    "If you didn't have an answer your not doing your job" That is one of the reasons that make this show special. Too many times in movies and shows things just happen with no rhyme or reason. Not in Andor, every character and moment had a purpose. Hearing Diego talk about this makes me very happy. Diego said they were working hard to make the best show possible and they did.

      I think Luna was saying “If you don’t know by now then I wasn’t doing my job”

      Exactly. Nothing felt just circumstantially put in just to payoff; it all felt organic and believable. It was funny to watch diehard Star Wars fans trying to guess what would happen next and so many of them were making the guesses that *usual* Star Wars shows and movies would have made (“Luthen is a secret Jedi!”, “Maarva faked her death and her funeral brick is a secret bomb!”) and did what made way more sense instead. Just brilliant top to bottom

    I love how passionate he is about it, especially during the questions about Kino.

    21:20 I appreciated this about Cassian. He's an independent thinker. This is why it took him so long to finally decide to join the rebels-- he's not a natural team player. Even on Ferrix, despite having close friendships, he operated solo. He really came to understand the importance of teamwork during his time in prison and there was no way for him to escape without the help of others.

    I think this is one of his best interviews! The reporter asked such juicy questions about the show!!! I got emotional over his answer for the Skeen question, Andor was just trying to keep his new team safe🥺😭 Such an amazing actor, he deserves all the awards💖

    Totally totally love Andor, the Best Star Wars since the originals. I’ve rewatched it 4 times now and fall more in love with it each time I watch it. This interview with Diego Luna reinforces why the show works. He wants to make a great show that tells a compelling story. You are wonderful Diego. Thank you.

    Diego Luna is such a smart person holy shit! So many things he has said about the show totally help me understand the themes behind it.
    Like when he mentions Andor's droid and how its supposed to be "what you want your dog to be" and how its a dog that talks back to you but stays loyal til the end. Perfect analogy for it.
    Then was his comment about Kino and how he didnt tell him as a sudden realization, but as an understanding between the characters to imply that he didn't tell Cassian on purpose so he wouldn't change the plan. Fantastic perspective. Even without perfect English he conveys so much. I'm envious of spanish speakers to be able to hear him interview in his native tongue.

    I love that you asked the question about Skeen because I struggled to make sense of that scene. I felt like Skeen had a real friendship with Nemik at least and I felt like that was enough reason to at least talk it through some more. I just didn't feel like Skeen would've killed the others as easily as Andor killed him.

    I have such MAD respect for their decision to not just draw this out, but to tell the story with the amount of episodes it needs and leave it at that. Open story telling can be fun but eventually you have to part ways with it, because you're no longer in the same place. Closed story telling tends to stick with you long after the show is over.

    Everyone gave outstanding performances, and certainly those little details Mr. Luna mentions helped me connect to his character. There's a subtle bit if dialog that really helped me see Cassian's affection for B2EMO. When Cassian is trying to convince Maarva to come with him after he gets back from the heist, she's asking about where they'll go and he says something to the effect of "Who cares, wherever we can, just the 3 of us" - up to that point, I didn't think he thought of B2 as anything more than a useful errand-boy. But that line and its delivery helped re-frame everything before. And it made his farewell to B2 feel much more important. Can't wait for season 2.

    Great interview. Touch the Jabba, Diego... It's right there. Sure it's not the actual puppet... I don't want to second guess the guy playing our hero, but for me, when Andor shot Skeen, he was protecting the team and mission, but I think there's also the things that Skeen said, that shown him to be a mirror of Andor and Andor didn't like what he saw.
    Hope to see Kino show up as a Rebel ground commander in Season 2. Cassian did make him a hero, like Luthen was making Lonni a hero as well in the episode. For me, Cassian is more of the spy to get stuff done and while he may have leadership skills, the show tells us that he doesn't need credit, just for the plans and missions to succeed.
    I think if Disney wants to make a bit more money from Andor, they should edit the arcs for the first season into movies or extended episodes and show them in the theater. Having watched the preview clip before the IMAX Rogue One rerelease, the show looked amazing and I wouldn't mind seeing the rest on the big screen.

    Just dying with that Jabba sitting there, waiting for Diego to see it and have to TOUCH IT !!! good inside joke for the set designer (great interview. We need to know if the funeral march starting "early" was a coordinated effort to help Cass rescue Bix.

    Love Andor with all it's depth and detail. Keno can't swim: In the film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Butch and Sundance are trapped at the top of a cliff and need to jump a long distance to a river below. Sundance hesitates. He says he can't swim and Butch laughs and says, "Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill ya." Nice homage to a great screenwriter - the late William Goldman.

    My question is: why does Andor smell *every* libation he is given?
    Side note, I wonder if Skeen was actually wanting to ditch the team with Andor or was it a final test of Andor"s integrity? Bad move on his part if true...
    I do appreciate that the audience doesn't always get situations tied up in a bow or in some dramatic revelation. That said, I *do* appreciate the scene (and long-term cruel irony) when we see what Andor's group was building in the Empire's gulag

    • @braedenfrantz296
      @braedenfrantz296 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe he is trying to smell if it is poisoned? He seems generally distrustful of people, and there’s probably a decent amount of people who he’s pissed of that might try to kill him. I’m not sure if there are specific drugs in the Star Wars universe that could spike a drink, or if they could be easily smelled as a way of discovering it

      In a way it's so simple though. Star Wars carries such a Legacy, as a creative it can be stressful to live up to that legacy.
      So you need to set that aside and just write compelling story, and then Afterwards you add the Star Wars into it. That's why Andor works.

    • @dejabu24
      @dejabu24 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Aidscapade71 you said it better than him , as a big fan of Rogue one and Andor I understand that and is the best approach compared to other things that Lucasfilms did under Disney, but for some fans isn’t enough, and if you wanna change their mind for S2 you need to be more careful with those words, like when Gilroy said "I’m not a starwars fan"
