    I want to see what the rammed earth walls look like. I plan to do that for the floors, but hadn't considered it for the walls. would live to see the outcome!!

    Does the pex tubing inside the rammed earth wall degrade the strength of the wall?

    A beautiful house, well done. But it's time to move the goalposts. This house doesn't look 'net zero', it looks more like the 'net plus a lot' we'd rather have.
    Don't you just love this transition to a sustainable future we're going through? We constantly have to raise our ambitions as it gets easier and easier.

      Strawbale homes are best in locales that are either very cold in the winter, or very dry & sunny. Tropics and strawbales? Not a good idea.

    Eh, man I hate how modern architecture is the cool thing right now. Trying to find one straw bale house that is attractive looking. Like the concept though

      Isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder? What is unattractive about a straw bale house, in your eye?

    I am all for sustainable design but I am not keen on this way of highlighting a material use such as strawbale. This makes it look all hippy and unrefined which is not going to attract a wide ranging audience when in fact strawbale can be done in such a way that its got a modern finish and feel, its all in the design and how the bales are rendered. If we want to encourage the mainstream home owner to consider using strawbale or rammed earth which can be as beautiful as stone then we need to show how it can have modern appeal.

      And how much more modern do you want the finish to be and feel than it's already presented here? I think it's this residence is very appealing and nurturing as it is.

      What would a home cost ??

  • @zoesdada8923
    @zoesdada8923 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I dont care about environmental I care about cheap. Unless you do the labor yourself houses built with exotic materials such as straw bail and rammed earth can cost twice as much per foot as a home built of traditional material.

    Ok- a straw bale home, but with bales of "reclaimed" drinking straws.....
    Got too much plastic waste? Stuff it in a wall and plaster over it. Haha
