i posted the comment. I was aware of the "YMCA" song at a sort of periphery level that i suspect is culturally unavoidable in the English speaking word (all i knew was "YMCA" over and over with the tune). I like how you ended the video with a moment of zen, having gone to zen Buddhist temples and whatnot XD
What's the drum music you used in this video and the previous one? It's really cool sounding.
Is the english dessert thing a teacake? It's a bit like marshmallow and it's coated with chocolate on a biscuit base
3:30 a scone?
That clip of Graham's insane face saying "it's the perfect Crime" has to come up again
Tomato fried chicken?! WHY DON'T WE HAVE THAT HERE?! I've never been to a 711 but I have gone to many Circle K, but that might be west coast vs east cost of Canada thing.
pretty sure you can make that yourself
I make it at home. It's fucking boss.
Sometime sill mix curry powered, a curry paste or add some sort of hot sauce to the tomato to add some extra kick.
Last time I tried to make something harder then KD I made myself very sick.

Graham, did you ever figure out what the egg cube was reminding you of? Because it sounds to me like a cross between an egg custard tart and a profiterole?
The sea of gaping fish mouths is a little bit creepy.
Small ceilings + absolute darkness = NOPE
I a 6'2" and claustrophobic. That tunnel walk is the stuff of my nightmares.
Good on you guys for enjoying it; it seems legit awesome. Just not for me.
Did you happen to have any fun encounters with the giant huntsmen spiders over there?
Nope!
how tall is Graham?
6'3", according to his Wiki page

KFC is also the nearest thing they have to turkey during the christmas holiday season and so a suprisingly huge amount of people eat KFC at christmas.
Graham is too tall for various locations in Japan. Poor Graham. It's a good thing they didn't have a "You must not be taller than this to enter" sign somewhere.
23:00 - Get fucking Pwnd Kathleen. Git Gud.
So, how jealous was Cam for you having some really nice beer?
It's hard to find bad beer in Japan.
Crispy on the outside and fluffy in them middle? Sounds like a Pavlova. No Kathleen, New Zealand did not come up with the Pavlova.
Someone's mad salty.
What is the music?
I mean the song name
Graham "Hiding in a school Group" Stark
Played too much Civ 5 and thought G&K in the title meant Gods and Kings.
Same
I think I'm the kind of person to go see the teddybears. I just know I am...
There you go!
So.......hungry........need..........tomato.....chicken
Mmm, frid chiken.
The teddy bear village is for people who are into beastilaity
Was it a Teacake that cube reminded you of, Graham? i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/04_02/teacake1004_468x415.jpg

Missouri has 7/11s and Circle K's. Also gay Swan.
Too bad this happened before Pokemon go otherwise they could've caught the rare Japanese pokemon
Don't think Pokemon Go has been launched in Japan as of yet.
We were supposed to get it today, but was postponed until tomorrow.
Yeah, that's what I heard.
pokemon Go was just released to the Japanese market. Which is ironic cause it a Japanese game but took far longer to get back to them on the account that Nintendo needed to resurrect their stocks
+grennysohail It's still not out here in Japan yet :(
Saw your comment, went to the App Store, no luck.
