I think Venus and Mars are both equally viable planets to colonize after we take mars we should take Venus. I think we as a species will hopefully become an space faring species who will take over our local zone. At least that’s my hope for humanity

There's a massive electrical scar across the surface of mars, like zues himself deemed the planet unworthy. You can't terraform something you don't understand. It's a dead planet. Simply trying to "warm" it up with gasses that the sun strips away by the square km, just isn't going to cut it. Atmospheres don't created magnetic fields, they're sustained by them.

Actually it’s way easier to change Mars’s atmosphere, since it’s only 10% of that on earth. “That is if we had infrastructure built by the colonizers”.
Also, we can change our atmosphere right now by shutting down everything. But, it’s obviously not gonna happen. So, Elon Musk is doing his best so that it would be more favorable to go green electricity in the near future.

@@kyon_gold Did they really mysteriously lose the techbology, or did 10% of US GDP spending on a dick measuring project which many Americans didnt want from tbe very begining become too much of a burden for the taxpayer? What about the oil shock recession? What about the huge debts created in funding the project and the ever increasing interest payments and their drag? What about Veitnam and Korean wars and other costly mistakes?
Do you realise the technology in the 60s-70s was basically scaled up versions of tech created in the 40s and 50s? By the 50s they had all the math needed and understood everything to build missles? The the first missions was just humans strapped to the top of missles originally intended for nukes and sent into space?
The skills needed to build rockets then were basically the same skills needed to build ships in the 30s-40s. Some rockets were even created in the same places Submarines were built. Its was a directly tansferable skill. You dont think we can build ships? A lot of those old skills are also lost cause technology and building techniques change. We no longer use rivits for example. A ship builder of now would have to learn everything again to build in the way they used to. 1.Cut journey time by 50 % at least to cut down the risk of mental illness and depleted morale among the crew 2. Create a safe and sustained artificial gravity to protect against bone deterioration and muscle and circulation damage. 3. Insulate the entire spacecraft with a ample amount water through the Hull of the spacecraft for a proven significant protection from dangerous radiation particles in deep space. 4. Stay time has to no longer than three weeks on the surface of Mars and stagger the duration of outdoor activities due to radiation exposure. 5. And finally provisions from adequate food, water, exercise facility's and some kind of entertainment area on ship I. E television and music to keep morale in a satisfactory state. 5 fundamental obstacles and if we make substantial progress on these problems then we're off to Mars see you in 7 months time earthlings.

7:53 I'm so glad you mentioned this because I actually thought it up earlier in the video when you said "almost always the civilization receiving contact gets wiped out". Imagine what a dark chapter of humanity that would be, on Mars or any planet. If intelligent life or any life existed and we went ahead with terraforming, ultimately causing a planetary genocide (a new word would have to be invented like terracide or vidacide). This would be like the Columbian Exchange on Earth, but far larger and horrifyingly-drummed-up with modern inclinations and technology. Terraforming would be the smallpox blanket of whatever planet we set our sights on. This would make a great sci-fi movie though, especially if Earth had been destroyed by humans and the terraforming was their last chance.

That was a pretty good presentation. I'd point out that emerging propulsion technology I'd liable to cut down that trip time significantly. Also, I think that the difficulties involved in human adaptation to Martian time cycles is overstated somewhat. Consider people in northern Europe who live above the Arctic Circle. The big factor, however, will be boosting the atmosphere to the point where pressure suits aren't necessary, where water can flow and plants can take root. Until that happens, human settlements will be enclosed and dependent on technology.

Instead of all the shoot-and-land missions, lets build an infrastructure for space exploration.
    You can have:
    - Deep Space Gateway Stations at Earth-Moon L4 and L5 points where
-- Astronauts and cargo to and from Earth can transit with interplanetary spacecrafts
-- Interplanetary spacecrafts can be built and maintained
-- Some processing can be done for asteroid mining's Earth bound market
    - Mars Gateway Station at Phobos or Deimos or a Mars Orbital Station
