Congratulations on your new baby chicks. I worked at an elementary school where we tried to hatch some geese eggs, but they died. This was in the late 70’s. So I went to a farm supply store close by and bought 2 babies. I dressed up like Mother Goose and put the babies in a basket. I went to each classroom to show them the goslings. They thought I was their mother. We took them to the lake and my kids taught to swim. 😃😃. Eventually the went to live on a farm with a large lake. The kids really enjoyed them at school. We kept them in the library and when they got noisy I would just talk to them and they would get quite.
That is awesome I love seeing how the kids got so exciting. I would say the incubator has done it’s job 100% Hatch rate. I believe that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a double Oak as well.
There’s nothing better than new life joining the world and the kids were so excited! ❤️ I use tractor supply curb side pickup all the time! It’s sooo nice!
My niece had one similar to yours and over time she hatched 40 chicks 🐥. She got a container for under the bed for the warmer and placed the water on a tile so shavings stayed out of water. That container gave them lots of room to play in cuz didn’t stay under warmer all the time. Soon they built one that replaced it and another one until ready for coop. She loved idea of hatching 6 or 8 at a time and had better success. She said lost 3 as they grew cus others would peck at them. Soon she had a time out pen for the bullies which mostly were roosters. The kids loved to continue hatching chicks and began to sell them for about a year. Take a break then do it again. Made a lot of money too. Loved how thrilled you were watching over them and then when kids saw them and so excited. They’re going to be super friendly with all the attention. If you do this monthly Gary will have to add on to the “palace” and you’ll have to have a big yard for them. Will a duck or goose egg fit in it mainly cuz geese will guard the flock from predators owls and hawks and be great to have. Gary we have Lowe’s here that stared same curb side pick up like Walmart has. In bad weather I’ll slip them a tip cuz feel guilty lazily sitting in truck. But it sure helps with this virus getting worse in our area. Now with election stores all boarded up and Mayor and Gov asking for us to stay home for this week. Can’t believe how stores are empty again and pharmacies closed taking only calls for meds. Sure got cold in your area as we will be in 90s this week then down to 50s. Excited to wear hoodies again and vests. Don’t wear coats but rarely do just have jean jacket. Really loved this video and new life on the Walker farm. Such a thrill for the kids AND CASSIE❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I believe it was Dutch that has a video showing putting the baby chickens in another container with food and water. He would take each chicken and dip it's beaks into the water to show it where to get water. Maybe put it high enough to where they can drink the water, but can't drown because it's too high. They are so cut when they are small. Congrats and hopefully you have 💯% hatch rate. That was awesome seeing the kids so excited to see the chickens. That's pretty cool you didn't have to get out of you're car in that blistering hot weather Gary. 🤣🧓
The baby chicks are so sweet.I loved your families reaction to them ! That brooder sounds great, I had to tell my daughter about it , as it sounds like a great buy for winter in her new chicken coop.
Congrats on your new babies, your kids are so sweet. I've been raising chickens for about 30 yrs. unless you have tropical chickens you don't need to keep a heater in the coop for the ADULT CHICKENS. If it get's really cold low 20's or colder feed them some whole dry corn, this will help them keep warm. But most chickens do just fine in cold whether if they have a good coop to get out of the cold when they need to. Have fun with the little ones. THEY OF COARSE DO NEED HEAT. And your brooder is just fine for now. God bless
I think that we all just learn as we go. I had no idea what i was doing raising my ducks and I did just fine. You are a smart gal! It looks fine in the tote for now. Although these are adults now lol. Loved the video and the kiddos. I also have a hatchmate and it is so fun! Hatch button quail. so fun!
I'm so happy to have seen this. That first one you took out that was black is really pretty but they all are so cute! Congratulations and God bless you all. ☺❤☺❤☺
Yippee🐔🐓 and there they are. That is really excited. Hope that one egg will maybe coming out in the night. The kids were so excited love to see them all around it. Wish you all the luck with the babies. ❤🥚🐔🥚🐓❤
Before you start the next batch, soak or wash the incubator wit6bleach water then leave it in the sun for several hours to sterilize it or you could get a bacteria problem which would cause some of the chicks to die. I had problems with the hovabator because it is really hard to clean and sterilize it because of the styrofoam.
Good Afternoon from Yuma, Arizona. Outstanding Job Ms. Cassie !!! I don't think that Vincent was as fortunate as y'all. Enjoy Life And All It Has To Offer !!!
Nice job Cassie! It’s funny how their first instinct is to peck for food. TSC is my favorite store. I can go in and come out hours later with nothing. Doesn’t happen often. 🐣🐥🐓🤗😂❤️
I started with a clear tote . Not big enough, wasn’t cheap, but I spent the money for a puppy play pen. Worked good. And can reuse it. And could put one chicken in it if has to be separated . Don’t forget to put a screen on top so they can’t jump out
This is so cute. I live it when they hatch..I have always used brooder heaters and not the bulbs and I use a playpen . And I have two of the same brand you got. They work amazing ☺️. My grands love it when it's hatch week
I remember when I hatched eggs my son's where young. My youngest is 27. Wow where dose time go. So hang on to those Precious Memories they are worth it. Bless you.
That is an incredible hatch! I have a cabinet incubator and didn't get a hatch rate as good as you did. I was hatching a lot of purebred chickens to supply 4-H children and for my family to show. I didn't have central heat an air, so my temperatures were not consistent but for a small incubator, that was amazing.
Chickens newborn and okd can be blood thirsty bullies, but newborns think stuff that moves may be food, so they peck. We used boxes and heat lamps in the house.
I think you can take the egg shells out of the incubator once the chicks have dried a bit so there will be more room for the others to move around and supply room for the other eggs to hatch.
NO. Opening the incubater allows the membrane to dry out in the unhatched eggs when humidity is released. They cant get through it snd die in the shell. Keep it closed until all are hatched
Yay they hatched! We have that heater and it’s been great! We did get a faulty one first and it went out the second night we had it but we got a replacement and haven’t had any problems since. We’ve used it both in the brooder and the coop. 🐣
Glad to see they hatched so exciting i got baby chickens one year I kept them until they got bigger then gave them to a farm where they had lots of friends to play with they didn't eat them they sold baby chickens and sold eggs. Only reason I gave them to this family. I got attached but when I heard about this farm I knew they were going to the right place. 😁❤

When your hens first start laying they will probably lay some double yolkers. Ours did the first few weeks.
So cool! The kids excitement is such a blessing to watch. 😊

🤣

NO. Opening the incubater allows the membrane to dry out in the unhatched eggs when humidity is released. They cant get through it snd die in the shell. Keep it closed until all are hatched
It's best to get the dry ones out soon as that happens so they are not so hard on the newly hatched by pecking & rolling the unhatched eggs too much
O m g! Such great kids! I still think Mazzies gonna be a vet when she grows up!
☺️
Yay they hatched! We have that heater and it’s been great! We did get a faulty one first and it went out the second night we had it but we got a replacement and haven’t had any problems since. We’ve used it both in the brooder and the coop. 🐣
Oh good to know!!
They are so cute!!
This is so cool. Ever think about ducks? They can lay more eggs than chickens, depending on the breed. But either way, this is exciting.
I have but Gary says they are too messy......
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
Thank you Christina. We appreciate you watching.
