    Thanks for the video, I will set up a profile using your settings and give it a try, never tried pitch tones, I mostly hunt modern parks for clad and jewelry but sometimes get to older sites, have had several detectors, love the Legend.

      Listen for iron. A good percentage of modern parks are the last vestiges of an old home site that was demolished and turned into a park. I've made some of my best old finds at modern parks that nobody suspected had any old keepers. Due to being groomed parks however, these targets are often really deep so you have to slow down in those iron zones. :)

      Thanks for the video. Question.. the last step of the settings following the threshold, your detector shows a VDI scale of 0 to ~54 with a setting of 30 . My Legend operating v1.11 shows a scale of 10-60. What am I missing?

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I opened the discrimination scale up to accept 0-10 and not hear 55-60 - I did this because I want to hear the iron BUT, I do not want the iron wrapping around to the 55-60 and producing a high tone when I am listening for high tones of good conductive targets.

    I got a Legend Pro pack about a week ago. Have not assembled it yet. I will today after the LG24 coil that I ordered gets delivered sometime today.
    Tell you the truth the settings are very intimidating right now.
    I hope I can find something on the Quick setup guide that will let me start swinging. I'm used to the MXT PRO and Tesoro Silver Umax. Much easier for this 75 year old to understand!
    We'll see what happens and I'm sure it will eventually work out I hope.
    I have my IDX PRO and Kruzer Gold to fall back on lol.
    I will definitely watch all of your Legend videos and try these settings. I will probably take it out to some old gold mining areas about 30 miles from here.

Please leave a comment and let me know how successful you have been using the hottest metal detector on the market! On one last point, as you will see in this video, 55-60 has been discriminated OUT - this eliminated the wrap-around effect from bits of iron debris and nails as well - this is just as important as the settings explained in this video! Any other questions - just ask!

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find pitch tones using these settings for some reason sounds like the high conductive targets are being "drawn out of the iron" because the pitch tones have that longer resonating pitch (a progressive pitch) unlike the 60. Appreciate the comment!

      @@Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting I’m I really like how the legend handles iron to begin with especially with m2
      what are your thoughts on m3 to deal with modern trash?

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find that M2 M3 20khz & 40khz become more susceptible to providing false good signals on trash and iron, because those modes are focused primarily on the lower conductors. I find M1 to be the most stable mode to use for coin and higher conductive relic hunting.

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tyler - I have reached out to a direct source to further clarify your thought. I am to believe based on earlier information pre-Legend, that the M1 retains the lowest operating frequency - thus more tailored for the detection of high conductive targets. As the M modes increase (2 and 3) you start to lose the lower operating frequencies, thus they begin to be more suited for the beach and the detection of lower conductive targets like gold. I will get back to you.

    Just wanted to give an update, I put the program in my machine, I live on my great grandparents old place, my Granny, my Dad and his siblings were raised here, I lived here from 11-23 years old. I've pounded around here several times, but I have pulled an Oklahoma state tax token and probably 10 coins in an hour and a half. I'm very happy with the program, except I think I'm going to try to notch in my nickel numbers, because I don't want to leave them behind.... Fantastic, really well explained from someone who knows their stuff. I have yet to buy my Legend but it's inevitable that I will. The problem I'm having is when to buy. There are improvements available on the upcoming release that are not available on the current model. IE carbon fiber upper shaft and cuff design, the LG 35 coil. Do I buy the standard Legend as is, or do I wait and buy the new and improved? I've saved this video to my watch later list. Awesome job man, huge fan!

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting

      Appreciate the kind words! From what I am aware, the guts in the revamped Legend are the exact same as the present model, but with only the carbon upper and the LG30 coil instead of the LG28.
      I also believe one can get the existing version at a GREAT price. I have not seen any noticeable difference between the LG28 and the LG30. Strictly from a financial prospective to what you are getting, the present version with the LG28 would be anyone's best deal!

    You have some very interesting settings that get you in the proper area and I have some settings that I have got Good results from iron filter and stability are an area that have a impact on sound of the target especially at depth on a video I saw the guy doing it went through the settings for iron and the distances from the target as the legend iron settings went up the tone had a change and at 5 it was hard to find it so by going to 1for iron filter and 1-2 for stability the shape of the sound was more distinct especially for Deep coins it has worked out so far especially when I varied the sweep speed there is a lot to gain on the legend by doing this I have been trying 20 khz but will try the M 1-3 when the signals change a little bit recovery speed is another thing I think is good to try I started at 3-4 as trash showed up I went up to 6 which took out the scatter sounds but should be adjusted to suit the area I am looking to get more equipment can you suggest a store

    Good video, interesting information. I don't have a legend, but I've got a buddy that just got one and I'm trying to see what I can learn about it to help him with his. From the videos I've watched, it looks like you're going to be missing nickels and Indian Head pennies if you don't drop that down from 34 to about 20. But then, I know guys that don't dig zinc pennies when they've got a signal that they think is a zinc penny

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To miss the odd nickel or penny would also be well worth the significant amount of time that would be lost digging trash that falls in that window of discrimination. Appreciate you watching and throwing in a comment. Good luck to both of you - J

    First of all thank you for the great video and especially the rational behind most of the settings. I'm just wondering what is the added value of bringing up the threshold from 0 to 12. Why keep the background buzz?

    • @kaidantienkulkija

    • @WoodsandWater72
      @WoodsandWater72 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because it helps you cherry pick the deep signals which makes a blip cutting the threshold buzzed out letting you know that it is in fact hitting a Target. I used to do the same thing until it just got annoying now I only use it when I'm trying to find but it is definitely something that works whenever you get used to no doubt. At least this is what I get out of it from my experience but I would like to hear what his reasons are too

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Canadian clad is where you will run into a TON of trash...clad 99% of the time will hit low...with trash...which means you will beed to detect almost all targets.

    • @MrBottlecapBill
      @MrBottlecapBill ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting Yup. Fresh clad usually isn't too bad but our Canadian stuff degrades fast so I find it doesn't take long to sound bad. I've been having my best luck on clad using M1 and listening for the tones that jump from low to high. ITs like the steel clad is confusing the machine and it doesn't know whether to call it a high or low conductor. Those are the ones I dig......but a lot of coins also ring in just like plain old nails( I;ve tested it) but those I usually ignore. They're almost always too far gone to cash in anyway. The older nickel and copper coins usually pop up just fine though. What you can do it go to a tot lot and hunt in the grass around the swings or the slides or whatever. THere's a lot of coins in there so that's a good place to run wide open and just dig it all for a while until you see some sort of pattern.

      Yes, the purpose of these programs is to dig more higher conductors than to dig a lot of trash. A lot of places won't have gold, so you could literally spend your entire day digging trash in the hopes that you might find one gold ring. In addition, while you're spending most of your day digging trash in the hopes to find one gold ring, you could have walked away with a pouch full of silver and old coins.

      Hello @nwbauer91 - M3 all day long in Multi, or single at 40khz will most likely increase ID's at the 40khz. Run 1 tone, and dig anything from 1 - 30. 1 tone will level all tones out and slightly enhance the detection of smaller nuggets. As for the other adjustment, what I use for iron infested sites IMO will work just fine. Best of luck.

    Will these settings work great for gold jewelry as well?

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You would need to open up your disc a bit more to detect all gold. You will dig more trash though unfortunately.

    Hello. Are there settings for a legend on the beach by water?

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Disc out 0-10 and 55-60 to eliminate wrap around rusty iron.
      Gold can show up anywhere, so you may be better with 1 tone on the beach or in the water.
      60 tones or pitch tones are great on land in dense trash or dense iron infestation. I focus my settings more on working iron infested sites and very challenging scenarios.

    What software version are you running?

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1.09 / 1.11 / 1.13 - any one of these 3 versions. The NEW options on the 1.11 provide very little benefit over these core settings.

      Absolutely, or I would take the video down! The priority of my channel is to communicate accurate and solid information in regards to settings before any video is posted with Settings. There is extensive work done to make sure that what is posted is going to be the best option for its intended purpose.

    Gold coins and jewelry? - Nope!

    • @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting
      @Diggin4LifeMetalDetecting  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Correct. Head to the local old park and dig everything from 10-30, and then come back and tell me...aaaa now I get it, I have no gold ring and I spent the entire day digging trash. It really comes down to how you want to spend your day and time. We all dream of finding gold coins and gold rings, but realistically, they are far and in between. Now, at a beach, I would dig almost everything because the site, and odds are largely increased on finding more gold and jewelry than trash. To be a successful metal detectorist, you also have to make the smartest decisions to find the most, while wasting the least amount of time digging crap. GL & HH

      But gold also beeps between 10 and 30, so you just as easily could be passing up gold as well.

      I have with these settings, but not usually. I prefer to spend a day digging good targets than a day digging a TON of trash "in the hopes" that a gold ring etc "may" be there.
